@@salmaya9274Most failures occur after the warranty period has expired. The company won’t stand behind them at that point. The zippers are a major and very common failure point it’s the RTIC and other brands that use the same style leakproof zipper. You must lubricate the zipper frequently with the silicone zipper lube.
the ice remaining test is slightly flawed, but otherwise a pheromonal comparison. since there is more space inside the RTIC vs Yeti, there is more air to cool down in it as well, so right away we knew the RTIC would have less ice at the end of the test. since the numbers are so similar, we can safely say that they both retain ice at equal levels. the difference of 44 grams of ice is the result of the RTIC having to cool are larger volume.
Great observation! I guess next time, we should add amounts of ice proportional to the size of the container, not necessarily equal amounts if ice. Great catch, thanks for the comment!
I’ve owned both and Rtic is basically just as good. The ONLY difference is the warranty. Rtic is 1 year and Yeti is 3 for soft coolers and 5 for hard coolers. I had an Rtic 45 in my truck bed and the lid warped like most coolers in that much direct sun will do and Yeti will still replace it up to 4 years 364 days while my Rtic only had 1 year. Still works fine just not as well. But as far as ice retention and price Rtic is great but they have started to close the gap in price point to Yeti’s coolers. They used to be about half the price of a Yeti
The ice test was what sold me. If yeti wants double the price, then their coolers should have double the ice retention. Besides, aren’t they made in china as wel?
had an artic like the one in the video and it was good, until the rubber around the zipper started to go and jammed up the zipper due to rips and breaks. Then after a month or so of fiddling with it due to those issues the zipper handle broke off and made it basically useless. Lasted about a year and change, so kinda bummed i went with another brand.
RTIC did well. Would do better if you filled up the space. I know you were just keeping the testing equal. The space actually uses ice to keep it cool as well. So just filling it up with ice would take more ice but will improve the test results for RTIC.
Yeah, we realized afterwards that we actually put the RTIC in a slight disadvantage by leaving all that empty space in there. We'll definitely remember that for the next test we do in the future!
I had an rtic cause I thought was more bang for the buck. Til a year into it zipper went to crap even after using the lubricant it came with. Went to Yeti a couple years ago and it hasn’t showed much wear if any at all.
We’re reviewing the Yeti Hopper 8. It fits 11 cans without ice. I think you’re thinking about the Yeti Hopper 12 which fits 24 cans with no ice and costs $250. Yeti’s naming scheme is confusing 😰🤦🏽♂️

what a dumb comment. Every single person says after a year their RTIC zipper fails making it unusable. No one can fix it. So to pay more for a product that will last years longer than its counterpart is a NO BRAINER
Tried several rtic soft coolers total let down. Literally shit bed after 3 hours w cooler shocks and in air conditioned house for work. Hard pass. Also yeti zippers are nightmare # 1 cause of their bad reviews. Gave up went to 20q kong hard cooler. No comparison
Nothing wrong with Kong, but comparing their hard cooler to a soft cooler from Yeti or Rtic is unfair. Of course, it will be better. A more fair comparison would be Kong vs their hard coolers. Price wise they are priced very similar to Yeti.
I've had both for the past 2 years. RTIC zipper has broken. Yeti still going strong. I'll buy RTIC again, but I won't expect it to last as long.
So you are essentially paying yetis price and the zipper will fail again...
I had thr same issue with rtic. Got rid of it
Smart people send it back and get a new one.

Well put video, guys 👌🏼 Very thorough and helpful
The rtic zipper will fail in 2 years and they will tell you tough luck. Search on the Internet and you will see tons of complaints.
Lots of complaints too on the Yeti zippers. The Yeti soft cooler warranty is 3 years shorter than their hard cooler warranty of 5.

Excellent test, one of the better experiments with well thought out procedures and controls
I have a Rtic soft cooler and a Yeti. The Rtic leaks… I have a Rtic hard-shell cooler. It’s legit. I just bought a Yeti Roadie cooler.

I think these tests need to be done out side in the heat that way you can see where it counts and what does a better job stopping the heat
I think the yeti cooler is $250 if the one you’re reviewing is the 12 can.

Well Rtic is bigger cooler and you put same amount of ice in bouth, ofc that Yeti will hold more ice becouse its smaller space inside cooler
Maybe i missed it but what size yeti is that?
I have both and they keep the ice the same amount of time for me.

the RTIC zipper will fell if you don't keep the silicon on the zipper and you can't repair or replace it.

When Trump returns people will splurge again
