Honestly I think The Big One should just live out its life for a few years and then get some sort of conversion, like a Phantom’s Revenge-style retrack but with more modern coaster elements!
2:07 triple towers at Hersheypark when it first opened, had ratcheting restraints and extreme pops of airtime at the top… then around 2021 some kind of modification was done and now you get nothing. It seems like a lot of towers got that modification that damped the airtime.
2025 is just a transition year for the park as they get things prepared for future rides and developments. Good to see Grand Prix pulled down but the space it leaves is only good for outdoor mud wrestling until they reveal what's going there. I think Launch Pad will open for Easter holidays.
Not really related to the video but, now Stephen's done that tallest sky coaster, I reckon he's got big enough balls to do anything in life now! I see in this video he looks recovered!
Hi there guys, wishing you a very Happy New Year. I hope to visit Pleasure Beach this year, haven't done it in years so will definitely give the new ride a go.
As long as they were able to retrofit the existing trains on the dipper I wouldn’t mind too much, as the current trains in the National are a big part of why it’s become so rough over the last 19 years. Before the trains changed, it ran like a dream.
I don't think the trains are the full problem. Remember the track and structure would deteriorate over time leading to an increasingly rough ride. The main problem is the new ride computer which takes such a long time to park the trains at the load platform, which has dramatically reduced throughput
It’s true that the Grand National was incredible before 2006, but it can occasionally still be good now. The heavy train theory came from a forum user on the old PBE forum, but that person has literally no engineering knowledge or background. If the heavy train theory is correct, why haven’t they added to the wooden structure to prevent it being an issue? It’s already been discussed by actual engineers and people who knew both BPB and PTC engineers that the trains were custom designed to be light enough for the Nash. If the trains were too heavy after 19 years, BPB would have dealt with that.
You say that, but I noticed the difference as soon as they were installed, that can’t be a coincidence. The reason pleasure beats hasn’t done anything about it is because it’s the AJT era of pleasure beach, and stuff like that doesn’t tend to get sorted during this era. If I had been a gradual problem overtime, I might have had a better time believing that, but the fact that they made a difference for me as soon as they were installed. Suggest that they are at least half of the problem. I’m sure they tried to make them as light as they could, but the modern design was just too much for that to happen, they probably would’ve been better off just rebuilding the two previous trains that were destroyed from scratch but slight modifications so they could still work on an automated braking system, similar to what they did with the wild mouse for its final season. At the very least, if the health and safety executive/ ADIPS would allow it the same black bars that are on the dipper being installed on the current trains would make a huge difference and not the very least alone for a lot more airtime which from what I understand is partly what the National was designed to do in the first place apart from racing.
@@dougbriglmen716 it was noticeably different when it reopened in 2006, seating is different and therefore it felt/feels different to ride. Your second paragraph is factually incorrect. RollerCoaster had new wooden supports with proper footings put in place when they realised the train change was causing strain on the structure. Secondly, Big Dipper’s aeroplane bend by the Big Blue was completely rebuilt in the 2010s to help it cope with the strain on the structure because of how the trains traverse it. The Nash is inspected and worked on regularly by an experienced crew, if it was knackered because of the trains they’d do something about it. The current trains are a similar design to what PTC still offer to parks, so replacing them changes nothing.
Had this idea for a little while if you replace Grand Prix with a powered coaster imagine a Wallace and Gromit themed coaster combined with the thrill o matic make it into a mini land a bit like Nickelodeon Land
I was really hoping for a Gyro Swing this year but it looks like it will have to wait. Such great rides, great through put and a real crowd pleaser. I hope it is still planned for the future.
They don’t do themselves any favours with all the secrecy . Not sure we will be bothering this year , depends if the Launch pad looks any good . That bloody road was busy Scott . Should have packed the Rodes 🎙️🧱👍🏽
@yourexperienceguide agree mate got some footage of the new alton towers ride Sunday I didn't realise it's facing the side of the new nemesis shop which is a bit strange
@@yourexperienceguide And to be fair, it doesn’t really need major modernising, some modern effects here and there, but it doesn’t have to be the whole thing. IF the River Caves saved from being permanently SBNO, then projection mapping in some of the scenes along with some of the scenes in Alice and Valhalla wouldn’t go a mess.
As long as an automated control system didn’t ruin the capacity and through like it did on the National and was still reliable and most importantly the trains didn’t change then it should be okay.
@yourexperienceguide they did close it early though (several weeks before end if season) We'll have to keep an eye on car park. Just because we've not seen any new trains doesn't mean they haven't ordered any. Intamin maybe
@@yourexperienceguide let’s pray that they do get it open again even if it’s another year down the line, I did hear that Adam who worked on Valhalla wants to/has plans to reimagined it.

Sounds about right unfortunately. We did do the drop tower of the three in June, was alright.
Brilliant as always. Very interesting to see what happens at the park in the next few years.

Think people got too excited about the gyro swing docs and Grand Prix removal. BPB never move quickly with new projects.
Thanks for the update, roll on opening day.
Thanks Mark

Walked past the pleasure beach this morning. Good shout praising the engineers & maintenance teams. As it was bitterly cold.
Unpleasant working conditions
Good to see you & Stephen with this update always interesting to see whats going BPB Scott 👍
Thanks Chris, there’ll be a few more of these before they’re back open

@ true but I still think the trains are far too heavy and that’s at least half of the problem, not helped by those god-awful lap bars as well.

It does feel like an unloved area
