    As requested, here's another live rehearsal one-take. You're hearing the exact mix I hear on stage in my in-ear-monitors - this is about as perfect a mix as I've ever had for a live show and when paired with my Porter and Davies BC gigster (drum throne monitor), the 'feel' on stage is huge.
    'Tourniquet' is a song that we've only ever performed on stage a handful of times so it still feels very fresh and 'jammable' compared to some of the other songs. It's definitely a breath of fresh air during longer energetic shows. Hands up if you've literally cried to this one?
    As with all of my recent videos, there's zero editing here - this is a one-take human performance. I find it refreshing to post raw videos like this rather than super edited, mega clean vids - what do you guys think?
    If you're a drummer and are interested in developing your 'groove' while jamming complex patterns - let's talk! I offer free Zoom lessons/calls for anyone interested in taking their drumming to the next level - you can find out more here: jaypostones-drumlessons.com/p...

    Have I ever literally cried to this one? OH YEAH! This is powerful song, the tones from everyone, the groove of the drums and the lyrics really get to me. Found this song during a big life change and it's never left my rotation. Thank you for this, always good to hear what the mix in the IEM sound like.

    Jay you’re such an increíble drummer and inspiration, congrats! Love that song and how groovy you sound 😱🤯
    Actually, you’ve inspired me so much with you’re left foot and ghost notes that I was actively working on that consistently. Nevertheless, I think I went overboard with the left foot, don’t know if is tendinitis or what, but the left side of my foot is having this constant pain for a while, even after stopping entirely for a while.
    Not asking here for medical advice, I should probably get that checked out by a doctor, but, have you encountered such a struggle before? It amazes me how your left foot is there always rocking, and I wonder how you develop such endurance in your foot… have you ever had pain related to it? do you have any idea what could be the problem and why? My guess now is that I was stomping and probably doing it loosely would be the way to go, but haven’t recovered, so no idea. Would appreciate any feedback!
    Take care and keep rocking it 👏🏽🤘🏽

    • @JayTesseracT
      @JayTesseracT  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely get it checked out but no, I haven’t encountered that myself. Most of the time, pain when playing comes down to poor or inefficient technique which forces you to play through pain. I’m 100% about making playing as efficient as possible as I want to be able to do this for a long time.
      I have a free lesson on my pedal hat technique which you may find useful: jaypostones-drumlessons.com/pedal-hat-technique/
      But 100% don’t play through pain - get it checked out and look after yourself ❤️

    Awesome performance as always. Much respect to you and the band. So question...maybe do a drum vlog talking about or maybe you already answered...
    How come your using triggers on everything now? Sampling + raw = awesome sound? or just for in ears?

    • @JayTesseracT
      @JayTesseracT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. The triggers are used for gates - we’re not triggering any samples. They purely keep the mics closed until I hit the drum.
      2. I mainly need to hear myself and a little bit of backing track / synth stuff. Most of everything else I hear in the stage ambiance and having it too direct in my ears is a distraction, for me

    • @puertoricodrum
      @puertoricodrum ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JayTesseracT wow that was fast lol...thanks for answering.
      Awesome, never even thought of triggers as gates...very interesting. Got to look into that. Specially on snare.
      I deleted the question on inear because I saw on the comments you answered someone but thanks for answering, anyway makes sense. You guys are running a complete production on click plus but the tempo changes...with that kind of pressure I think I would prefer your mix too.

  • @RobAbfallDrums
    @RobAbfallDrums ปีที่แล้ว

    hey Jay great drumming! I have a question about your hi-hat cymbals ...do you find the Foundry Reserve line to be able to cut through the mix and how do you like the hats, the 15's are on my wish list! The reviews always play some jazz riffs.... and I'm like well can these cut it in a metal band or heavier rock?

    • @JayTesseracT
      @JayTesseracT  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear a load of it in the on stage ‘noise’ so I have just what I need in my IEMs. I can always turn things up a little more if needed live but generally I just want drums and click

    • @JayTesseracT

      Tbh I’m so used to the click now that I’m playing with a load of ‘feel’ even with it. At least, it feels that way to me. There’s no way Tess will even play live without a metronome as all of the guitar effects switching etc is all programmed, so we are locked in now
