This is what I needed. I ride a T8 Polygon and a souped-up Scwinn Axum hard tail. I’ll be honest, I love the T8 but my sentimental favorite is the Axum just from all the hours (and dollars) I’ve invested into making it rideable on the trails. I also have a mostly forgotten D5 which no one likes to ride. It s a 27.5 like your’s and its all stock. I’ll take some notes on your upgrades because it has the potential of being a super fun little trail bike if I do what you did to your’s.
At 5’5 I would probably recommend going with a size medium. I feel like this bike runs a little small, so even though you could categorize with S, you may be better off with M. Best way to check would be getting down to your local bike shop and test fitting a few bikes (this one if they have it) otherwise I’d say maybe medium would be best fit
@@GregsGarage21 Oh heck ya!!! I'm about to buy one and I have a new fox 34 that's a 15x110. That be great to use it on that bike. Thank you bud, keep up the great videos!
Thanks for the support! The fork swap is super easy! If the new fork is a tapered fork then you’ll just need to change out the bearing races on the fork. Super easy, a rubber mallet and a 2x4 piece of wood will help get the job done no problem!
Nice! I just got mine today and it came with maxxas ardent tires I was shocked! I was looking at those same bars as a future upgrade, I have a xfusion enix 140mm fork I am going to put up front also in the future most likely as for the rear I never has a bike with a air shock in the rear i have to test it first , I have exaform 291 R oil coil shocks on my other bikes and they seen very active all the time and move from any little bump I don't think the air shocks keep the rear planted as well as a coil shock.. how much better was the new rear air shock you got over the stock on on the bike besides having adjustable rebound was it more active over the little stuff? Thanks.
Wow that’s pretty cool! I’ve head of polygon putting different tires on randomly, I got stuck with some pretty bad tires 🤣 The stock shock at first was nice, but noticed it didn’t hold the pressure I would set it to. Also noticed that on any fast choppy bumps, it would almost feel uncomfortable / skip out when hitting those sections. After going with the rockshox it definitely feels better, but I was reading that a coil shock probably will give the rear end feeling I’m looking for. When I had only upgraded the fork, the rear of the bike felt really off with the stock shock, and once I put the rockshox in the rear, the bike felt more balanced and capable while riding! Going to spend some more time riding and dialing it in and we’ll see how I feel about it at the end of the year LOL
@@GregsGarage21 That's cool, I just got back from my first test run and will do a video, I found the rear felt pretty good but the front shock felt like it stuck and was not good at all..probably why the rear shock felt so good...I may go coil, the tires worked great and I run in crazy rocky conditions it climbed like a billy goat!
I’ll check when I get home tonight. I went through my Amazon orders to see if I can find what brand it was but it looks like it’s no longer available. I’ll search for a similar dropper post on Amazon and post it here!
I’m running a 100mm dropper post on this bike. Seat post if I remember correctly is a 30.9mm.. I would definitely look into getting a longer dropper post of 120mm or more if planning to install one on your bike though!
I think if you were to get a size Large, it would fit really good! I’m 5’11 and I ride a large and I almost wish I got an XL. I think Large would fit 5’7 nicely
Thanks for the support!! I’m roughly 5’10, but luckily, Polygon makes several different sizes on all their bikes! I think a Small or Medium Sized Polygon D5 could fit him pretty good and give him something to grown into!
what is the fork your using? air or spring loaded? how much money? im looking to upgrade my bike and its the same bike, polygon siskiu D5, answer appreciated :)
The hard tail you can’t go wrong with, but it has its limitations. The polygon D5 I found is actually a really great beginner bike. While it’s not stock with the BEST suspension components, it handles fairly well and it’s a lot smoother with the comfort and ride. You can’t go wrong with either! But if I were to start over again and looking at my first bike, I would definitely consider this Polygon D5 as an option!
I love your video and build! I am looking to get the same bike and am wondering if anyone has anyone upgraded the forks to RockShox Lyric Rc2? I know the difference in wheel travel is 30mm and seems like a lot but would really look amazing. Thanks!
Thanks for the love! 30mm may be a little much, everyone online says don’t go more than 20mm, as it really changes the geometry for the bike, over forking the bike, which increase the chance of cracking the frame. But I’ve also seen a bunch of people riding at 150mm in the front saying they love it.
@@GregsGarage21 Thank you for your reply and you're welcome! Eh talk about a dilemma haha. Everyone has their method.. it's a difficult one to choose I think, but I guess I will stick to stock until I feel the need to upgrade and do more research etc when the time comes. Appreciate the feedback, thank you!
bro good vid but i watch your wid and lisen to spotify and in your vid is that sound like in spotify add bro i thinked that i lisen to adds on spotify all the time

can you add a link to your dropper post, front gear, & clutch system?
The Switch For Your Clutch is off if you turn it on the chain slap will magicly disapear, great video i love watching people upgrade there bikes.
I would love to see more trails with this bike. Great video btw 👍

Great upgrades 💪🏾💯
Looks great bud! Is the axle a 9mm X 100MM or the 15mm X 110mm boost? Great video too!
Thank you! I’d have to look up what the original front axle measurements were, but the new fork I upgraded to was a 15x110 boost!

Cool video thanks, my son has this bike. Were the front forks an easy swap over? I have found a recon pair and am thinking of doing the swap myself.

Hello I am looking to upgrade to to a new mtb fork and I was interested in the exact model of you’re fork thx
I put a Rockshox Sektor Silver TK 140mm 32mm sanctions on this bike. Found it on market place off a Demo bike for about $150. Amazing upgrade forsure!
I like this bike, but I am worried about the height or size. I’m 5’7.

Great video! How tall are you? I only ask because my son is short for his age, he’s 5 ft tall right now, and he’ll be lucky to break 5’7 lol

I ended up using a Rockshox Sektor Silver 140mm fork! The rear shock is a Rockshox Monarch 190x51mm
Looking to get into biking, should I start off with a hardtail?

is it still noisy after the upgrades?
After the upgrades the bike was very quiet! 10/10 worth that alone lol
Frame size inchi???
why did’t you just get a d7 most of your upgrades is what the d7 comes with out of the box 🤔
Should’ve just bought a d7 it comes with most of the high cost upgrades stock
Correct, It does! but even at the D7 entry point, I would probably still be making these same / similar upgrades I think! 🙂
Please make a video in which you do wheelies and stunts With the polygon siskiu d5
Haha alright, I’m adding that to the bucketlist!🔥
What is the fork?
I upgraded to a 140mm Rockshox Silver TK sektor fork!
