    wow...the blue one is gorgeous...impressive. i am thinking of using two metal springs on a lamp that i am redoing, is that a good idea?

    Just been filtering the wax on my grande lamp, thought I’d watch some TH-cam while I’m waiting for it to harden so I can put the liquid back in and your video is in the suggested. Weirded me out 😂

    Derek, I have two Grande lava lamps that I just got from Schylling. Both came to me extremely cloudy, wax sticking to the globe, and bunching up at the top. I would like for you to repair them for me. How can I contact you?

      @@terryatwater7961 I don’t do customs to order very often. Maybe if you’re somewhat near me, I’d tackle them for them for you. Reach out either way. For 1 three - for 0 for - 3 one nine 9

      @user-fc5cp2vt5v Well poo. Had hoped you could help out. I'm 63 just don't have the strength to squeeze to soda bottles through that tiny filter. Do you have an alternative way for us old folks? I am certain I can follow your instructions if I could just find an easier method with that filter thingy I can do it.
      Thanks for taking the time to respond.

      @@terryatwater7961 it’s not that I wouldn’t be willing to do something for you (especially given your physical limitations) it’s just that shipping generally gets expensive. Shoot me a text and maybe we can figure something out.

      @user-fc5cp2vt5v It's OK Derek. Can you just tell me a different technique to filter the current fluid out. I will review the first video I saw that included a "how to" along with the supplies you use.

      @@terryatwater7961I've seen people use clamps to squeeze the soda bottle instead of using your hands. Alligator clamps or ratchet clamps should work.

    You think someone will ever put something like this into production again?

    • @dereknolan-k5l
      @dereknolan-k5l  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@howiefeltersnatch247 nope. It’s expensive to produce, expensive to ship, a risk to ship, and a liability. Nobody will ever mass produce something like this again unfortunately.

    Hey man was gonna ask another question how hard realistically/expensive would it be to get a glass wear company to make a colossus size globe and make basically your own colossus?

    • @dereknolan-k5l
      @dereknolan-k5l  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@anthonypit2555 incredibly expensive because it has to be boro. I tried during Covid. Talked to practically every person in the country that deals with boro. Out of the maybe 150 I talked to, 2 said they would do it. One said $6000, one said $10,000. Found 2 companies in China that said they’d do it. One Said $1200 a piece, but I’d have to order 250, the other said $800 a piece, but I had to order 1000.

    Great lots of info!!! Have you tried adding fluid dye to an existing restored lamp that has clear fluid? Uncap add dye recap?

    • @dereknolan-k5l
      @dereknolan-k5l  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, I don’t dye fluid too often, as I prefer clear fluid, but I definitely can. Yeah, if the lamp isn’t having any problems, then yes. You can just pop the cap, add a little dye, and recap.
