Excellent point about not only training, but training under stressful conditions. Adrenaline dumps cause a myriad of physiological responses, one of the most challenging being that fine motor skills are greatly diminished. So something as simple as deployment becomes extremely difficult, especially if you've never trained for it. Good stuff as always, Jared.
Riding motorcycles can help with handling adrenaline and situational awareness I haven't watched the end, but it's hard enough to introduce stress while shooting, without 100/hrs simunition classes you mostly rely on time, forcing split second decisions (have a beep or color separate for good and bad guy) It helps to have a friend yell "your dead" and fire shots during your training. Idk how you would introduce adrenaline in knife training. Also seems like if you know how to handle yourself in a fight, and have a tiny bit of critical thinking and a bit of practice stabbing and slicing..... your going to be fine. Not many "knife warriors" running around out there.
I operate differently then because adrenaline dumps make me hyper focused/reactive. Guess it depends on how a persons life is and what experience they’ve been exposed to
Adrenaline is a double edged sword like a mother. Some folks become unfazed by trauma...Others overload and become instantly weakened from the overload. On that note, I didn't know you had charges, very honest of you using yourself as an example of someone who can't carry a firearm. I carry a Spyderco Matriarch 2 with the Emerson Wave and Wisemen Signet Ring in one pocket and a Shadowtech QRT Push Dagger on my belt. My Spyderco Manix 2 is usually in my other pocket. I usually carry these when walking around town or in areas I can't CC. They are all wicked sharp and easy to maintain with the right sharpener. I prefer fixed blades when in the outdoors doing hardcore tasks.
I can't express enough how important it is to keep your edc very sharp. If you have to do cut something in an emergency you could make the situation worse for them or you if you're struggling to cut through a material
Same here Jared I'm also a former felon. Some of us just make bad decisions in or younger years. I caught my felony when I was 20 years old. I'm 43 years old now and haven't been in trouble since. It does suck not being able to have or carry a firearm for self defense but I've found a good small fixed blade will work wonders in a tight situation. As for home defense ive got a hunting big bore air rifle. I went on a moose hunt several years ago and took a 1200lbs bull in eastern Alaska. After I got home and had children I wanted to have something in the house to at least protect my family. So I bought a second air rifle and had it modded by a professional so that it's shorter and compact. It's a air force texan 50 cal in semi automatic. For an air rifle to hit as hard as a 44mag at 10 feet is something else. Just wanted to maybe put that out there for the people in the community who need another option. As far as I know all 50 states class air rifles as non firearms.
Of course air rifles are not firearms. There’s no combustion lol. But I’m glad that you’re living well bro, I almost had a felony and I’m fortunate, so I can still have a firearm for now. It’s really not the first line defense, obviously running, hiding and then fighting is the order things should be done, but I honestly wouldn’t like a knife vs a man with a gun. I want to be a politician and hopefully I can propose a law that allows felons to carry a firearm in certain circumstances. Because why should anyone be less secure in their freedom? Granted, there’s always going to be foolish folks who kill one another over petty crap, so that’s why, being a man of Christ would change that. God bless you friend
That’s pretty awesome, I had no idea they made em so powerful. Something else to consider….SMKW has the pulsefire flamethrower for $550…..I would rather be hit with a bullet than lit on fire lmao
@@MLGB0Yz I hope you and others can change the "no guns for felons laws." Nothing in 2A that says you should be punished for the rest of your life after you pay your dues, you should be able to regain your constitutional rights. All of 'em. I carry a pistol and two knifes. But I think that I need to upgrade my knives, so this video is helpful. I've drawn my blade twice in self defense, but I didn't need to draw any blood. I believe that the visual of a shiny blade may have some deterrent value.
An akido instructor once told me- as soon as a guy pulls out a knife, consider that man to have 25 years of martial arts. You’re going to get cut, period.
