Hey everyone, I'm actually the guy in this video - it was such a refreshing and amazing talk with Earthling Ed. I'm so happy right now that this video is up! Many comments have been asking about my progress- I have severely cut down on my meat consumption and I actually genuinely think with a bit more time, I could become vegetarian and then from that, become vegan. I really believe that the positive feedback from the comments in conjunction with the conversation with Ed has really opened my mind up to how much meat I'm consuming so thank you guys! Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that for the past 2 months or so I've been completely vegetarian! I've even cut out dairy and am on my way to cutting out eggs. Jafman I’m sure they’re having a very decent life, not being sarcastic. But any kind of relationship that involves taking from or using an animal’s body for our benefit is fundamentally exploitative and unethical. It promotes the idea that we can use and exploit animals and as long as we do that we will continue to make money off their backs, which is wrong.
@@willb1405 so you would not owna pet cat or dog then? or any kind of pet animal? what about a pet falcon to keep the crows of your crops? what about introducing laby birds to keep the green fly down?
Jafman personally no, I don’t have any pets and I don’t want any. But if I did how would that invalidate anything I said? Pet owners don’t take the excretions of their pet’s bodies, do they? Having a cat isn’t an exploitative relationship any more than having a child is
This guy is different, he’s not like most carnists who think they know everything. He was willing to listen to the other side without interrupting and he genuinely seemed Interested. Edit : when I say carnists I don’t mean carnivores , it’s someone who follows the ideology that an animals only purpose are to be eaten , worn, used and abused however they are happy to pet and treat animals such as dogs and cats with love. It is not a degrading term, it is a term to describe what you believe in, which is clearly demonstrated through ur actions. It is a fact. If you are showing racism towards someone , you are a racist. If you judge someone based on their sexual orientation , you are homophobic. If you do not like being called a carnist , then I suggest you change your ways for the better. Because if u do not change , then u are stuck with that title.
Many people Ed interviews (especially the last one) are saying things they themselves disagree with because they're not necessarily trying to "educate" Ed on why eating meat is not immoral, they rather just use throwaway arguments to avoid admitting that they're wrong. This dude is different. Respect.
This guy is too well-spoken and intelligent to continue being a meat-eater. Once he transitions to veganism, he'll be a great asset to the vegan movement. Unlike many of the people you've had discussions with, this gentleman seems genuinely open to your suggestions.
Eric The ex vegan community is rapidly growing. There are hundreds of people online describing how sick they got on the vegan diet. According to psychology today, 84% of vegans and vegetarians return to meat within one year of starting the diet. I wonder why... Plant foods have no Creatine, Taurine, Glutamine, absorbable B12, Vitamin A, K2, Vitamin D and so on. We are not ruminant animals; our stomachs are not made to digest plant food all day long. They are full of anti nutrients that limit the bio availability of the food we absorb. This is why vegans rely on synthetic fake meat, synthetic protein powder, and highly unregulated supplements. It’s exactly why you hear vegan gains sound so depressed and low in his videos; his diet is destroying his body and mental health. Why any of you would take advice from a guy who sounds this depressed is beyond comprehension. You will never feel satiated on a vegan diet; always hungry. Meat is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. All the amino acids you need to be strong and mentally stable...
@@astonbrissett9747 this is such a bizarre take, you can literally find sources for the same nutrients all over the place hence the animals, who eat plants, being dense with those nutrients but there are also all kinds of people who get sick from a meat-focused diet you can do any kind of diet wrong, that's not on the entirety of the vegan or omnivore diet you HAVE to know this is disingenuous
@@astonbrissett9747 The only legitimate case nutritionally you have is B12 deficiency. I drink fortified soy milk for that. Thats also where i get Vitamin D. The dairy industry has to forify their milk with Vitamin D because the majority of people are already deficient due to lack of sunlight. Veganism is an ideology not a diet. Everyone eats different food. A lot of people become vegan because it sounds healthy but they have no idea how to eat and don't get enough calories or protein because they are used to eating meat and they don't make the switch properly.
