@@tooltester indeed. I do always add the titles, or alt text but not seeing much results. Would be good to see some sort of test for this. Thanks for your insight!
This video is okay but it's not very fair. Squarespace does let you customize SEO for blogs and metadata in galleries beyond just alt text. If you notice at 2:24, you can see up top above the blog post title a button for content, options, location and social. Under options you can customize your title and you can add your descriptions, optimize for SEO and more, you just have to know how to play around with it. I will concede on some design features wix allows for more freedom. But unless you're an experienced web designer or UX designer this could do you more harm than good. Additionally wix doesn't auto-format for mobile, which is a huge risk for your business since most people search and reach first impression through mobile devices anyway. Wix apps are good, better than Squarespace, but Squarespace does have extensions (or apps if you will) that you can connect to your site, it's a newer feature but they have it. Here's the final summary: Wix is great if you know what you're doing, what to plug in, and how to maximize it's potential, but Squarespace gives you the opportunity to maximize your own potential even with little knowledge of how to use. I recommend taking the 14 day trial of Squarespace and the free wix site and see which you like more. Hi Mohamed, a lot of pretty big companies use WordPress these days. But if you are talking about really big companies (Airbnb, Amazon etc.), they use custom-made websites.
I really tried my best to use Squarespace because my friend used it to create her website and I loved hers. However, I could not figure it out as easily as I figured out WIX. In the end, I went with Wix and I'm really happy with it.
Hi there. Let me say first that Squarespace is a great and solid tool. However, I find it also a bit more difficult to get around than Wix. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Elizabeth. I would say that Squarespace is the better option, when it comes to blogging, e.g. due to more features and bigger flexibility regarding the layouts. However, it's a bit more difficult to use than Wix. You may find some more useful tips on how to start a successful blog here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/how-to-start-a-successful-blog/
I do like the Wix free option. Which would be great for webpage for a single event like a party or concert. Then when it’s done you can delete it and have paid nothing.
True… you could even hire a cheap domain and redirect it to the free version if you want.. the only downside is that it will say “made by WIX” with WIX ads

Thanks for your feedback! I don't think that's the case but if you prefer Squarespace that's completely fine! This comparison is based on features and we found Wix to be a bit stronger. Of course, Squarespace is also a very good website builder that has a lot of strong points.
Hi there, great video very helpful,, my question is I need a website where I can put affiliate links, not selling anything just the links, is Wix good for that and I'm honestly a total noob to all this so would I be able to build a website myself on Wix? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Mark, oh no, that wouldn't work. Squarespace's online store is meant to be run by one seller. You should probably look into Shopify instead, they seem to have some marketplace apps.
Hi there. I honestly don't think that an iPad or a phone is the most efficient way to use a website builder. I would suggest you to actually use a desktop. For example, placing elements and changing options can be tedious without a mouse.

This is a fantastic comparison video. Keep it up. But y’all should compare Wix to Wordpress. Both Wix and Squarespace are akin to a walled garden. For those not worried about investing a little bit more time, I would’ve chosen wordpress as it beats both in pricing, seo, flexibility, plugins and widget options, and (with tweaking) page speed.

Hi Sheharyar. Producing our video reviews is always quite a bit of work and as there are many providers on the market, we unfortunately can't consider all of them. Also, users' interest in Blogger has been declining over the last years, statistics say: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/cms-market-share/
Wix is the only one that let's you have a free account. But neither will let you connect your own domain name for free, sorry. More about free website builders here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/best-free-website-builders/
you are overlooking one crucial aspect: wix templates are not responsive! so you need to edit for web and mobile separately. Wix templates overall look less professional than squarespace when it comes to design.
Hi Stanley, thanks for your feedback. We focused on the main differences, and it would be difficult to pick a winner for the designs and templates, both are great. It's certainly true that the mobile version of Wix is not responsive and may involve a bit of extra-work, but it's also more flexible as you can adapt the mobile page to your needs. IMO both approaches have pros and cons. About the design, it's a personal call. One could say that Squarespace's templates look a bit better, but honestly I think Wix's are great too and they have hundreds of them.

@@tooltester That's the problem with comparisons: they're usually seen as market/code research to improve on the competition, so it's hard to track who's on top from one moment to the next. The only thing that has me wary about Squarespace is the loss of data when cancelling payments, at least according to this video. They may have changed that.
If your website is damm slow, it is basically useless and defeat the purpose of having it at all, despite how easy or how user friendly the tool is, no matter how many days and nights you have spent to create the website. Wix loading time is just damm suck. I picked up wix many years ago for several websites build, my thoughts is . It is really take times to master one tool, so I fxxking stupid stick to it, learned and improved the websites with all methods tried. But no sign of improvement at all. It only load faster if it have cached (meaning you have visited the side before), but it will kill you and destroy all your on going marketing efforts to promote the site for new leads. Out of no choice, I transfer one of my website to squarespace, same content, similar design, same size of images. The result : It load WAY faster and smoother on either destop or mobile. Wix will not allow me to add this domain. I have to be honest, wix is a nightmare to contact for advice. there no phone number or email contact on the web site. There is only answer and question page. Please can you help me . If i cannot add my domain to wix there I will have to cancel my account.
