Hi All! So Pirateship just sent us a new notification going over some IMPORTANT changes in details when it comes to shipping to the European Union! "Starting July 1st the European Union is requiring Harmonization Codes for each product in your customs form, to specify the exact goods you're shipping. Learn how to find the right HS Code. support.pirateship.com/en/articles/5255164-what-is-a-harmonization-number The European Union also has a new process for what to do when their sales taxes (Value-Added Taxes or "VAT" taxes) are prepaid. If you're selling through your own website then nothing is changing-your EU customers will still just pay any taxes their country requires when they receive the package. But if you sell through marketplaces like eBay, Etsy, or Amazon, they will be prepaying EU VAT taxes for all orders under €150 Euro (~$180 bucks). Those marketplaces will provide you with an IOSS Number that you'll need to enter into the Exporter International Tax ID field at the bottom of the customs form when creating your label in Pirate Ship. This will prove that VAT was paid, so your customer doesn't accidentally pay VAT tax twice 😉"
this is THEEE #1 most helpful video for shipping internationally on pirateship (especially with the new change to ascendia) so so helpful ! thank you :)
WOW This is the simplest most clean cut explanation for shipping international for Depop I have heard!!! Bravo! I LOVE your WBS that you wrote up for step by step tracking logistics !! (WBS) work breakdown structure.. love it!thank you! Lou
Thank you so much Brenda! I have my first Depop international shipping today bound to Australia! Your video is my reference! Thanks! You earned a new subscriber here! Have a great day!
This video was so helpful thanks for breaking everything down! It's my first time doing international shipping and now I feel way more confident about what to do! ❤
@marylee vega the package did make it overseas to the buyer, no issues thankfully. If your going to ship to europe just make sure you fill out the customs form through pirate ship, and also make sure your seller is aware that they will likely have to pay a customs fee/tax to receive their package. The tax is connected to however much the item they're receiving is worth. It sucks but thats how it is
The buyer paid 20 for shipping and 20 for shipping fees and I only got 8$ of it and I still have to pay for shipping so what was the point of setting an international shipping fee?
So the weight of the "package" is the actual weight of the item in the box or envelope or whatever you're shipping the item in. Then the weight of the item is obviously just the weight of the item. Is that about right? 'Cause I had someone ask me if I can ship a heavy wool coat to Ireland. I created a Pirate Ship account and was doing everything like you said then when you said the item isn't heavier than the packaging I was like ??? Isn't a heavy wool coat heavier than a cardboard box though? Haha so do you mean the total weight of package vs. just the item itself?
Do you toggle on the international shipping for each listing and set a high price so they'll message you for a quote? Or do you keep it turned off and just have them message you? If I don't have worldwide shipping turned on, I feel like anyone outside of my country won't find my listings.
@libbyyyyyyy yes apparently if you want to offer worldwide shipping you have to use your own shipping like pirate ship and I don't want to go through all that. eBay is much better with their international shipping program I don't have to worry about anything I just send it to their warehouse and then they take care of it from there 100%.
quick question - for domestic shipping i drop things off at the blue usps collection things. can i do the same with international, or do i definitely need to go to the post office instead?
HELPPPPPP!! Is this same process to sent to Puerto Rico ? Please help the person said she could not see the shipping rate that i needed to change to international
i just shipped my first international package and the woman said that it delivered and pirate shit says it delivered too but my depop doesnt say it… what do i do?
I am trying to ship two beanies that are very light weight and the person who wants to buy from me lives in Ireland. Im selling the two beanies for 5 dollars and its telling me shipping is 15 dollars? That seems like a lot for two beanies I got off wish haha. Do u think that is accurate?
Yes that’s accurate. Unfortunately shipping internationally is pretty expensive. I did ship an 8 oz item to Finland once for around $10 when I put it in a smaller package. Perhaps play with the package sizing for different prices? And sometimes get the buyer’s postal zip code of their country. The more exact it is, the more accurate estimated rate you’d get.
For USPS first-class mail, there is no mail insurance if things are lost. For seller protection, you should not be blamed for anything that occured during transit. Your only responsibility as a seller is to have it scanned in to the shipping office and have the package marked "shipped" with the correct item as described. After that, if anything happens to it, it's the fault of the shipping service.
I don't accept returns for international packages. It'd also be hard for the buyer to do that. Other marketplaces like eBay have better global shipping protection. Depop is kind of a free-for-all, wild wild west with clunky functionality