Briqt Wemmde we aren’t ruminant animals. We don’t have the same stomach as a cow. Cows have multiple stomachs that allow it to ferment the plant foods they eat. Humans don’t have that.... 🤦♂️ The ex vegan reddit community has 10,000 members; I wonder why? You haven’t refuted the missing vitamins and nutrients I stated. Keep drinking synthetic protein powder, fake chemical lab meat, and unregulated supplements. You really think those pills make you healthy? 😂
Eric Tate you still don’t have Creatine, taurine, glutamine, vitamin A, D3, DHA. You are literally eating anti nutrients all day. A vegan diet will make you depressed I promise you that. You don’t even know what is truly in those protein powders and pills that you take. Chemicals. Mono cropping for vegan food still kills animals bro. Think...
For the first time I actually sat back and tried to listen to a vegan... this guy did a brilliant job. Not confrontational - just a good chat filled with passion. The key points - animal abuse, oxymoron kill humanely - also, we use to eat plants and seeds... Well done, good video
The man in this video is so sweet. He's one of the nicest people I've seen Ed talk to in terms of just being open-minded, respectful and kind even though it's a different view than his own. He was just so lovely!
There are zero health aspects or benefits to being vegan. 84% of Vegans return to eating meat because they become severely unwell. It’s a cult that has zero credibility.
Michael Davis wow 84% of vegans return to eating meat. Where did you get this data from, the Daily Mail? Before going vegan I actually was plant based for years. Some people think it’s the same but it’s not. Plant based is a diet, and vegan is a philosophy of reducing animal suffering and killing as much as possible and viable (that also involve eliminating animals from your plate). So I was eating plant based as I researched it’s a very healthy diet. Milk is extremely unhealthy with all of the female hormones in it (oestrogen), IGF-1 (which is a hormone that promotes growth, but in human adults can promote cancer growth instead), antibiotics (given to treat mastitis), all the cholesterol and saturated fat and faecal matter (bits of poo). Eggs have a very high amount of cholesterol. All meats have a lot of saturated fat, cholesterol and also antibiotics (given to treat infections and also to make some of the animals grow faster). Also processed meat like bacon or ham are classified by WHO as carcinogenic class 1 (the same class as cigarets are). PS.: Animal agriculture uses 70-80% of all antibiotics produced in the world. Look, I’m not saying meat dairy and eggs are all bad, they have lots of protein, they also have essential micronutrients, and they are tasty. But also are other foods. And lots all this other foods don’t have all of the nasty stuff that comes from animals. Cholesterol for example only comes from animals, and we produce all of the cholesterol we need, some people are less capable than others to get rid of the excess of cholesterol in the body, they end up getting their arteries clogged and that can result in heat attack and very often in death. Heart attack is the number one killer in the States, the UK and many other countries. Beans, on the other side, are full of protein, but have zero cholesterol, and lots of fibre. Fibre has the opposite effect cholesterol has in the arteries. Also more recently researchers are understanding how fibre is important for health, and modern and western civilisations aren’t eating enough fibre due to the amount of animal products (they have zero fibre) and heavily processed food people are eating. But I was eating plant based for health, not for ethics, so sometimes I’d have a bit of milk chocolate. Or a croissant. You know, this things only have a little milk in them. So if once or twice a month I had something that had a bit of milk or a bit of eggs I didn’t care. But now I do, and I’d never eat milk chocolate because I know that little milk in it came from a cow that was forcibly impregnated (had a human fist shoved in her annus) and after 9 months of pregnancy had her calf stolen from her. Cows are very maternal animals and they cry for days for their missing baby. That repeats for 5-6 years, until the farmer realises the cow is not producing enough milk to keep her alive for a next pregnancy, so he sends her to a slaughter house, even though that cow could have lived for another 15-20 years. When I found out about the ETHICAL side of why some people were vegan I went vegan. You might say that was easy, because I was pretty much there, and that’s true, but being more difficult doesn’t justify all the unnecessary things these animals go through. And it’s unnecessary because we don’t need their bodies and their secretions to survive and thrive. Veganism is not a stupid cult, it’s based on ethics and it’s funny that it also has a lot of science on our side, as a died without animals is not also good for human health, it’s also good for the planet. Fair to say veganism and health has nothing to do with one another directly. You can be a healthy vegan (as I chose to be), but you can also be an unhealthy vegan, and eat lots of vegan junk food. But that’s a personal choice. Eating animals, however, isn’t a personal choice, as this choice involves a victim. So yeah. Not a cult, and it does have credibility. Is just that some people are so biased and have an enormous ego, and can’t accept that what they’ve been doing their whole lives is highly immoral. If you watched this talk you’ll have realised this guy was humble and he wanted to learn, rather than judge.