Hi there. Yes, you should be able to connect (or transfer) your domain name to Wix. It's not difficult. Since this is something a lot of users ask, we prepared a detailed guide about Wix and domain names: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/wix-domain-and-email/
Hi, WebsiteToolTester, Robert, I like your videos because they give a clear view of which website will be the best choice for me. Can you please make a video on if I should choose Etsy or Shopify? And also on Etsy and Wix? Pleaseee, thanks.
Hi! We'll certainly consider it. Appreciate the suggestion!
@@tooltester Thanksss! :)
Do you guys have videos on yoast vs rank math?
Unfortunately we don't, but we have a lot of experience using Yoast so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
@@tooltester I made a post template that has a table of contents and navigation links. so it automatically shows up on every post. But yoast is still giving me red marks, is this common?
@@ariela_ it's normal to still get red marks when you first upload a post, as the template itself won't automatically fix content issues. So we'd recommend going through Yoast's analysis to see what you can fix. If you're still getting those red marks after you've fixed everything you can, it's best to get in touch with Yoast support. I hope that answered your question!
What software does big companies use to build their websites
Is it Adobe dreamweaver?
Hi Mohamed, a lot of pretty big companies use WordPress these days. But if you are talking about really big companies (Airbnb, Amazon etc.), they use custom-made websites.
@@tooltester thank you for the information
Yes square space is aesthetically pleasing but Wix is thorough and less cumbersome
Thank you for clarifying! You're time savers!
You can check again in next video? I saw that 2 programs add new features. If you can reupload new video about this theme.
Hey! Which features do you mean?
I really tried my best to use Squarespace because my friend used it to create her website and I loved hers. However, I could not figure it out as easily as I figured out WIX. In the end, I went with Wix and I'm really happy with it.
Hi there. Let me say first that Squarespace is a great and solid tool. However, I find it also a bit more difficult to get around than Wix. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hello, thanks again. I liked it very much.
Awesome, Great video. Thanks for the upload.
perfectly answered my question!!
very helpful thankyou
I'm looking into a website for a blog and this was helpful! Tough choice with deciding on the best for blogging options..
@@tooltester Thank you for the info! I'll definitely take a read through. Much appreciated :)
Great Video... Very concise and views nicely put across.... Compliments....& yes Subscribed 🙂
REALLY CLEARLY COMPARED AND EXPLAINED - THANKS
I do like the Wix free option. Which would be great for webpage for a single event like a party or concert. Then when it’s done you can delete it and have paid nothing.
True… you could even hire a cheap domain and redirect it to the free version if you want.. the only downside is that it will say “made by WIX” with WIX ads
now i know where i can make my website. thank you.
I do love wix but what i don't like is the limited storage while swuarespace has unlimited bandwidth and storage and wix has limited storage:c
Hi there. Yes, storage can be an issue with Wix if you are looking to host larger websites, you are right!
Thanks for clearing up. M buying Wix !
Very helpful!
You can tell just from the tone of his voice that he's biased toward Wix. Even in parts that Squarespace wins the point, the tone of his voice when he talks about Wix isn't as "negative" as it is when Wix wins the point and he talks about Squarespace.
Thanks for your feedback! I don't think that's the case but if you prefer Squarespace that's completely fine! This comparison is based on features and we found Wix to be a bit stronger. Of course, Squarespace is also a very good website builder that has a lot of strong points.
@@tooltester I don't have a preference. The tones I speak of could be subconscious. It happens.
@@xSLWRTHNUx Fair enough :) Just let me know what website builder you are going for in the end!
Hi there, great video very helpful,, my question is I need a website where I can put affiliate links, not selling anything just the links, is Wix good for that and I'm honestly a total noob to all this so would I be able to build a website myself on Wix? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi Chris! Affiliate links work like any other link. You can add them to your texts, images and buttons. Feel free to try it out in their free plan. You'll find more info in our review: www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/
Thanks this definitely helps
Can Squarespace accommodate say 1000 different sellers on the one website, each with their own profile?
Hi Mark, oh no, that wouldn't work. Squarespace's online store is meant to be run by one seller. You should probably look into Shopify instead, they seem to have some marketplace apps.
I tried Wix, but I couldn’t get it to login on my iPad so it failed me before I even got to use it
Hi there. I honestly don't think that an iPad or a phone is the most efficient way to use a website builder. I would suggest you to actually use a desktop. For example, placing elements and changing options can be tedious without a mouse.
@@tooltester Hi, I've just started using Wix but I'm struggling with the mobile version. Earlier any changes I made on my desktop version were reflecting on mobile, but that isn't happening anymore. I've to manually make the changes for the mobile version which as you can imagine is very painful :| Just wanted to know more about the mobile version for both Wix and Squarespace..any insight will be helpful. Thanks in advance :)
@@okonkwo5 Squarespace's templates are responsive. This means the adapt automatically. This can be good, but when there's something that you want to change, it won't be possible (order, spacing, etc.). Therefore, I find Wix more flexible than Squarespace.
