Thank you!!!! I can't wait to order a brand new (cloudy) Walmart grande and refurb it myself. 👍
Have you tried direct messaging Arquette through his TikTok account?
I'm curious about the UV reactive wax... is it still holding up? Getting closer to being confident enough to share how you did it? Looking forward to the wax video!
I appreciate the update bro, I hope all is well with your family!
What would cause one's activity to drastically change w/o altering its contents or moving it? Mine snaked a lot, and then seemingly overnight went to bubbling almost exclusively. Along with that, they seem to strictly come from the base's center, and the bubbles always break away in the lower 1/3rd of the globe.
Great things come to those who wait. Thanks so much bro for the content and info. Hoping the best for you and yours 🤙🏼
God bless!
Take your time ❤ thank you for sharing your knowledge!
You have a store?
hello, my lava lamp is new Mathmos 130 Euro worth but muddy and not clear , how i can fix this ?
Derek, how do we purchase one from you? Not only have I always wanted a Grande, but I enjoy supporting smaller boutique-type businesses. Looked around a bit and didn't see a link for a shop.
@@youtubeblows I have an eBay page, but lamp sales are more or less shut down during the winter months. Shipping a grande in freezing temps is a recipe for disaster unfortunately
@ I thought they might be. Come Spring I'd be happy to buy!
Sick lamps dude! I'm still on the fence when it comes to refurbing mine but its great that you're making these videos to help the community out
I wish it was sold in Turkey too. I really want to buy it too but it is not sold in Turkey. They are very beautiful. I can watch them for hours...
I've been using the zero water gravity filter, you might lose the color but it can be added back, results are super clear, that looks awesome too! 😊
Pink and clear grande is awesome. I just found your channel thru reddit because I've recently revived my lava lamp obsession. Trying to find the sister lamp to my pink/orange hot rock lite 46500 that I got at the thrift store a few years ago, and just generally expand my collection. I'm really happy I found your channel! I love the passion you put into these projects. Please keep it up 🩷
I read that you can only use the Sawyer filter for a limited time before it is completely unusable, how true is that?
Any product links you can recommend for purchasing SLES & Triton-X100 in the USA? Amazon links would be nice as there's always some sketchy stuff for sale on Amazon on general these days.
Did you ever make a video on how to refill/color an american lamp? I inherited my dad's original lava lamp, but the liquid is low color is faded.
Hey, love your videos!
where did you get that blue multicolor wax grande lava lamp in the back. Did you modify it to look cooler I have a ton of lava lamps but I have been dying to get one of those like you have in the background of the video.
Do i need to add surfactant to the grande if I only filter the fluid?
@@Travisgardner-il8jx nope
@ thank you
Just finished up filtering the grande. Filtered the liquid out and then filtered back into lamp. Very happy with the outcome. Thanks again
I have a lamp that gets really hot but the wax wont flow... have a vid on how to fix that particular issue? thanks so much!
Grande is dope!
amazing vid. thanks!
Can i buy a lamp from you. If so where should i contact you
Damn I just found this channel and missed out on the give away. Do you have a shop? I have human money units to trade.
I work glass and i have a dust that glows in the dark and uv thank you for all the info you rock
Love your content bro. Those grande lamps are so freaking badass! 🇺🇸 💪
That thing looks amazing! Such a beautiful lamp.
I would like to buy a custom lamp. My lamp isnt the best. My lava lamp isnt the prettiest thing. the glass is bad on the bottom. I tried cleaning it but it's still bad.
How did you clean the paint off the colored globe?
New to the hobby. Saw your reddit posts. Thanks for putting together all this content! Do you have an online store somewhere?
I just bought a big one that was cloudy. Seeing your videos reminded me of how beautiful these lamps can be and I am excited to restore mine. :) Thanks!