Its refreshing in this video to see this nice guy who is open minded and open hearted during this conversation about animals (vs seeing alot of the opposite in the past). Earthling Ed is truly awsome!!!
Only recently found your channel, what an articulate calm man you are. Your passion still translates but in such a way that no one takes offence and takes the time to listen.

I'm impressed by this person's willingness to engage honestly -- really enjoyed the conversation! I hope he stumbles upon the Gamechangers documentary -- really dispels myths that you need animal products to make "gains."
Excellent as always Ed .I admire how you avoid arguments and allow the person to speak and explain their views before answering. This is the way forward 👏
This was a pleasant conversation. It's refreshing to see someone being open to what you have to say. Thank you for your work, Ed. I really appreciate it.
What a great discussion! Wonderful to see someone that is a meat eater actually have a rational, calm, thoughtful discussion about veganism. More of these types of discussions would be so productive.
I really wish I had vegan friends :(. I’m quite young (14) and there’s literally no vegans I haven’t meat a single one. I have one vegetarian friend that doesn’t rlly know anything about it. As soon as I have any kind of debate with him or my other friends that get really defensive and manipulative and it’s really sad. I have been vegetarian for about 7 years cause my sister were and I knew that we killed animal for meat (not more than that) so I want vegetarian for about 2 years ago i started watching documentaries about animal industry’s I instantly went Vegan and I’ve always seen it as obvious. You’re abusing animals for a little better taste. That just blows my mind. I really want more to go vegan so I can have more friends that I actually feel like I can have a convo. #GoVegan. Sorry for bad grammar and spelling I’m not English. :D :)
Wow, a stunningly open minded and thoughtful conservation from this guy. You can tell he really thought this through instead of the common knee-jerk comments/reactions. Really lovely to see.
Ed, you are an amazing person and you inspired me a lot to go vegan. I was vegetarian for 5 months. However, I'm so happy to announce that I am vegan now and it's been a month. There is no way for me to go back to that inhumane consuming style. Thank you a lot.
I'm so used to get frustrated by this conversations, this guy is really refreshing. So aware of the situation and open minded. Lucky he got to talk to you :)
Way to go Ed. I think you've maybe planted a seed in a future vegan. I like how he was very inquisitive and genuinely asked questions with a hunger for your perspective.
That was really, really nice. So good to hear someone who's generally very interested, who appreciate the good causes veganism's all about, and wants to learn. :-)
Awwww I love this guy!! He was so open minded and intelligent. See, fellow vegans?? We don’t need to bash meat eaters just for not knowing enough.... we can have respectful discussions like this (as long as the person is open minded enough) and raise awareness about the things they may be uneducated about. The only problem is that his level of openness is very rare amongst people who are still stuck on a non-vegan diet... 😒
Amazing conversation, really liked the person's humble answers. I enjoyed the content really well, as a fellow vegan, I'm watching these videos for the support of whatever you're doing Ed and receiving these feedbacks and points you make has made me take the initiative towards reading your ebook again. To my astonishment, I shall read it in my bilingual languages and enforce these beliefs I have in french. I look forward to donating on that ebook, perhaps even subscribe a monthly donation in the near future. Thank you for your efforts, and I hope you prosper in other areas of your life.
@Hashtag GetRekt "A quick and painless death in order to obtain food is considered humane to most people. " So if someone shoots you in the head and then proceeds to eat your corpse for no reason other than pleasure, would you consider this murder? (The answer is yes, obviously.)
@Hashtag GetRekt Try to be consistent with your own reasoning. I only took your own definition of "humane killing" and proved with an easily understandable analogy that it can still be murder. Instincts do not matter at all when it comes to logic, nonsenical argument.