@@tooltester Thanks for the quick response, this is very helpful :)
Thanks very informative
do both companies provide the ability to have a store with your website with something like PayPal ?
Yes, both stores offer PayPal, credit card and other payment options as checkout. You can compare their features in our side-by-side comparison. www.websitetooltester.com/en/shopify-vs-wix-ecommerce-vs-squarespace-ecommerce/
What about load speed?
That's a good question. We haven't done an in-depth comparison so I don't have actual data. But my general impression is that both tools need to improve this. You could check the speed of a couple of their demos sites to see for yourself.
load speed absolutely go to square space. I tried both. Square Space has faster loading speed and more stable.
thanks for the video, this was really helpful!
Thanks for the kind words, happy to hear you found our video helpful.
great video, helped me a lot!
Hi there. Yes, comparing them to WordPress is a good point. In fact, we have a video about Wix vs WordPress, find it here: th-cam.com/video/z_XaTeO-zMk/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant review
Tbh i dont mind slow support service, even it's useful for e-commerce website, but yeah.
Thank you your time OP
Thanks for your feedback! Just in case you are interested, we did a support test for a lot of providers. Find the results here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/website-builder-support/
Thank you, very much !
Really is this a comparison video or a commercial for Wix?
Hi Mohan, definitely not a commercial. Are you disagreeing with anything we say in the video?
This was great! Thanks so much!
video about blogger please
Hi Sheharyar. Producing our video reviews is always quite a bit of work and as there are many providers on the market, we unfortunately can't consider all of them. Also, users' interest in Blogger has been declining over the last years, statistics say: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/cms-market-share/
Which one is free and is easy let’s you have a free domain
Wix is the only one that let's you have a free account. But neither will let you connect your own domain name for free, sorry. More about free website builders here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/best-free-website-builders/
Jesus how long did it take to make this video for you guy?
We hope you liked it. :-)
Good Info- thank you!
you are overlooking one crucial aspect: wix templates are not responsive! so you need to edit for web and mobile separately.
Thank you so much
Re: Wix support -- I had an issue late at night, I went to "help," and got a live person to call me back on the phone within minutes, and walk me through the issue
Hey Tod. I am glad that you were able to solve the issue so quick. Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Thank you !!
I vote wix because it gives a free domain and they design stunning logo examples. Also i vote for wix because i used a logo they made for my YT channel logo.
Thanks! I have to say, you get the same domain deal with Squarespace (free domain for 1 year with yearly contracts). They also have a logo maker. But if Wix and its tools work for you, that's great to hear!
@@tooltesterNice content! we encourage you to make more videos!
Thanks for this insight, I have been working to find a really great way to build my stire up agains and I was betting on Wix with the odds and I won! Thanks WTT
Looking forward to hearing about your experience with Wix!
The SEO information for squarespace is inaccurate. This seems like a heavily bias video.
Hi Alice. A couple of months ago Squarespace improved their SEO options (e.g. now page titles for every content) and now they are as good as Wix's. Find more information about this in this article: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/best-website-builder-for-seo/
@@tooltester That's the problem with comparisons: they're usually seen as market/code research to improve on the competition, so it's hard to track who's on top from one moment to the next. The only thing that has me wary about Squarespace is the loss of data when cancelling payments, at least according to this video. They may have changed that.
So helpful. Thanks
Glad to hear that :-)
thanks
this shit was so helpful congrats you have a subscriber
Wix all the way!
Thank youuu!🤗
This video made break into some crazy dance moves when the cool beat came up! Anyone else?? 😂
Hahaha! :D That's great! :)
Dis agree about support. I have used both. WIX was better. You could talk to them on the phone. SS only live chat.
Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your feedback about their support teams with us!
Nice video!
Thanks!
WIX 👍🏾👌🏽
Enough is enough.i am on the way to transfer all sites that build on wix to squarespace. Period.
This is a great example of sponsored content.
It's not sponsored.
Honestly WIX is the best in terms of lfexibility. Squarespace can be a nightmare though it looks cleane rI would say
Hi Joana. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us! Personally, I agree with what you say, Wix is for me more flexible, but Squarespace sites can look slick too.
I like squarespace more only because of the Oscar the grouch ad 😂
Fair enough 😂
Perfect
life saver!
You left out e-commerce
Hi there. you are right, the ecommerce topic is so big that we probably would need a full video just for it. We will take your feedback into account and maybe produce such a video :-)
But I would say that both tools are good for small to medium online stores and they have many interesting features. Perhaps I think Wix is more rounded as they have added many ecommerce-focused features lately. But if you are looking to create a large ecommerce, perhaps Shopify is a better alternative? th-cam.com/video/lTx8wojAQkE/w-d-xo.html
@@tooltester thank you. I here squarespace has with beat in that category
