I understand I was afraid of dogs and I overcame it. Once you are tired of your fear controlling your life you will overcome it.
I am deathly afraid of frogs and toads, so I can totally relate. You know it's irrational (that's what a phobia is), but it doesn't mean it's not real and doesn't cause you real stress. I hope someday, Tamron, you can get to know a sweet cat that you like. And some cats don't want to be held, so maybe Mr. Orange from the back deck just wants in but would be perfectly fine with you ignoring him! Good luck!
Poor Tamron. That was hard to watch because she was genuinely uncomfortable. Cats are definitely less predictable than dogs. God bless her for trying to face that fear.
Cats _aren't_ less predictable than dogs. The warning signs between the two species are just different. Cats give _plenty_ of warning before they become physically defensive. Learn about their body posture, and then reading a cat becomes quite easy!

My daughter LOVES cats, Her cat attacked her one day and left deep scars on her legs. After that she was afraid of cats for several days.
Tamron, I thought I was the only one. I could not even be on the other side of this table. They are downright SCARY AND UNPREDICTABLE.

I'm going to share this with my mom because she fears cats. I sort of have a fear, too, because I didn't grow up with them. It's more so the fear of the unknown. However, I would like to adopt a kitten or two in the future so I've been watching videos on YT about cats. (:

In all fairness I love cats but picking up a cat I don't know is always something to be cautious of. They can scratch after all. My sister's cat knows me well but if I try to hold him he'll scratch the hell out of me.

How can you fear cats? I get fearing huge ass dogs but cats? I’m a cat person. I’m subscribed to more cat channels than human channels lol. I mean I fear butterflies so I guess cats can be scary
I don’t like cats at all. I’m also scared of them and I do not go near them at all. If someone has one I kind of dodge them cause I think they are evil and yes very unpredictable
You just have to know their language. Cats aren't unpredicatable at all. They just have a highly sensitive nervous system so they get overstimulated if they're not pet the correct way. They give you _plenty_ of warning with their posture and body movements long before they start swatting though. So long as you are intuitive of their warning signs and know when they need to take a break, your interactions with them should all be pleasant ones.

I’ve had a couple bad experiences over 20 years ago so I just never cared for cats, wouldn’t hurt them of course. My entire family knows I’m just a small dog kind of girl that’s why I have a miniature poodle😊. I’m entitled to feel how I feel and speak on it but I do thank you for not attacking me for my opinion

May I ask why? I'm not afraid of cats. I come in contact with 1 every Monday. This cat shows it's teeth and purrs at me. I'm there to do my job. The cat owner said I never seen her do this before.

@@latariabrown No, I am looking at this through a rational perspective, it's not mean to be honest. Look at it this way, how many people use fear to abuse others? How many use fear to train dogs? How many use fear to abuse animals, domesticated pets? When we conquer the fear, we conquer the need to defend ourselves by hurting another. I am not saying that Tamorn is abusing any animal, I am saying that she has a responsibility since she's on national television to use her platform to show courage, not fear. Yes it takes patience, off camera preferable. She should've not gone on here to pick up a domesticated cat (not from the wild so silly to fear it) in front of the world to then show fear of a BLACK cat, ironically, which most religious people fear and abuse or throw away and dump just because they demonize a black cat. She has a responsibility that if she knew this would fail on tv, she should've tried this several times off camera and then if she starts to conquer the fear or feel less fearful she can then have the tape rolling for broadcasting. How many animals are dumped or abused because of this FEAR. it's no excuse! I am an animal activist and I see this happening all the time.
I use to be a professional dancer in a dance company and was given an albino snake to dance with on stage, I had terrible fear of snakes but how did i get over it? by dancing with the snake many times in rehearsals and not letting my fear take over. it's mind over matter, anyone can apply it if they tried. So it's not mean to be honest, what is mean is to enable cowards!