I must say I really do most enjoy the discussions Ed has when they can both just really listen and consider each other’s points of view. When someone can be brave enough to risk thinking about concepts which don’t necessarily fit in with their own beliefs without having to defend them to the death, it is just so refreshing. Ed has talked with some very nice men and women.
@aidsbrigade I agree! Here's the definition of meat from the Merriam-Webster dictionary: Definition of meat 1a: FOOD especially : solid food as distinguished from drink b: the edible part of something as distinguished from its covering (such as a husk or shell)

It's refreshing to see someone who isn't so desperate to make the same tired old ludicrous excuses for their violent behavior as many carnists do.
Louis Gedo exactly 👏🌱
Many people Ed interviews (especially the last one) are saying things they themselves disagree with because they're not necessarily trying to "educate" Ed on why eating meat is not immoral, they rather just use throwaway arguments to avoid admitting that they're wrong. This dude is different. Respect.
I don't really go for that. We were all carnists that knew everything or else you are still in denial Grande Love
This guy was awesome. Genuinely thinking through the philosophy.
This was so refreshing to see someone sit down and have an intelligent conversation! I felt happy after watching this!
its not really an intelligent conversation when skeletor ED spreads propaganda
This guy is too well-spoken and intelligent to continue being a meat-eater. Once he transitions to veganism, he'll be a great asset to the vegan movement. Unlike many of the people you've had discussions with, this gentleman seems genuinely open to your suggestions.
Hes not that intelligent. His arguments are feeble and typical, just worded more articulate.
Yup i agree!!
saying "too intelligent to beat a meat-eater" is far too patronising, don't do that
@@ExplosiveLemonz Don't put quotes around something if it isn't word for word what someone has said.
Totally agree. My thoughts exactly.
This wasn’t even a debate it was a conversation. Best video I’ve ever seen from a logical person.
These are the most productive ones. He definitely is going to start eating more plant based even if he doesn't plan on going vegan
@@astonbrissett9747 this is such a bizarre take, you can literally find sources for the same nutrients all over the place
hence the animals, who eat plants, being dense with those nutrients
but there are also all kinds of people who get sick from a meat-focused diet
you can do any kind of diet wrong, that's not on the entirety of the vegan or omnivore diet
you HAVE to know this is disingenuous
The ex vegan reddit community has 10,000 members; I wonder why?
You haven’t refuted the missing vitamins and nutrients I stated. Keep drinking synthetic protein powder, fake chemical lab meat, and unregulated supplements. You really think those pills make you healthy? 😂
Eric Tate you still don’t have Creatine, taurine, glutamine, vitamin A, D3, DHA. You are literally eating anti nutrients all day.
A vegan diet will make you depressed I promise you that. You don’t even know what is truly in those protein powders and pills that you take. Chemicals.
Mono cropping for vegan food still kills animals bro. Think...
Great conversation Ed, you definitely got this guy thinking.
Definitely
Guy's very gracious and polite. I like him.
i don't know how Ed comes up with such good arguments in a little amount of time, it's amazing. One of the biggest reasons why im vegan today.
Read his E Book! He explains succinctly how to respond to every argument against veganism...there isn't any!
what a refreshingly civilised discussion :)
For the first time I actually sat back and tried to listen to a vegan... this guy did a brilliant job. Not confrontational - just a good chat filled with passion. The key points - animal abuse, oxymoron kill humanely - also, we use to eat plants and seeds... Well done, good video
Nice dude, I liked him, very openminded 🙂
When he saw the subscribers on Eds page he realized Veganism isnt as small of a minority as he previously thought.
The man in this video is so sweet. He's one of the nicest people I've seen Ed talk to in terms of just being open-minded, respectful and kind even though it's a different view than his own. He was just so lovely!
Thank You Ed for speaking up for the cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals.from earth.❤️
He was asking some fantastic and very intelligent questions. I get future vegan vibes from this dude 👍🏻🌱
what a nice guy, its rare to see meat eaters respecting vegans and actually being interested
Nice to have someone who doesn't talk out of their butt for a change
He seems a really nice and open minded guy.
