    For me one of the biggest issues is the stubborn refusal to bring back a walkabout ticket for £10 or so. My mum used to like coming to BPB with me but she never went on the rides, but was happy to watch me and have some coffee and food as I queued. But we’re not paying £50 for her to walk round so what happens? Neither of us goes now. I’m sure that happens with families walking along the prom. None of them will go in when they see the full price. But all of them MIGHT go in if the non-riders could pay less.
    I simply don’t understand how BPB don’t get this.

      None riders should have the option to enter at a reduced cost we agree 😞👍🏻 especially since you have to scan at EVERY ride anyway! 😂

      The only reason they wouldn't bring in walk around prices is they feel they have enough walk around customers paying full price. Your argument makes sense to me though

    I went to the Pleasure Beach this year for the first time in a few years, taking my son for the first time. We went in late spring and had a great day. When I was first visiting in the late 70s/early 80s it was rough. Gangs of marauding lads causing mayhem and the park was pretty rough and ready. I really like what they've done with the actual park "common areas" which was really nice plus the food and drink offering is good and at an acceptable price point.

    I have fond memories when the Pleasure Beach was old school in the 1970s when anyone could just enter the park and remember long gone rides such as Virginia Reel, Cable Cars, Monorail, Wild Mouse and many others and used to love driving from nearby Preston on a rainy day to enjoy all afternoon in my grey stockingfeet at the Fun House. I haven't been back for nearly 20 years.

    I love the pleasure beach and want it to succeed. I honestly think when they redid valhalla, they overspent getting it back open which has kinda screwed them over, that and the fact that hyperia has taken Blackpool's record away. Really hope they can turn things around.
    The bowler building is empty now, so that could a new area for something big too. Hoping river caves is back for next season too.

      It looks like that building is definitely going. Wiring removed, gutted out and surveying in progress. Perhaps the location for the gyro...
      There's been pics of very new looking/ fully refurbished River Caves boats in the car park behind several weeks ago. So I'm sure it will be back next season.

    Nick Thompson went out of his way to help S&S develop the modern version of steeplechase, or at the very least strongly advise them to produce a modern version.
    In my opinion that suggests to me that they don’t want to lose that attraction and let me get Either major upgrades or replaced by the modern version in the future.
    I can’t see any other reason why he would encourage them to do that, if there wasn’t something that Pleasure Beach would directly benefit from it.
    I know they apparently did have plans for a replacement coaster steeplechase at one point, but I think that was almost certainly before they convinced S&S to build a modern version.

      I for one really would hate to see the loss of another rarity in the park, like the former Virginia Reel (last season in 1982 after 60 years of operation) and more recently the wooden Wild Mouse. I personally do not think that any modern coaster offering could replicate Steeplechase’s,now unique ride offer, globally at that too.

      Agreed, communication is really poor

  • @CoastersandPop
    @CoastersandPop 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The branding / communication with their customers is a big let down. Mystery around what’s coming is one thing, but an absolute zero communication is not good at all for branding and position in the market. It’s starting to eat into loyal repeat customers and the lack of customers this year really shows this.
    There’s no reason they can’t tease and give clues as to their future without revealing too much and keep their brand engaging.
    You can’t bank that your history will keep you afloat. That no longer works when people have the means, money and ability to go to other parks across the world.

    Your right the people in charge are not the right people , if the Pleasure Beach doesn't annonce changes , new rides etc and the park in 2025 doesnt change and stays the same as 2024 then the park will fail and thats sad it could it up closing , the park is a shadow of what it used to be , who wants to pay £50 when rides are closed and it closes early 5 pm 😮
    Just look at the state of the River Caves and why wont they let people know what the hell is happening? 🙄
    They also need to bring back non rider pass to generate more income, but i cant see that happening 😕
    I get the feeling that AT doesn't care about the park , maybe it would be better if it was sold .
    Whatever happens BPB need to get their act together or its not looking good for them😢

    I’d like to see one of the more uncomfortable coasters replaced with a modern one e.g. Steeplechase replaced with a Mahuka type coaster. There are too many people who are in the “Icon and Valhalla are great, the rest of the park can burn” brigade. I don’t agree with that, but at the same time I guess they could have a better balance between retro and new. I agree that customer service is poor. E.g. Someone kicked a ball onto the Grand National a few weeks ago and it was absolutely ages before the ride got going again. No explanation, no apology or anything. We only knew because of Chinese whispers in the queue.

    • @TPIOfficial
      @TPIOfficial  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @martinporter4980

      No, I really disagree with any potential loss of such a, now entirely unique ride as the Steeplechase. I made a comment elsewhere here so won’t repeat again, just my opinion.

    • @MatthewRambles
      @MatthewRambles 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @martinporter4980 I get you. I think Steeplechase really suits a traditional seaside park like BPB and it really adds to the character of the park. But part of me thinks that something could do to give somewhere, to draw more people into the park whilst keeping the traditionalists happy. Maybe Infusion would be a better example. Or possibly keeping existing rides but adding a new one in north park, something like what Grona Lund did with Monster.

    BPB need 3 Major Coasters to turn things around and bring the crowds back. Nothing more, nothing less. Flat rides or dark rides no matter how good they are just won't cut it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The lack of investment over the years has left the park in an extremely difficult situation. Unfortunately with Amanda in charge, there is more chance of finding the Loch Ness monster......in the Irish Sea than getting the investment required lol. Amanda's marketing plans remind me of person trying to sell holidays to Haiti😂😂

      @chrismasterson3968 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@70AD-user45 That's why I said there is no chance of it happening. Amanda is incapable of making the correct major decisions to turn the park round. Of course some rides need replacing but she's been in charge 20 years now, there's 20 years of evidence to prove that she won't do that. 20 years of fans of the park literally telling her what to do and her doing the complete opposite. Amanda should have stuck to running her pointless Ice Show, and not interfered with the park.

    Only went once, in about 1990. Wasn't that impressed then, only the Wild Mouse and the Ghost Train stood out.
    Problem really is Blackpool is a depressed area that doesn't really attract people the way it used to. So there's no way i would consider going to the area for a holiday anyway.
    If it was down south it would be bulldozed for housing, but it can only really be saved with a massive load of cash. Maybe they could do an Energylandia and get EU funding...oh...yeah...Brexit.
