    I am certain most of these "keeps ice" claims are performed with pre-chilled coolers. That means you'd need to fill with ice, get the cooler nice and cold, dump the first set of ice, re-fill with new ice and do not open the lid. That is how they get the number of hours/days

    • @JobeLeonard
      @JobeLeonard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, such a reasonable real life test. Why didn't I think of that.

    • @mrq1701
      @mrq1701 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JobeLeonard Your test is much more "real world", the way people will actually use it. No one pre-chills their cooler. No one really cares if it can keep ice for 10 days if you can't open the lid for those 10 days. Most thermos type bottles do the same for their ratings, both hot and cold. I will admit I pre-heat my thermos before filling it with coffee. I'd boil water in the microwave, put it in the thermos for a long while (10-15 minutes), then brew my coffee, dump ou the water and pour in the fresh brewed coffee. I'd have steaming hot coffee 8-10 hours later when I was working graveyard.

      @@mrq1701 that's a good idea for the coffee thermos. I will have to give it a try. Thank you.

      Nope. All he had to do was actually FILL THEM UP with ice as opposed to three or four cubes.😊

    Thanks for the in depth review. Man some of these comments are unhinged. I've never seen people get so angry about coolers before. lmao

      There is a good chance they are paid corporate reviewers from the cooler company.

    That's a super save. The RTIC is much more expensive. Much appreciated.

      You are welcome. They are both good in their own respects. The Artic Zone opens easily so great to set in a passenger seat on a road trip. The same easy open makes it bad around kids because they will constantly open your cooler. The RTIC is hard to open and takes 2 hands which has made it a better option on the boat to keep the kids out of the cooler.

    Ordered the AZ Titan 48 can from Walmart for $84 w/tax. Amazon had it for with shipping for $107. Should be here in a few days. Can't wait!

      I used ours this weekend on the lake. Still a good cooler after a few years. Amazon sometimes has the ones that people returned in "like new" condition for decent prices too.

    If you read the complete description on the website it will tell you that it keeps ice for 3 days only with the cooler filled 100% with ice. It does not reference keeping an ice pack frozen for 3 days

    • @JobeLeonard
      @JobeLeonard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Go ahead and try that and let me know it goes. I tried it another video. Similar results.

      @casey2409 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JobeLeonard I gather that with it full at 100% it will all be gone by the end of the third day and just be water. Thats also not in extreme temperatures either. Granted their are a lot of variables in the ice retention test, but for a day or even a lunch box I think 🤔 it will be fine.

    • @JobeLeonard
      @JobeLeonard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@casey2409 I use the cooler all the time, and it is a good one. I like it in the passenger seat on road trips because I can open it one handed. However, it will not hold ice for 72 hours when packed 100% full of ice. Everytime I have tried in varying conditions 95% of the ice is melted after 24 hours.

    So much for following LABEL DIRECTIONS. Titan specifically claims 3 full days, 72 hours, when COMPLETELY FULL of "CUBED ICE". These directions were included when you bought it.

    • @JobeLeonard

      I have the owners manual right in front of me and I read through it at 29 seconds in my video. No where on the LABEL DIRECTIONS does it mention COMPLETELY FULL of CUBED ICE. It only says "KEEPS ICE UP TO 3 DAYS". These Ice Packs that I use in the test last longer than water based ice so if anything was going to last 72 hours these ice packs would.

    • @joshuanicholson4812

      most coolers tests are done with a pre-chilled cooler. It takes a lot of thermal energy to initially cool the insulation. Rinse and repeat test with pre-chilled cooler.

  • @WIDE-WOKE

    They will both jeep ice for three days IF you FILL THEM UP!
    Very few coolers ever made will keep one single cube of ice for three days straight.

      Totally agree. The best ones I have found are the full white foam ones that companies use to ship meat in commercially. They have to be able to travel across the country 48-72 hours without the product spoiling or the company loses all their profit. You can bet that they will hold ice, just do not try to sit on them.

    You made a mistake son. First you are using a chemical based ice vs actual regular water base. And you had it inside a confined area. When Ice melts it creates water where the top layer remains cold and the lower gets warmer. And with the constant pulling and pushing of cans the water circulates thus making the ice last a little longer. Next time try using real ice in a bag instead of _Factor's ice packing.

      I made a video just like that on my channel and the cooler performed worse. You can look it up. You could also make the video yourself since you know so much about it. I would love to see it.
