In general he can't leave Korea except in a few circumstances such as grandparent funeral (his grandparents live in US) and there's a whole procedure for that. And that's only a really short 2-3 day leave allowed. And my son has saved his leave time too but that doesn't mean he can take time off as he pleases. The command has to approve leave and they won't approve large blocks of time.
