    I'll definitely start the rain shower routine when watering. I just did a neem oil spray a few days ago and was so impressed to see how shiny the leaves became, never have I seen any of my plants looking so instagrammable 😄😄🍀🌿🪴 was treating my plants for fungus gnats and will now start this neem oil thing in my houseplant care routine. Thanks so much for this ideas. Happy "foliaging" 🌱🪴🍀☘🍃🌿

    Great advice! I do something similar, I brought a shower hose that attaches to my kitchen sink! I give them a good shower when I water especially the ones in LECA! No over watering with them . 😍🌱

    Great video once again 😊 i need to get myself down to Bunnings tomorrow to pick up some Eco plant oil,, i have seen u using it and mentioning it it a lot of your videos and i think it looks like a great solution to many things as i haven't tried that spray yet. Thankyou for posting this vid, hope u are having a happy week 🌺

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, Sally! Yes, eco oil is so very versatile and I use it a lot! I have heard though that is that's the only kind of pest cure you use, pests can become immune to it. I don't know how true it is, but I sometimes change it up between neem and eco just to be safe. I need to get to Bunnings too, but snap lockdown in Victoria has kept me away for a bit. Probably a good thing, I really shouldn't be spending money right now! Haha hope you're also having a good week.

    I have a really dumb question haha wouldnt showering the plant drench the soil and harm it? In other words, is there such thing as getting the soil too wet during waterings?

    • @simonjohnston9488
      @simonjohnston9488 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As long as your pot has drainage holes, leave it in the basin or shower for a few minutes and as long as your growing medium is good, it'll drain what needs to be drained.

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What Simon has commented it spot on. In addition to that, the amount of watering isn't what's harmful as much as is the FREQUENCY of watering. Water it once WELL, allow to drain and DRY and then repeat the process. :)

    Do you have suggestion on plants who have 'leave crown' in which the shower water could be trapped in and causing rots??
    I am so intrigued to shower my plants, but kinda worries if the water got trapped 😅 usually I water the media only

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never had an issue, I just make sure that I allow the water to drain out the bottom, shake off the excess water and allow them to be in a space with lots of airflow. :)

    Is neem oil ok for all plants including ferns?

    • @vickykent353

      I just received an order of Chrysal Leaf Shine from Amazon. Ingredients weren't included either on the Amazon description or on the can! But, there is a bright red square shape as a warning with flame inside, indicating 🔥 possible! I Googled the ingredients immediately and found that it has isoparaffin, butane, propane, propan-2-ol. As I see it, it has chemicals that I don't want to expose my plants to. I'm returning it to Amazon post-haste. Shiny leaves are beautiful to look at but not at the expense of my plants. From what I've seen, it seems that vinegar and water or lemon juice and water are the natural, organic way to go. That's what I'm going to be doing. 😊

    i wiped my leaves with sunflower oil inorder to make them shiny , later realized i shouldnt have done that , now the leaves are with oil stains andthey dont go away ... i washed the leaves with shampoo twice already yet its stilll greasy what should i do? will my leaves rot away?

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Anytime we use any kind of oil to shine our leaves, we should always dilute them down with water. Unfortunately grease stains don't go away once they occur. I've made the same mistake myself and there's no going back. I haven't found my leaves to rot away though. The stains just stay on the leaves. :(

  • @simonjohnston9488
    @simonjohnston9488 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Paraffin though. It's the paraffin that give those leaves the look they have - but it's a petroleum and/or coal product. They do look nice and shiny, but they don't look natural at all.

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Each to their own, for sure! There are also natural products to get the leaves clean and shiny without using sprays like this.
