Absolutely the best breed, in my experience. One of the most family friendly, kid loving, and outdoors trail hiking/hunting dogs ever. Flat Coats do it all, and they do it without reservation, of unconditional love. Sadly, we lost our Oct. 2019, after 14 years of adventures, and enjoyment. She was rescued from Louisiana during the Katrina Hurricane, and quickly fit right in with our family of small grandkids. My constant companion all those years, is sorely missed.
Now with my fourth Flatcoat and loving every minute, got a rescue 3 months ago who is now 18 months old and all the same, complete idiots, but absolutely adorable and will give you all the love you can handle and some more! Artemis is a fantastic looking Flatoat, keep the pics and videos coming, I love it.
Rescued a year old black pup back in '08, planned on fostering her and adopting her out. She'd spent the first year of her life alone in a backyard, was wild, no manners, but wanted to learn. We thought she was a springer/spaniel mix. Later we identified her as a flatcoat, and I tool her to a dog park every day for a year to reign in that wildness. Needless to say, I fell in love with her, and she with me. I'll always have a flat coat from now on!
My mum just got her flat-coat a couple of weeks ago and we love her already so much! Can only imagine how much you miss yours. These are really awesome dogs!!!

I'm sorry to hear she has recently passed. I have always enjoyed this video throughout the years. I really like her favorite giant bone. My family had 4 flat coats overall.
We drove to Idaho to bring back our Flattie, Persie, to Bozeman, MT in October of 2012. This video reminds me so much of that trip, thanks for sharing! He also does "zoomies" just like your Artemis...now I know what to call them!
Thanks for the video. I was missing my "puppy" today. He just passed after 12 years with us as our alpha dog. We had three shelter dogs and the smartest one we found out was mostly a flat-coated retriever. We have tons of pictures of him but very little (only on an old phone) video. While we got him when he was around seven months, he still had that playful exuberance every day, even to near the end. He died two weeks ago of old age. Flat-Coated dogs are great. People just don't know how smart the dogs are. There are actually some in shelters too. We're not ready yet and probably can't bear to get another one so soon (especially a Flat-Coated because it would be probably too painful as a reminder of our Smokey every day). If you've not experienced these guys (or girls), they are a joy. Enjoy your girl. She looks like a fantastic dog.

We drove from Denver to Illinois to get her as a puppy; she loved big sticks, is ball- and water-obsessed, learned to open our back door when she was about 8 months old -- and she is the sweetest, smartest, best, most beautiful dog we ever had. We are so fortunate to share our home with her while we can: she was diagnosed with lymphoma 9 months ago and despite chemo, the cancer returned once already. We wish Artemis a long and happy life!

3:15 is how my Molly would greet me whenever I came home. Whether it was a quick trip to the store, or after a days work. The memories that brings back, is choking me up, since her passing in Oct 2019. :'(

Love this video. Wish that I spent more time recording my flatty. Although I can remember the ride home from the shelter as if it was on video. Had no idea what type of dog I had picked up or how old he was. The shelter thought he was a Newfoundland... Regardless, he let me know from the time that we started walking to the car that he sure was glad to be my campanion, and he still tells me, five years later.

Sadly, Gypsy and Stella, who were from her first litter, and were litter mates, have crossed the Rainbow Bridge🌈... but we have their great-niece, Piper! My parents actually drove down to visit yesterday to get their "Puppy Fix". I was shocked when one of those cuties didn't end up coming home with them lol! 🙄

He is my father´s guide dog and is one of the most beautiful and intelligence dogs I ever met, his name is Dickens and is 7 years old now but he continuous being like a puppy( so get ready :D ).I don´t know about other countries but here in Spain the flat is not a very usual breed but for people like you, every time is going to be a known breed like other retrievers. They are awesome.

hi. we have had 7 fcr and some have been large some smaller some with thicker hair than others but they have all had that same love of life, other dogs and especially people, so dont take any notice of that guy who says you have been ripped off, you have not. he is one great looking fcr, enjoy.
