Hey thanks Retro! Yeah this took me about month to finish, making and modelling the ship was quite intensive and I was still learning Substance Painter at the same time lol I had to work on this whilst making other scenes 👍 The ship started out as a Kitbash piece but ended up being quite bespoke.
@@AmbientRenders ships are really fun to make!! i hope you had fun with this. outstanding job! im jealous over those volumetric smokes, im asuming they're real time with unreal engine, in blender it'd take me days to make hahah and those animated bodies as well,great work!
@@RetrovexAmbient cheers 🙂 They’re Heterogeneous volumes. I would never use them in a game, but for this they’re pretty good. Although Unreal has huge issues playing back more than two or three at once, even offline rendering them, they tend to flicker sometimes which is very frustrating. Actually there was a much better third party VDB plugin back in UE5.2, which I think was way way better than what Epic added. The VDB plugin they have now(which is native) is pretty awful tbh. But unfortunately the old plugin was deprecated after UE5.3, which was a real shame. So I will likely go back to using flip books. They’re more reliable and you can have way more of them. But VDBs are ok for certain things. Good when the camera is flying around. Cards fall down easy, so had to make a choice of what to use 👍 And making these kinds of scene are my favourite things to do 👍
Wow, the creativity with this is next level. My mind is already filling in an awesome story. This is the kinda stuff the ambient backgrounds are all about. I love it❤

Sure, and thank you. I tend to go through phases, I’m in a rain phase at the moment but will always mix things up as I go 👍🙂 Fires usually work better in the winter and rain and swimming pools in the summer 👍

Hey there thank you, I have thought about that, and I have done that in the past in other videos, but doing that does mean a fair bit more work and rendering, so it’s a lot like making multiple different videos for one video, and doing that in the past has proven to be uneconomical for me when I consider workload vs views. So, what I think I’d rather do, is make multiple videos from different angles and post them separately. This just seems like that be a better return on the work I put into something like this one 🙂 I hope I haven’t just come across like some money hungry businessman, but I need to think from that perspective sometimes, especially as some of these scenes take so long 😵

Not familiar with 3d these days and i don't know how much of the camera work can be done programmatically. Anyway, wish you many 100k more of subs! Your works deserve that.

Request something similar to: pov out of a bunk window looking forward towards the front of the an old wooden ship (or to the side with a galley walk before the side of the ship). the ship is in a storm with the sounds of creaking wood, rain, aggressive thunder cracks, chains moving and rolling about, water crashing over the sides before hitting the window we're looking out of. an approximation of the true motion of a ship in a storm: rising over large waves then falling down the other side faster and crashing water over the bow and sides as the ship hits the bottom of the other side of the wave. also slight turns to either side when as if the captain is fighting to keep the ship straight when going over big waves. lanterns, the occasional shine from the moon and lightning for lighting.
I don't know if you return to read comments on older ambience videos, but I remember you said you wanted to add a little something to each of the videos to have a little fun easter egg. In this one, it was the panning shot at the beginning. In the future, would you be willing to put something at the beginning and the end? For example, in this video, the "little something" at the end would be that the repairs are completed and the ship takes off.
Hi yes this is put together using UE5 👍 I used Substance Painter for texture work on the ship and a bit of 3DSmax work to Kitbash the ship together. But it’s mainly UE5.
I thought about that, but in this scene you are part of the crew, so you’d have to leave with them 🙂 There’s plenty of stories I can do with this though, so there’s always more to come 👍 I’d like to have this ship arrive at a space port oneday 🙂

I have told countless people abt you and i hope it helped your channel, I absolutely love your videos, i was in a bad place in my life and your vidoes had the best quality and best sounds. Please keep it up man. and try to stop the people who steal your videos.

I plan on making an alternate version of this in the snow closer to the holidays. Originally this was during the day and in sunshine. But changed my mind, I could make a daytime version of this perhaps.
Hey there 👋 I have a fairly old Threadripper CPU, but I also have 128GB of RAM and a 4090RTX GFX card 👍 And a bunch of SSD’s for speed, which are mainly Firecuda drives.
The motorcycles and main ship are my own vehicles made up from Kitbash components, I use components from Kitbash3D and BigMediumSmall 👍 They’re both great Kitbash companies, they sell kits so you can make you’re own designs quickly 👍 Which is perfect for what I do. I highly recommend them if you want to put things together quickly 👍 The buggy is a large kit assembly that I thought looked cool so throw it in there ready made 👍 Suffice to say I had still made changes to the materials to these assets by the time this scene was finished 🙂 I have some Timelapse videos of putting together the bikes and main ship that I will likely post at some point 🙂👍