I'm going to ask another silly question only because I plan on doing this with an extra grande I should be getting soon and with some of my smaller lamps in the future. In regards to the wax. When you melt it and pour into things (funnel, tubes..etc.) how are you getting ALL the wax out of that item afterwards? IE: The Grande you fixed in this video with the yellow wax. How do you get the dried up wax that then coated the inside of the funnel red tube so that when you do another lamp you aren't getting "wax" bits and pieces from previous projects? Or are you disposing of the tubing and using all new? I know in the video you stated to run boiling water through it as you are filling it back up, but wouldn't there still be residue or something left? Or would that completely clean the tubing? I guess I am just concerned about cross contamination between lamps/fluids/waxes that might still stick to whatever I'm using. Someone in the group filtered their lamp and there was a bit of cross contamination and their fluid changed color (it was a cool color btw) but just want to avoid any type of mishaps. I'm just trying to understand how the dried up wax isn't a PITA in terms of cleaning/residual stuff left over..lol Any by chance do you have links to the metal funnels/strainers that you are using. I was on amazon and found what looked like yours, but reading the reviews it appears the funnel has internal grooves in it, which would make cleaning the wax and anything a pain. Thanks again!
This is brutal. I was hoping to redo my 90's lamps, as quality control on new lamps seems to be garbage. :'(
Use a hair dyer - /when u turn up side down -just a opinion
@@scarecrow-62 actually, it’s much easier to just melt the wax by slowly boiling the entire globe in a lobster pot. That way, every bit of glass is hot, and everything comes out relatively clean. I did it that way in the video to give people the ability to do the job with the fewest supplies possible. Hair dryer/heat gun method works too.
Great podcast - love ur passion like u I love lava lamps had multiple ones bought several from Spencer’s - to find a good ones in todays time with cloudiness problem tk take care, my friend have a good holiday
Thank you for this! I just filtered 5 lamps tonight 52 oz ones. The clarity is so much better than before. You can actually see through them! Before they were so cloudy you couldn't see through at all. I will be doing my grande here shortly. One thing I did use that looks like you could actually benefit from is a little 12v water pump. I was able to filter an entire 52oz globe in about 1 minute into my pitcher, then reverse the hoses and filter it going back INTO the globe at another minute. I didn't have to squeeze anything. I think if you are doing grande it definitely would benefit you. Just a simple usb powered water pump that has a push button made the entire experience super easy. I imagine it will do my grande in under 5 minutes for the filtering process. $15 on amazon for the little pump, so they aren't bad, and there is NO filter material or anything in it. Just a small pump. Another thing I thought was funny out of 5 lamps one one really lost it's color. It was pink and by time I was done filtering it, it turned orange-ish/clear. Could be a faulty lamp and who knows what the previous person(s) did to it...., but worst case scenario I just use it and make my own lamp like what you do. Definitely a fun project! Appreciate your videos and FB posts in our group. I would have NEVER thought about anything of and my biggest fear was opening/closing the bottle but now having a bench capper it makes it SUPER easy for normal size globes!
@@NewShockerGuy if you look further up in my videos, it talks about the automated filter I use. Throwing a pump onto the sawyer filters works great as well though. Always awesome to hear the original video is still helping people. Merry Christmas.
@dereknolan-k5l thank you. I'm about halfway to 3/4 of the way through your video lol I keep watching little chunks but 100% it's very insightful! I only brought up the little USB pump because after watching you squeeze the bottles of the grande fluid I'm like I don't want to do that..hahah. I should have my plug here at the end of the week so I'll be able to do the grande next week I'm so excited! Stupid thing is so cloudy I can't wait for it to be clear like the other lamps. Hope you have a happy holidays and Merry Christmas as well! I think the natural progression once I'm done filtering lamps is to start making custom ones like you do. A few of the lamps I have look like they're beyond repair so rather than wasting time filtering them I think it's just going to be one offs for myself and see what I'm able to do. :-)
Grande is my fave ❤ any color pink just the way it is would be awesome , have a Merry Christmas an a Happy New Year !!
Bummer about the ban! I say give away whatever YOU want to give away. You're blessing us with your time, which is enough as is. Thanks for your knowledge!
So what is the total amount of Surfactant that you use? 7 tablespoons? Thanks for the videos.
where can I buy one??
Is the giveaway competition open to residents in the UK Derek?
Is there a way to buy one of your lamps I absolutely love them

I have 2 of the blue ones with yellow wax both cloudy barely see the wax bad I'm wondering can you add dye to the yellow and make it green 💚
So clean. Love the darkness of the plum
