    I'm from the Czech republic and it feels so strange to see a place I've actually been in and have the memory of. My hotel was about 50 meters from the departure station, when I travelled the train, there was a huge snow storm though. I was travelling to Hrebienok to see the ice statues there. Nice trip I must say.

    I'm glad you have discovered this. it is some 30years since I was there and even with the old units though it was wonderful. I was fortunate to stay in a hotel right by Stary Smokovec station. Not many vids show the bit that goes to Lomnica, so well done. I'm looking forward to seeing the cable car ride soon.

    13:01 The Class 812 railcar is a modernized version of the Class 810 railcar produced between 1973 and 1982. Class 810 railcars are not in regular operation here in Slovakia anymore, however you can still find them in the Czech Republic. So yes, they are 40-50 years old, but these 812s were done in around 2000-2006, so they're not as bad as people might imagine.
    Fun fact: Previously, ZSSK Class 840 DMUs were used on this line, but they were recently moved to serve the Bratislava - Komárno line, which I think is a pity.

    This train system is too complicated, so I used it just one day while I was in the Tatras 6 times for a week each time. For start (2011 when I tried it) the train station doesn't sell tickets. Nor does the camping (Rijo Camping) where I stayed. You have to buy a ticket from one of the hotels that sell tickets, and that is a few hundred meters extra walk from the station. The ticket needs to be validated on the train. And you need to change trains for a trip of 10 kilometers. So it's much simpler with the car, the only problem is that parking is more expensive than in Switzerland.

    • @csuporj
      @csuporj ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just seen in your video that you can buy a monthly pass to simplify things. Though it's expensive if there are 3 people in the group and you use it for 3 days only, it's still simpler with the car.

    • @NonstopEurotrip
      @NonstopEurotrip  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found it very simple. Book tickets on the ZSSK app with instant delivery. 1 main line and 3 branches. Regular services