Hope he does his research about the ethical, environment and health aspects of veganism 🌱
Veganism is unhealthy. Thats the aspect of it.
Jiří Dušek I can tell you haven’t read a word of what I wrote 🙄
You’d rather be blissful ignorant.
@@Bianca-pw5cn you summed it up perfectly
Its refreshing in this video to see this nice guy who is open minded and open hearted during this conversation about animals (vs seeing alot of the opposite in the past). Earthling Ed is truly awsome!!!

Only recently found your channel, what an articulate calm man you are. Your passion still translates but in such a way that no one takes offence and takes the time to listen.
I like this guy, he wanted a conversation and he was prepared to change his views
If everyone was this open minded in conversations with people from a 'different group'. Wow the world would be different.
People are too emotional and living in the ego.
It's necessary for a vegan to never accept my reasoning for eating animals, it's just 2 world perspectives that are different
I was a vegetarian for six years and your videos finally got me to make the switch. I’ve now been vegan for a week and I will never turn back. Thank you for all that you do. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely love watching your conversations. I think so many people could learn a lot about how to interact with others, on any topic, in a respectful way by watching your videos.
I'm impressed by this person's willingness to engage honestly -- really enjoyed the conversation! I hope he stumbles upon the Gamechangers documentary -- really dispels myths that you need animal products to make "gains."
The game changers was unfortunately riddled with plenty of bullshit too but sure, you don't need animal protein to build muscle obviously
That documentary made me vegan
Excellent as always Ed .I admire how you avoid arguments and allow the person to speak and explain their views before answering. This is the way forward 👏
I wish I could speak like Ed

He will be an amazing vegan! Hopefully he can break the wheel and change. He is so polite and sweet
This was a pleasant conversation. It's refreshing to see someone being open to what you have to say.
Thank you for your work, Ed. I really appreciate it.
Really great conversation, so refreshing to see someone genuinely curious about perspectives outside their own.

Great conversation! I really enjoyed your intelligent, honest and polite chat! Thank you! 💜
You give him something nice to think about Ed!! And you are so nice kind stranger 🌱❤️
A real likeable person who actually seemed interested and listened to what you had to say
What a great discussion! Wonderful to see someone that is a meat eater actually have a rational, calm, thoughtful discussion about veganism. More of these types of discussions would be so productive.
Aww. The guy being interviewed is awesome. He didn’t feel defensive at all, he came to the table with an open mind and open heart. Respect to him!
I’m just watching how I walked right past this into the art block behind these two without realising :(
Ed I love you, man. Keep up the awesome work, we're all cheering for you!
I think this makes for my top debates Ed has put up. I get stressed out when things get too heated.
Keep it up! You're just ahead of the trend :) I'm sure your friends and other classmates will get there soon and wonder why they didn't do it sooner!
Yeah that’s like being gay before it was acceptable/trendy. All you can do is wait until everyone else turns vegan
we can be internet friends hehe
Wow, a stunningly open minded and thoughtful conservation from this guy. You can tell he really thought this through instead of the common knee-jerk comments/reactions. Really lovely to see.
This person reminded me so much of myself before I became plant based. To hear that they also selected the vegan lunch option after the talk is great.
What a beautiful and respectfull a conversation!
Ed, you are an amazing person and you inspired me a lot to go vegan. I was vegetarian for 5 months. However, I'm so happy to announce that I am vegan now and it's been a month. There is no way for me to go back to that inhumane consuming style. Thank you a lot.

Probably the most polite discussion on youtube.

I look forward to donating on that ebook, perhaps even subscribe a monthly donation in the near future. Thank you for your efforts, and I hope you prosper in other areas of your life.
Great conversation, on both ends.
Ed is so smooth. I have a hard time keeping my cool with most people. Great video !
Ed: What does humane mean to you?
Someone that eats animals: Natural death
Me: Woooow this guy gets it!
Right, that was the best answer I've ever heard 👌💚🌱🌍
@Hashtag GetRekt humane means compassionate, kind. So you may _consider_ it to mean a quick murder, but that would be incorrect.
Hashtag GetRekt so killing another human is only wrong because it’s illegal?
love this conversation! thanks for being such a good example, Ed!
