- This animated video explains the basic principles underpinning the operation and control of the Brushed DC motor. We start with an easy to understand mental model rooted in fundamental physics (the Lorentz Force and the Left Hand Rule), then progress to a basic model of the DC motor (incorporating back EMF) and how they can be controlled using modern chopper circuits. I focus on 4 types of DC motor - Permanent Magnet and then the 3 wound varieties: Separately Excited, Shunt and Series.
I also explore some more in-depth topics such as flux weakening and armature control.

Most underrated video regarding DC motor on youtube, Great job and effort.
Very nice. Thank you!
The most constructive explanation that I have ever found on TH-cam!!!
But, please, make pauses between sentences longer
What an explanation !Really grateful to have such kind of videos on youtube.Lots of respect and love to the creator . Real pleasure of engineering.....
Thank you very much - I am glad you enjoyed the video!
Such a nice explanation!
Awesome! Thank you very much!
Great explanation and simulation 👌
The best DC motor explanation so far! When will the AC motor video be released? Thanks so much.
Wow, so much effort put into this, awesome explanation! You got a new subscriber :)
May I ask what software was used for the "simulation parts" in the video?
Thank you! The software is Matlab Simulink.
Well done, is the video of AC motors uploaded? I didn't see it in the playlist.
Great job!! Just use more equations like when you said high current means high field 24:47
Please make more videos related to machine and power electronics it will be helpfull to all electrical engineering student's
what does actually mean when there's an open circuit fault on a DC motor with separate exitement? i get this whenever i put in reverse the motor
This is so good, don't know why it hasn't got a million views like other worse videos on the topic
Thank you!
that video was very uniqe. thank you for that high level contant.
