yep.. and with the tiny blurb I wont be buying any more ships until they give us a full brief on what we can expect from AI and NPC's in the verse by 1.0.
@@callsigngrimdoll Aw man that'd be cool :-) Especially since there is no way they'd not answer before IAE. Seriously though, with that single little blurb it created so many questions about what the condition of AI in general will be for 1.0 that we should get something discussing it in more detail.
@@gearsamp92 They don't know yet because of SM still in R&D. They will tell you what they want to do. In reality, they don't know until they see the limitations of Dynamic Server Meshing...
The Changing Face Bug was really interesting imo. Shows how dynamic this in game cut scene is. Btw. regarding day one, I don't need hype. Steady development with occasional setbacks are totally okay. Insofar I really liked Genesis.
Last years citizen con they told us what they were going to deliver and when they thought could deliver it to the existing tech demo. This year's citcon was them telling us this is what kind of game star citizen is going to be and how you are going to play it. I still feel like they would be foolish not to release arena commander as a free to play title.
On the one hand, we could eventually get 100 systems. It may take 20 years, but it could happen. On the other hand, it probably won't happen and it isn't really even needed. If Dynamic Sever Meshing magically appeared, and the planets were refactored with the new Genesis POI distribution, you could fit the entire player base in Stanton. The planets are millions of square kilometers. The Aaron Halo is a mind numbing amount of real estate. 5 systems is plenty for 1.0. Once we get to 10, 15 20+ systems there will come a point where large numbers of people will straight up NEVER see some of them. There is such a thing as TOO big.
I think 1.0 was setting the finish line since it was getting amorphous. There is still a lot of gameplay needed like ship modularity, engineering, crafting, economy, not even including blades and hirable NPC. I would say 10 years. But hope to see a lot of development and much deeper gameplay during that time.
Regarding the question when 1.0 will release, me and all my friends were looking at a 2030-2036 release window. There will be very interesting patches until then but 1.0 is still a while away.
The thing that Astrohistorian said about saying a date and having to push it back.... my first thought is yeah that might still happen. it could come out in 2027. CIG is not known for being prompt so completely agree with him. but if they keep showing progress or have a demo of the prolog that people can play I think it will be fine
It would be nice is if they make it like the military Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP). Which would make the flow from squadron 42 to PU consistent.
Lets be real, sq42 wont be released on 2026, at tge end of that year they will tell it needs more polishing etc and they move it for end of 2027, then they will say its moved to 2028
0:37:00 they can absolutely sell Star Engine for other studios to use, i agree thats most likely not what theyre trying to do right now though. Star Engine started as a fork of CryEngine. it has since been so heavily modified that a do believe it qualifies as an entirely new thing. plus im pretty positive thats part of the deal. just like when Amazon paid for a version of CryEngine to make LumberYard 3D, which is now 100% open source and free for anyone to use (now called OS3DE) if LumberYard 3D (which is far less developed than Star Engine appears to be) didnt qualify as its own thing, CryTech would have sued the pants off of Amazon for releasing the source code, as they would essentially be releasing the source code for CryEngine as a game dev i really hope that CiG goes the UE5 route and releases Star Engine to the public for hobbyists (when its ready) and then of course sell it to studios that plan on using it commercially
I get the impression that CIG intend to encourage orgs to have public and private sections of their stations, and to encourage trade (and maybe use of some facilities) with 3rd party players and perhaps NPCs.
it was pretty obvious since 2023 that it was a 2026 release, people are so dumb that shocks me sometimes, if you follow the emails you got to know there is no excuse.
I believe theres NO WAY they leave out AI blades/npc crew etc. This is such a niche genre and on release they are gonna need to be amenable to every player they can in the space. They talk a whole lot about being aware of the limits of lone players and know a lot of ppl roll like that. I think they know it would be suicide to release like that and alienate a large segment of the player base.
1:50:30 there's no way 1.0 is out before winter holiday 2029. Their SINGLE PLAYER game, not online, isn't even out for another 2 years for 2026, you think a year or 2 after finishing the single player game they will have the MMO ready for 1.0? I think there's no way. BUT God I hope I'm wrong bc I'd love to see it sooner

No, I think it is still in the background. Was just not the focus this time. I guess when there are more players in a location doing economic stuff there is less need for quantas there.
41:57 Astropubs concern about the game story being some super Linear rinse and repat kill the Lich kind we save the world every week thing is a valid concern BUT I feel is not the direction CIG is going. Its a Tutorial mission basically, its designed Not for you to Save the galaxy! but for you to Save Maybe your small part of Galaxy and do enough of a service for the empire to Win your Citizenship but they will then leave it open for the Players to the help "lean the story that the writers will then continue on from there". That Hasn't Changed with the addition of the Onboarding Mission otherwise you couldn't as Dave Haddock said "Jump on and Jump" off that mission and go off and of other things or even Ignore it. It literally could be you stop a Band of Pirates from taking over a sector of the galaxy it doesn't need ot be some WORLD shaking Mage event as narratively it would make no sense for thousands of players to be "THE ONE"
lol it seems like all people care about with deadlines is to be validated of your predictions and have a "i told you so" moment rather than care about the actual polish of the experience. You'd rather they release 100 systems and say "see, CIG did it" than care about the quality of those systems and what you actually do there. You'd rather they not extend the deadline for SQ42 and say "omg CIG kept their word" and then think about the consequence of drawing that line later. go work in a 9-5 job where you have to meet deadlines and see what happens when workers get rushed to complete something. See the corners that need to be cut. You want those corners cut don't you? just so they can keep that deadline. this is instant gratification. If those 100 systems came to be, guess what people will complain about later down the line. Imagine that.
I think some streamers are re a bit to harsh & in all honestly the game has officially hit the track last year & this citizen con is showing that the train is not stopping. To me it was the best citizcon casue it showed us what we are getting the mechanics we are dealing with and what to expect. Everything they explained seems reasonable and amazing. I think us as consumers have to understand that they are doing there best and they are making a great effort. It has been a long journey but if we look into why there is a reason for all. I’m happy to be a backer and can see 42 coming out no later then summer 2026 with 1.0 coming out 6 months to 1 year after with the release of the system in 42. The delay would allow others to complete the game to get that little edge on 1.0 release. As well to not spoil the extra planets and story that might leak in to SC. Ether way great show today & looking forward to more content, would love to chat about the game at any point if your ever open to it
I don't like the way the crafting system is going to work. Crafting manufacturer-owned ships makes no sense lorewise and generally in terms of immersion. That aside it seems everything can only get better, which is a terrible and boring way of doing crafting. There should be upgrading of one stat at the cost of another degrading, not straight up everything getting better. It's just the most low effort, braindead version of a crafting system.
