Such a pity you can't update it. FI have done an awesome job with this bird, and it's nothing like it used to be. The left wing dip on the take off roll is a LOT more prominent now, and it's also harder to control the rudder on the take off roll (in reality you need to use left rudder trim on take off). They've also added an option for Aileron trim in the tablet. Another big difference is that you now need to use differential braking to steer it on the ground as per real world (although they include an option for simplified ground handling). Oh, and the sounds are amazing now. They've really kept this bird well maintained.
Having said all the above, all the tips you've given still very much apply

Good tips on take off.I was doing tiny increases of speed using rudder to keep straight until the tail wheel came up.Will try the stick forward more speed technique next time.thanks Huddison and thanks to the flying iron team too,it's a great plane to fly!

I find encouraging the tail wheel to come up is the better method - let us know how you get on.

Good tips. I would enjoy a video on how to use that compass in the spit and Hurricane.

Love the Spitfire, one of my favourite warbirds of WWII. Great tips btw :-)

Thanks my friend. It's an absolute iconic aircraft.

Can't wait to try your take off technique. I'm fed up of veering off to the left and dropping a wing. At least I'm ok at the flying and landing, if I can take off of course!

You'll quickly get the hang of of it ;)

I find about 6% right rudder trim solves that.

Not easy! I found having the much more responsive HOTAS settings made it even harder than usual to keep the plane at all straight and level. So much fun to fly, though! Fast, maneuverable, just a great time! For the group flight, I'll use my regular settings and see how it goes. Thanks for the video!

You make it look easy. Hope I can do the same, after a lot of practice.

Thank you for this! I think I’ll go ahead and get this and try flying it. I need to practice with taildraggers anyway so why not this one?

dont need flaps on take off, and 90% throttle on take off, too much, feed the power in and you will still come off the ground and rudder all the time. Too much power and the rudder cant accomodate the torque from the engine.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I didn't actually use flaps on my take off.

Hey Huddison, while on the ground in flying irons spitfire, i flip the flaps up (virpil as yours) and it flips backs down! Also push the throttle forward and goes back down by itself, so taking off is an absolute spinning out of control mess. Once in air, its perfect but does anyone know why it does this? Its virpil and have only basic settings on it, same as your vid. I wanna fly with u all on next leg but u will be laughing your socks off at me! ;)

I'm wondering if you have assisted options selected in Assistance Options? I reckon we'll be able to sort it in Discord.
How are you finding the Virpil set?

I have a consistent problem with the plane wanting to veer off to the side after landing. Trying to control it with rudder makes it tip a wing. What would you suggest?

    • @Huddison

DO you have assisted rudder turned on in Assistance Options?
