That River Tarpon-like fish you mentioned is actually a Chinese-Korean native species called Topmouth Culter/Skygazer, and is one of the most famous game fish here in China. Caught some of them here on spinners, spoons, minnows, and also walkers, they are a fun fish to catch ngl. They also have another relatives called the Redtail Culter, which also lives in Mongolia.
Harry just had some time to catch up on this one. I'm travelling myself now with the family currently in Central Coast California. Fishing has been great. Mad city Seoul looks.🐟
Wow mate what an adventure and memories your making, I'm absolutely transfixed go you and take my hat off to you, can't wait for you to tell of how you're now living there wow, keep those vids coming can't get enough ha .
@BangAverageFishing Thanks for replying. Perhaps, if there's a next visit, you will have more time and a local guide. The largemouth bass fishing, although invasive (every Korean will remind you if this), is pervasive everywhere and eagerly take artificial lures. On the mountainous, eastern slopes, you can find Cherry trouts and lenok. There are also excellent fishing shops throughout South Korea. Hope you can make another visit when you have a break, from your work, in Japan.
I lived in Korea for nearly 5 years and really loved it but it is absolutely not a great place for a casual visit for all the reasons you mentioned. Still you’ve put together a great video of a place none of us will fish (especially not after seeing this!) Looking forward to learning about your Japan story. Seems like you’ve landed a great opportunity there!
Aye I think I want to go back and see the country as a whole because Seoul is not a true reflection but I’m glad I’m not being an idiot there! Just wanted to give an honest opinion! Amazing you lived there for 5 years though did you do any fishing!?! On it’s way soon my friend and thank you for your lovely words!!
@@japanesefishingadventures it took me and my wife about 3 months to properly settle in and we were based in Busan which is closer to Japan than Seoul. No fishing done here but loads of seafood eaten, and a little bit of dog soup (hence my account name here) just for the tick box, actually surprisingly nice to eat if you can get your head round it!
Hi Harry - I knew you weren’t coming back soon - congrats on the job - envious that you get an extended period there - excited to hear what you will be up to! Great video - can’t wait for more Japanese content - tight lines- Mick 👍
HERO MICK! Knew you’d love this 🥹 very excited to start a new chapter here it’s pretty mega to be honest with you!!! Will keep you very posted on the journey!!
Hiya, I normally watch Korean vlogs, and somehow you popped up so I thought I’d check you out, and enjoyed it. So I’ll keep on watching. Looking forward to watching you in Japan.
All worked well actually! However with the water colour being dirty and brown I would go for anything white or loud aggressive lures! Something big and bright that can’t be missed and with loads of vibration!! Spoons work superb for the river tarpon!
Nice, personally I loved Seoul for a visit. Crazy place and amazing food although you seemed to avoid most of that 😅 Those river tarpon look a lot like Asp that you get in Europe. Maybe they are distantly related? You should have checked out the Bukhansan national park just on the edge of the city. Beautiful little hills with forests scatterered with granite boulders and temples. There are some rivers and streams as well but I guess they would have been brown torrents given the weather. Looking forward to the Japan back story video! Always wanted to do a year or two working in Asia but never did.
Haha aye John each to our own we all have places we like and places we love! Just for me it lacked some character! I didn’t put in a lot of what I filmed and that was very weather related 😂 which fair ruined things! Also on a budget which never helps any trip!! Thank you for watching mate bloody legend 😄
I discovered your channel when I searched lake district fishing and I've been hooked ever since. Would love to travel the world and fish. Also I believe these fish are called skygazers or predatory carps
Mate thank you for reaching out and seen your amazing comments so thank you so much for watching and supporting! It means a hell of a lot! Hope you’re enjoying and tight lines ! LEGEND
@@japanesefishingadventures Thank you so much for your content and your response. Tight lines to you too and I certainly will keep watching and enjoying
My man! So glad to find your channel. Thanks so much for posting this video, especially since I'm moving to Seoul in a few months and was checking if there is good fishing to be had. Is there any chance you can recall which bridge/area this was? No worries if you can't, cheers mate
Glad you enjoyed it pal and good luck living in Seoul! Have a great time and enjoy! Some smashing fishing to be fair - and the river has a good head of largemouth, just the conditions didn’t suit :( the tarpon are proper crazy!! maps.app.goo.gl/aLvtaSjS6fmAKJHg6?g_st=ic I think this is the place!!
Nice video man , great to give people an insight of other countries. I'm going to Incheon myself next week. Unfortunately it will ice fishing all round I think 🥶🥶🥶
No requirement for a shop bro . Fully loaded with Shimano travel kit , although there must be some , I've seen thousands of them ice fishing on the lakes
That was skygazer! Normally people don't catch it with bare hand for it's bad smell. Han river has leopard mandarin and bass too. I hope you come back to Seoul, but honestly it's enviroment is almost same as Japan.
Convenient store lure for the win! Mate absolutely gassed for you to be fishing here 😊. So many river tarpons as well! Did not know how productive the river was and wished I put a lure out 😂 completely agree with the navigation app, such a pain to copy and paste the korean address into the search 😂 told you the soju was good with beer 😉 can’t wait what adventure awaits at your new job! Goodluck Harry stay safe mate 😊
Aye mate next time get something out there was so prolific as it goes and if the Weather wasn’t so hot and cold think it would have been even better!!! Thank you as always for watching mate and glad you enjoyed it 😄
Well done on getting a job in Japan! I do some area trout fishing in the Osaka area, but if you are in Tokyo, you'll have a lot more options for fishing fresh and saltwater.
Seoul! 😂 won’t lie I have no idea at this point! But walk the river you’ll find fish EVERYWHERE! The signs for no fishing are super obvious 😱 good luck mate
You clearly didn’t watch the video 🤣 i had no net I was dicking about on holiday with no idea what I was catching - Jesus mate relax fishing is about having fun!!
I love me some K drama, K babes and now some H drama lol. Absolutely awesome news H!!! But tbh I'm going to miss your pike and trout fishing in my local area for the next 12 months. But you gotta live life when it dishes out some diamonds... All the best H.. Oh and yes best off in Japan..as you have seen the Koreans don't really like mixing with Western people in their own cities..
Hahahaha we love a K drama! h drama did make me laugh!!! Thank you for your nice words mate and I’m sure one day I will be back trolling the canals and rivers!!🤪 tight lines my friend and thank you for watching!!