@@brucedavidson5400I have been in MA's for over 40 years now and into knives for 25 years, I use my knife within the specific style, like Wing Chun or boxing, you only have to have a minor adaptation for the blade to be effective. Fact is this video is very helpful for finding the right fixed blade.
it depends on the liner some are made to fail while others are made to break before fail, also cerain ones have a lot of strength while others dont, like a compression lock is usually stronger than most regular liner locks, yet its still a liner but the pressure between the stop pin makes it much stronger
My issue with liner lock knives is the process to close them REQUIRES you to put a nice soft, fleshy, bleedy thumb IN THE PATH OF A MOVING BLADE!!! Think there's some OSHA regulations against similar actions in the workplace. Keeps me from buying what look to be nice, even fun knives, but I see liner lock and NOPE.
Anyone who figures a gun leaves you better off in any situation doesn't understand how effective a knife can be. The only advantage a gun gives you is distance. Inside 20 feet, give me a knife any day. Especially if someone feels so confident in their pistol over my blade. There are a lot of situations you don't want to, or can't use a gun. Bottom line: You should carry, and train with both if you have the ability. You can never be too deadly.
@@moa3008 it's stealthy in more than just silence. I can hide a knife almost anywhere, and it doesn't produce sound, smell, flash, or cause disorientation like a gunshot, especially in a confined space. Its also easier to defend yourself in court after using a knife to for self protection. And you dont need to ask permission from the state to carry one concealed
@@OldBadger1 a ccw permit holder is not very likely to commit armed robbery. The thug coming at you with a gun is most likely not carrying legally at all.
Great video all of the knives you mentioned are great. I mainly carry a knife when I walk my dog cause there are stays and other critters running around where I live. I could carry a gun but I’m always afraid of stray bullets going into someone’s house. I usually carry my Matriarch or the Emerson Elvia (or one of the fixed blade versions). But lately I’ve been carrying the Tops El Pionero.
The small taser I have makes a noise that loose dogs and coyotes hate. It would probably only sting, so the knife is just a back up. The taser sound alone has worked every time. Probably the smell of ozone burning freaks them out too.
Bro that closing line needs to become Your thing!!! THATS HOW YOU CLOSE A VIDEO!!!! You need to adopt that line and make it yours!!!! Hands down best closing line in any video on TH-cam

Can’t fault you for taking the plunge into this not so nice side of the knife world. The best advice is definitely practice, practice, practice and practice some more on your technique. With luck it will only ever be a form of keeping yourself fit! With luck you’ll never ever need to put a blade into another person after all a firearm is no where near as mentally taxing as you feeling that blade going into another person it’s way more likely to impact on your own mind than just pulling a trigger! Especially in the way our world is turning🫡 much love J&K stay safe and healthy both 🫵🏻😘👍🏼
+1 for the double edged clinch pick 2. I wanted something ambidextrous for when I'm driving. Once you had someone lean in your drivers window and start swinging you start thinking about an easy access defense. That guy from Shivworks knows his stuff.
This is a unique video among all the reviewer content here. Also, did not know you were felon. Pretty awesome what you accomplished with the channel. Love your take on things with a sharp edge. I hope we see a collaboration with your channel and Shivworks soon.
Lynn Thompson (Cold Steel) said it best. "people ask what steps I would take if I got into a knife fight?" "my answer is BIG ONES" as he strides off screen. And that guy makes a living selling knives for "combat" Great video though.
People keep forgetting that the CIA consulted with Lynn Thompson during the development of his Recon Tanto for their field operatives. That gives him more credibility than 99.9% of all the other faces of their company
If you live in a country (Prison) like Australia where it's illegal to sneeze let alone carry a blade, an alternative is....and yes it's not ideal, is a tyre repair spike found in regular tyre repair kits that use bacon strips. They are basically a prison shiv with a handle and I carry one in the centre consoles of both my cars. Haven't worked out a way to practically carry it on my person yet but I'm sure a ghetto sheath could be made.
I have the same setup on my Matriarch 2. I also carry a Spyderco Police model and a leather folding coin purse that will fracture a collarbone or a jaw if necessary. A proper mindset goes a long way.
