In this Video we leave the awful Day 3 behind us and stumble upon one of the most beautiful Rivers in europe. Day 4 in Most na Soči was a suprise and got me offguard.

During WW1 this was one of the bloodiest fronts. Estimates vary, they go up to 1.7 million, but it is safe to say more than one million lives were lost. Some died because of fighting, some of hipothermia, winters can be very brutal here, some died in avalanches, some naturally occuring, some triggered by artillery. The biggest tragedy of all,our Slovene guys were forced to kill eachother, they were conscripts on both sides.
Doberdob, slovenskih fantov grob. Translation: Doberdob, the grave of Slovene boys. Doberdob (Doberdo in Italian) is a Slovene village in today's Italy where one of the bloodiest battles took place.
This place was literally soaked in blood. But, when you see this beauty all around, it is quite difficult to comprehend this place has such a brutal history.
I call Soča a cold, proud lady with a warm heart. Well, it is really cold, I mean temperature, at the same time it is beautiful, clean and inviting, you can enjoy her in many ways if you treat her with respect, at the same time she can be deceptively brutal. And that colour......
Definitely, a place worth visiting. For people who enjoy nature and beauty, people who seek adventure, there is a lot of activities, from rafting, kayaking, canyoning, fishing, hiking, mounting biking, skydiving, paragliding, skiing, also the people who like history, let's not forget there are some incredible wine regions near by. And, thankfully, there are no 5-star, all-inclusive turist resorts.
And, did I mention the colour?

My Grandfather was Austro-Hungarian Officer who fought at Soča front in WW 1. I've donated his medals to war museum in Kobarid. His name is Adolf Potokar. He was Slovene.

My birth home was missed by a couple of miters. Please make a video of "Brda". And go to "Sveta Gora". Take a 360 degrees view. Pure Paradise. Perhaps a more appropriate background music would have been a Slovenian song Soca Voda je Sumela, (Soca Water Hums). A song sung by thousands of Slovenians boys and girls from Primorska and Soca River Valley, sailing, in the early 1950-ties, on their way from Bremerhaven to Halifax, Canada.
