  • This is a how to video for a Yamaha yxz. In this video we took the transmission out and replaced the gears in it, to reduce speed and increase low end torque.

      That is true but I did not have the tools to take them off at the time, and now I don't have to carry special tools on the trail if I ever need to take off the doors.

    Hi,
    I just installed GYTR Torque Assist Gear kit for my 2017 YXZ1000r SS SE. For the installation, i have Yamaha Diagnostic Tool which is required when finishing the installation. My question is what would be the optimal number value when adjusting clutch engagement point of the YCC-S System? They say factory value is 0 and i haven't changed the clutch actuator.
    Thanks you

      @codym8124  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure on that, I would try setting it on 0 if that is the factory recommendation. Also ask a teck. at a Yamaha shop they should know who to talk to about that.

    Have you heard anything about the burnt clutches because of poor lubrication in the clutch assembly ? Have you had any clutch failures yet ? Great work !

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think most of the clutch problems come from the high gearing. You end up slipping the clutch more because of it, and no failures yet.

      Colored separator plates don’t mean over heat, they just indicate oil staining. Bluing is when you should get concerned.

      @@af8lbite205 never thought about it that way. It's a possibility.

    ask them to build it like the Honda with one wheel drive how much coloring on the clutch plates would there be with only street use also holy cow it looks like an advanced mechanics only

    Is that a plastic gear if so what is it?
    Also I'm Curious whether you are gonna run a bigger tire along with this reduction or stay stock?

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is a white plastic gear that runs the oil pump. We are not changing tire or rim size right now because the tires are brand new. Also, this yxz came with very nice bead lock rims. When the tires are gone, we may put a larger size on it.

    How do you like it in what size tires are you running now

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Still running stock tires on it. It is great for crawling and rough trails, but it is kinda slow on a dirt road.

      @@codym8124 that's been my question. I ride the dunes, pretty much wide open but stock 3rd gear is useless on hill climbs as sometimes 2nd is too tall geared for climbing the biggest dunes. She barely hits 80 in 5th gear since it's out of go at that point. With the gear reduction what's your top speed?

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vf12497439 maybe 60, if you ride the dunes don't get a gear reduction.

      @@codym8124 thanks, too bad they didnt offer a smaller reduction kit? 60 mph isnt everywhere on the dunes. My car can only hit 70 now unless on hard pack like the beach. It's so tall geared I cant pull 5th. Running stock 27 inch tires. Maybe I need smaller? Lol

    So - from park to key on, how much time did it actually take?

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We spent roughly 16 hours on it, but it can be done in one day. I took the transmission out a second time and it took 3 hours to get out. I slid the rear differential back, witch was much easier. I believe a skilled mechanic could do it from key off to key on in 10 hours.

    Once again. Spend all that money. Just to put more into it. Until Yamaha puts low range in these. They r shit.

    • @codym8124
      @codym8124  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True, but it is a standard tranny and it was cheaper tan a razor 1000. If I lived near glams California I would have never needed to touched the transmission, but yes a four low would be greatly appreciated by anyone not riding on sand.
