I'm a simp 4 folds. if it looks great and the rest of the drawing doesn't, it can often carry the drawing by itself - if everything looks great and the folds don't though, it ruins the drawing. Undeniable fact 💰Also, you can use the coupon in the description to get a fat discount on my art program artschool.ai this month. We just passed 17000 students - pure madness 🤯

There are 7 types of fabric folds that exist, and they are as follows:
    1.Drop folds
    2. Pipe folds
    3. Diaper folds
    4. Spiral folds
    5. Zig-zag folds
    6. Half-lock folds
    7. Inert folds.
This video is still very imforamtive and will definitely help me in my clothing art-making ventures. Thank you again and always, Marc!

To just add to the knowledge, there are 4 types/2 spectrums of clothing types:
      Thick to thin
      Loose to tight
      Thick/tight = Leather
      Thick/loose = Wool
      Thin/tight = Spandex
      Thin/loose = Silk
Cotton can fit any of this from cloth to jeans but seemingly from Leather to Silk.

*Remember for all things in art: it only has to be convincing enough* If you understand the rationale behind folds, you can create more than convincing folds or anything else including lighting, anatomy, foreshortening, colors etc... In fact, don't copy. Make it better than real life as Jeff Watts of Watts Atelier always says. At the end of the day as an artist, you're interpreting reality (or what we call reality) and giving it your unique personality and spin.

Not long ago I started my adventure with digital painting and whenever I have trouble with anything, you're always the first person I think of that can help me with any problem I encounter via those kind of videos. Now, I think the only parts I still struggle with are shadows (tho I saw you have one lesson about it and I already did checked it out and I did somehow understood those two tactics you showed, now, all that's left to do is trying to put it in practice) and ofc drawing clothes which I now understand a bit more thanks to this class :> I think, you're the only one so far that can explain most of the things to me (and probably many other ppl) in the simplest way possible

More could be said such as points of stress and relaxation and my own perspective that is the further away from a drop fold, meaning gravity or pull, the more stress that part of fabric will have. Or that ever fold of pipe is inner and outer so inner folds may contour the body and require more nuanced lighting than the outer or that if the object is reflective, both the inner and outer will reflect the same light at a point. Or zigzags are better on tight clothing and swirls on loose. Or if one side has more form fitting, stressed vs form fitting relaxed, the opposite may be different. Or if you are just gonna simplify it, make the folds more based on what details the figure in a balance/unity based principle than even texture based.
But that's me. Ignore if you want.
