Td passa minha cara, a vida passa!
George Leal Jamil, Nelson Freire and Martha Argerich (Argentinian/ Brazilian) and many other pianists, too many to mention, are all my Gods and I worship them. I missed his recital at the Wigmore Hall in the last three years or was that Louis Lortie? I love all of them; they bring such wonderous joy and emotion. Long, long may they live!
Meu Deus!
One of the best, i ever heard !! Mes felicitations ! Bernhard Hedenus
I like Freire's playing this piece. It seems more melancholy than sleepy and with a nice triumphal ending. Many other versions play this piece like a lullaby. This one seems awake and in the end, joyous.
This might be my all time favorite Chopin composition (I know, can anyone really HAVE too many favorites???). I have listened to this composition by a dozen different artists hundreds of times. I REALLY REALLY love this version!!
James Nitzberg, I think the whole world of music lovers will allow you to have as many favourites as you wish. I have many favourite composers and many favourite pianists and other instrumentalists. Compositions of all composers are so vast and diverse in so many ways, it's enough to satisfy the catholic tastes of all music lovers/ listeners. The two words many and favourite contradict each other and is called an oxymoron. You go ahead and have as many favourites as you want. I have no objections.
Beautiful piano sound, and commanding technique, but I prefer a more spacious, leisurely, meditative interpretation with greater dynamic gradation and variety of touch clearly defining the various sections. This seems just a wee bit hurried to me, and though he never loses control, it doesn't sound as though he is particularly fond of this piece. It's borderline perfunctory in fact, but you'd have to know the piece extremely well to be aware of that. He misses the dreamy, ruminative quality and the devastating heartbreak at the climax captured so exquisitely by both Horowitz and Pletnev, but no others I've ever heard. .
Dear F4sT, I agree with Jim Riley. There is no mistake on the double-third trill. I listened to it four times, I would have picked up the wrong note the first time, four times was superfluous. I didn't mean to sound arrogant there. I have picked up a wrong note from very renowned professional pianists (and instrumentalists in orchestras) in their recording that went to press, be it cassette tape, LP, CD or other media. Even current, prolific, amateur pianist made mistakes recording Bach's set of 6 preludes and Bach's set of 12 preludes (just to mention a few). I admire this pianist. I would only prove what an ASS I am to mention it. He himself curled up at the keyboard as soon as he played the mistake, on a separate occasion. But I am willing to counter someone if they are wrong. I am sorry F4sT, sadly, you are mistaken. Perry
Erik Vertriest !!!!!!!!! its impossibile to answer to you.........Freire is one of the best pianists over the world.......why don´'t you play like him...speak is esasy to play is not easy....caiu.
Merci Nelson, vous nous manquez tant !

Minha obra preferida de Chopin sob a leitura sofisticada do Nelson.
Sonoridade perfeita. Uma aula de como usar o pedal. Notas claras e perfeitas.

Oh... nothing to say more about this Brazilian genius! God is Great!!!

Obrigado, Nelson!
l’m still sad that you aren’t here. I love your music eternally.
Nelson Freire his intimacy conquers
listener and reveals the soul of any composer.

RIP grande mestre
This might be my all time favorite Chopin composition (I know, can anyone really HAVE too many favorites???). I have listened to this composition by a dozen different artists hundreds of times. I REALLY REALLY love this version!!
+James Nitzberg Mine is definitely the F minor Ballade but there is also the f minor fantasy....
What about Scherzo no.4 and 1 and 3 and 2. Basically everything Chopin composed is a master piece.
James Nitzberg, I think the whole world of music lovers will allow you to have as many favourites as you wish.

Ah! The Phantasy! My god! How beautiful! Norah de Almeida
Read Gide's essay..hear Kempff, Cortot, Gieseking.....
So grateful for those bringing so many of this great master's performance to us.
Obrigado pelo post! A Barcarolle do Nelson é fantástica!
I like to think that Nelson Freire is playing the piano and discussing music with Chopin in heaven now 😌
This is art... feeling and technics...
Awesome as always! 💯
👏👏👏👏
Vai tocar para
Os anjos nacorte celestial.
Que gran pianista !! Un artista enorme !!!
Simplesmente maravilhoso!!!
Sentiment et poésie, vitalité, my heart si ok ++
Wonderful and light!!Great!!
Rest in peace, Nelson.
Wow! As good as Zimerman's and Lipatti's renditions. Maestro Freire is an amazing Chopin interpreter.
Lindo! Nelson foi um mestre!
With love,
From Brasil. ❤️🌹

Excelente pianista!!!!
Bravíssimo! 👋👋👋👋👋💓
Grande artista!
Muito bom Nelson Freire
Masterpiece
Existem coisas divinas sim!!
my best pianist !!!
Most gracious !
Sublime
Maravilhoso!
Heaven itself... !
Grande pianista 👏👏👏
6:28 pqp que lindo
Ja caminhe com ele
Belleza

5:12 ❤
Perfeito. Porém sempre que vejo a imagem do Nelson me bate uma tristeza.

I agree.. but try listening to Rubinstein´s early recording (from the 1920s).. not good quality of course, but so full of life!
I go back and forth myself. Some days I love this interpretation, other days it seems too "loud". Still, I'll never be able to play it!
A chaste reading of this most sublime piece.
Infelizmente se foi essa semana.
E lá se vai...
Maravilhoso.
No understanding. Or a boat that starts with a cannon?

A bit too fast...
he sound so wrong at 1:55.. definitely there is a wrong note in that "double-trillo"

Buena interpretación, pero Zimerman sigue siendo mejor
Nooo,Zimmerman es frìo!
Nelson Freire is a very great musician, but here he's playing like a peasant most of the time, I'm sorry...
Erik Vertriest !!!!!!!!! its impossibile to answer to you.........Freire is one of the best pianists over the world.......why don´'t you play like him...speak is esasy to play is not easy....caiu.
I think you are quite correct. It does not seem here, although he is a wonderful musician, that he has been able to capture the essence of the piece.
What??
Well, at least you apologized for your ridiculous comment, that would otherwise qualify as the toxic, incoherent ramblings of an internet troll.
Talvez nem Chopin tocasse assim.
