This is my puppy Penny (yes, she's named after Penny from The big bang theory). She's a Flat-coated retriever born February 28'th 2018. I filmed her growing up from the second I got her (7,5 weeks) till she was 8 months old. Time goes by so fast, so cherish the moments you have with your puppy ♥

I had a flat coat retriever mix she passed December 14th 2020 at age 12 she was a wonderful dog and will be greatly missed.
Your Flattie was much loved to make it to 12. Our Lucy girl passed away 7 years ago. We miss her all the time. Flatties are a special breed of fur people. I’m sorry for your loss.

My flatcoat retriever passed at 17th september 2020 missed him so much
I’ve grown up with my flat coat named blitzen. We got him when I was in first grade and now I’m a junior in high school. He’s fought off cancer and is dealing with arthritis but I’ve never in my life met a nicer more gentle dog. I will always get this breed in the future.
My flatcoated retriever died four weeks ago. We got her when she was a tiny puppy and she was the most amazing dog I could ever wish for. She was so incredibly kind to all kind of creatures, dogs humans she loved everything. I was seven when I got her as a puppy so I grew up with her. She was besties with our cat and it still breaks my heart to think about the bond they had. Just like this doggo she loved to swim, especially swimming in the sea that was her favourite thing.I still miss her with all the normal things in daily life and all the habits we had with the dog. But very gratefull that my parents decided to take this dog ten years ago, so me and my siblings got to grow up with a true friend.
Mine passed this week. I had her for 15 yrs. I am feeling sad, especially when I come back home. I hope this feeling fades with time...
@@mluna9cr It does, it takes some time, but some sense of loss never goes away, but that's ok. I see my black lab in many other labs and retrievers - the look, behaviour and barks. My kaja isn't gone as long as her brethren are still around.
The pain doesn't go - you just get used to it.
Lovely dogs that give us lots of love and happiness.
My Flatty is 10 years old and she still acts like a puppy. Her love for water is unmatched although bath time is another story. I know she is getting up there in age for the breed and I dread the day she is not here. Flatty are a gift, they just want to love and give you so much.
We rescued a flat coat. Had him about 12 years before he got sick and ha to put him down. Hardest thing we ever ha to do. We miss him terribly. This is our breed of choice and we'll be getting another. Wonderful video.

I'm watching this because I have a 7 year old flat coat retriever boy and lemme tell yah Otis is so so very sweet. We didn't get to see him as a puppy because we adopted him from a shelter at 9 months old.they are such nice dogs!!!

Not sure where you guys live, but if ever there was a place for retrievers (or spaniels) to live, this is it. Gorgeous countryside for a beautiful dog to grow up in, and learn to dog for all their worth.

We recently lost our Flat Coat- Lab mix and he was the smartest and most loving dog ever. But, he only lived to be 10 1/2 years old due to a sudden death from Hemangiosarcoma. Had I known this would happen a little over 10 years ago, would I have adopted him? You bet. There were so many wonderful qualities in my “Forever Puppy”, he was the best.

I lost my mutt she was 17 I know how you feel so sorry for your loss if you live anywhere near PA my friend has some for sale $300 I know it would never replace yours but they sure do help with the loss her dog got pregnant before she could get her fixed

This is like watching a recap of my girl Wanda's first couple months! Gotta love those goofy manerisms once they get close to water, or mud. Love it!
Cherish every moment, flatties are as amazing as sadly they are fragile. Spoil him, he is worth it. Let him look into your eyes and he will see your soul.

My "BABY", HELEN, a gorgeous flat coat, is gone now 😭. Almost 12 years old... OMG, all of the wonderful memories 🙏l

Best dog Ive ever had was a flat coat. My family gave him to me when he was 3 or 4 and I sure miss him he died in 2006

Flat Coated Retrievers are the most wonderful dogs in the world. Unfortunately my girl is already in dog heaven. I miss her so much... 😥
We rescued one at 4 months old, during the Katrina Hurricane. She enjoyed a full adventorous life for the next 14 years, in great health, until her last 6 months. But my God did she ever shed hair! We had to vacuum the house twice a day to keep the hair-bunnies down too.
I didn't see any way of giving this 1000 thumbs up! I am in love with this breed.
Im crying...she reminds me so much of of my flat coated retriever. He was with us for 13 years. I grew up with him. Sadly he passed 27. jan 2021...i miss him so much
I’m a owner of 4 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback (love him), but one day I Hope to welcome a flat coated home 😊 Every time I meet one, I always get a connection (get the feeling it’s a right dog for me). I haven’t decided yet if we will have two dogs or not, but thinking of it as our RR loves to have companion with another dog friend 🤗

Bestest dogs, ever. I miss ours: Dora, Tigger, Flyn, Josie, Hope. All my good dogs from Skylark and TLC kennels. We talk about getting a smaller dog, but I think we'll be getting a flatcoat by and by, we love them so.
This dog. This breed. ❤Had mine to let go. The heart-break never healed. And as much as I just love dogs, the hurt of the parting is so deep, I cannot stand that again. So now I'm a very good 'auntie' and I spoil all my overnight guest-dogs, giving them mine / our best time.
Reminds me of our Rambo. Crazy, loveable flattie. He passed away in 2008 aged 16 only 2 weeks after our cat - and his best buddie - Blackie passed away at the age of 17 years.

Love this video as it is so much like our Flattie Fur Ball that is now 7 years old.
We have one too. She is such a happy and playful girl. She also has an uncanny sense for finding lost tennis or other balls. At least once a day, there is s new ball. I freak when they have the school name on it and made husband take it back.
Folks often ask if my golden x black lab is a flat coat. She is beautiful, smart and gentle. A perfect doggie.
She looks so much like my Louis :D Flats are angels. I will be so upset when he leaves me. But he is only 2 years old. I will have lots and lots of time with him.

I love your video. Our Flat Coat Retriever / lab mix puppy passed away today. He was only 8 months old and looked just like your puppy. He was a rescue and unfortunately got histoplasmosis. We did every thing possible for him, he had two long stays at the UW Vet hospital, but he just couldn't fight it. We are so sad and heart broken, we wanted a life time with our dog. Where did you get your puppy from?

We have a flat coated male, a year old now. We have wooded walking trails behind us but I am afraid to take him off the leash as he runs constantly and I not sure if he will come back if I unleash him. Can anyone add comments on this. Thanks

Are they easy to train and do they like dogs naturally because hoping to get a golden or flat retriever but don’t know which is best for an assistance/ service dog
Yes they are easy to train they do need a but more exercise but they do love dogs and company they are extremely friendly to so really you can choose
A golden retriever surpasses, any dog for service, dog, emotional the are the favorite we have a border collie and our new English golden retriever a little heavier built cream to white. I think that dog is absolutely gorgeous 2022 in big dog show not sure if it’s Westminster or another show ! A rich, dark chocolate mahogany, so beautiful just type it in and TH-cam I’ll find it for you. Hope you found the the right dog love to hear !

did you train it off leash early on?
yeah i live in norway and far away from the town, the only time i have a leash on her is when we are visiting other people or go to the vet. Dogs who are used to being free don't see the point in running away from their owner, while dogs who are used to it think it's exciting to be free, and want to explore more :)