Hi Brenda, This is directly from depop support pages - Seller Pays for Shipping - When you make a sale, the item price will be deposited on your PayPal account. The shipping cost and Depop fee will be deducted in one transaction. So if I read this correctly item price $80, Shipping $30 I end up with around $40 because of the depop fees and shipping fee. The item price actually has to be changed even though the shipping fee was entered. True or am I reading this incorrectly?
I sold my items accidentally by canadian dollars and I don’t know if that’s why the money it’s not transferring to my chase account, I prefer US dollar
This helped a lot thank you so much! Also am I able to schedule a USPS pickup or do I have to go in person to the Postal office to drop it off and get a receipt?
Well, I work at UPS, and usually when people bring in their USPS packages they just drop them off. We can’t scan them in (because we aren’t them) but I assume if you go to the post office they’d give you a receipt the way we do it
hey I have a question since I have started depop most of my payments have been on hold in pay pal and I only receive them when it's been delivered/ confirmed by the buyer. I was wondering if there was a way to get my money faster?
unfortunately you have to hit about 25 sales (with zero paypal / depop disputes) before paypal and depop “trust” you enough to release your money right away ! once i hit 25 sales, i received my money immediately, hope this helps :)
@@kailysiiofficinalis unfortunately you have to hit about 25 sales (with zero paypal / depop disputes) before paypal and depop “trust” you enough to release your money right away ! once i hit 25 sales, i received my money immediately, hope this helps :)
Thank you for this! I was wondering about extra fees? I believe ebay charges you an extra international fee once sold and another fee to convert currency. Do you know if this is the same for depop? Thank you so much! (:
I’m not sure for Depop Payments. However if the customer chooses to pay via PayPal, then PayPal does charge a small percentage fee for international transactions
Hey! I can't find the video rn but you said that i have to make sure my paypal and depop are using the same email. I'm struggling with verifying the email on paypal because the link to verify it keeps bugging out on me and i still have a different email set as the "standard/main" one (My PayPal is in german so idk how it's called in english). Is it ok that there's two different emails on my PayPal or do i HAVE to set the email, that i also use for depop, as the "standard/main" in order for the money to go on there smoothly?
hey on my depop when i type in the price for worldwide shipping the price for domestic is still on how do i fix that ?? i dont want to charge for both plss helpp also the item is on hold the buyer hasnt bought yet im hesitant for her to because i dont want it to charge her for domestic as well. (shipping to australia)
Just got my first international order. Sending the package to the UK. Buyer used PayPal to purchase on Depop. Should I put the Ahoy tracking number on PayPal under Asendia? Or Asendia USA? Seems like Asendia does not recognize the tracking number, but Asendia USA does. Asendia USA is not listed on PayPal.
The customer service representative should confirm with you that it's been activated after you contact them about the request. Then when you look up Rates or do shipping, you'll see a drop-down menu of all the other countries you could ship to when inputting the address.
Hello, I hope you will noticed my question. Its my first time to try selling internationally with depop and I want to know what if my customer buys more than 1 item and I update the worldwide shipping of each listings based on the rate I calculate. Will be my buyer charged only with one shipping cost? (Ex. She bought 2 tops and I updated shipping fee to USD10 on each listing. Will she be charged USD10 or USD20?) Hope you can help me ... 🙏
It depends on your Depop shop shipping settings are. If you go to Selling tab > Bundle Shipping > the buyer will be charged "free shipping" or "highest shipping price" or "no shipping discount" for bundles
Depending on the company I choose to go with, I drop it off at their nearby shipping office. ie the local post office for USPS, the local UPS store, or FEDEX store, etc.
Yes I did! You can leave it on both depop shipping, you’re just gonna make the worldwide option available and put your shipping price but you will have to ship the international package with your own shipping

Wow thank you! That's great news, I'm so excited for you!
Thank you for making this video!!! I think Depop should take less from sellers if the seller is selling internationally cuz it's a lot of work
Yeah. For example I don't mind if eBay takes some fees because they do most of the international work for you, while Depop doesn't do it as much.
@@thebookofbrenda so true ebay makes it easy to sell your stuff although they're strict but its worth it

there are four pages for the shipping labels. do i need to put all four pages on the package?

Choose ‘Ascendia’ when you’re doing worldwide shipping on Pirateship. For domestic shipping via Pirateship, choose USPS.
i just shipped my first international package and the woman said that it delivered and pirate shit says it delivered too but my depop doesnt say it… what do i do?

depop is not saying delivered which is not letting me get my funds
when u put down the total price do you include shipping???
in the customs form total value, do we input the price of the item itself or the actual total including shipping?
the price of the item itself

At the United States Postal Office as usual, no changes on that end! :)