I appreciate that you mentioned the felon thing because i am also a felon and i love firearms but cant "legally" carry. I appreciate your honesty on this subject.
The thought of trying to grapple with someone who had one of those double edged blades scares the shit outta me. Even if it was an 80 year old lady, she could still probably fuck you up. At least leave a nasty scar
Crossbar lock style knives can be deployed fast with practice by deploying with the lock itself. I've tried button lock autos but you have to make sure to hit that button right Wich isn't as easy in a panic situation as on thinks. Thanks for the other suggestions keep making good content.

It takes about two hundred deployments before you begin to achieve muscle memory. I always do some practice runs before I leave the house. Just make sure I'm fully familiarized with my weapon. Bottom line training makes you faster. And the fastest man to the party wins every time.
I love knives, cheap to expensive. My Dad bought my first, a 1 and a quarter, double blade pen knife, I still have it. He told me back in the 1950's, "...all men should carry one and if used properly, more damage can be inflicted (slashing) from a 1" blade than a 5 or 6" blade because of concealability." Most of my ancestry evolved around the Italian and my Uncle's knowledge of use for protection stayed with me. As a fisherman, I carry no less than three knives and a U.S. Navy long blade machete. For EDC, a 2" lockblade and a Philipeian karambit. I've had my share or skirmishes. I forgot to mention: Training is the key to success. No matter what you carry.18:39
17:28 - Yeah I understand that and I do agree, but what would worry me is not whether or not I can carry a gun, its whether or not someone else is and you just pulled a knife on them.
I would agree, and would say don't pull knives on people, I think when you pull a blade your already in the fight or within distance that you could. Regardless fight for your life in whatever way that means
@@NeevesKnives Oh absolutely, you do what you gotta do. I just think its a valid point too that sometimes its more important to not be perceived as a threat, rather than trying to be the bigger threat. My old CO did a tour in Eritrea, and they would walk around comfortably in some of the worst places on earth in full uniform. As long as they did not carry weapons they werent perceived as a threat, and as long as they made sure to not carry anything valuable, noone had any interest in them. Im fully aware that this is just one example and there are countless other ones that go the other way, but I still think its a good story that shows alot of situations can be manipulated. And those situations that cant? Yeah no i'll take that knife please haha

Good video. I totally agree about adrenaline stress training to help with dealing with all the mental physical stuff that happens. I also grew up in a tough area (Texas/Mexico border area). I'm an old retired guy who isn't the young Marine he once was. I train with weapons daily and have been blessed to have some good martial arts training (Kenpo/Escrima/Kuntao-Silat). The Emerson Wave feature is nice. I'm a big fan of Kershaw-Emerson knives because of the Wave feature and lower cost than an Emerson. I also agree that a smaller, well made fixed blade knife that is easy to conceal and deploy and that you're willing to do daily training with is a good tool to have. Keep up the good work. I just subscribed and look forward to more of your videos...:)
I opened my hand up with a Spyderco Civilian 8 years ago and it still hasn’t healed properly. I now need an operation to repair the damage. I’d say that’s a pretty effective tool.
I used to work around police in the drunk tank a few of them said knives scared them worse because a determined attack could cut through kevilar and in under 2 seconds could go from standing 8 to 10 feet apart to the knife stabbing into you. Guns are mighty, there's no denying that, however many encounters happen at intimate distance where it simply takes longer to pull and point than an attacker grabbing and slashing.
21 feet or less, someone can get to you with a knife before you can unsheath your pewpew and get a reliable purchase, aim, then discharge. Knives can be very scary!
I liked the video a lot, you showed a great models of knives and you said very smart things. I can say for myself i love knives, and i always carry a folding knife in my pocket - the Bulgarian version of Spyderco Military - Manly Peak. I'm using it like an utility knife for everyday tasks, and thank God i still never needed to use it like a weapon. But even if some day i have to, i'm sure he will do the job exelent. Greatings from Bulgaria
regarding the firearm vs. knife argument... maybe read into libre fighting. it kinda supplements shivworks stuff, is pretty interesting overall, and makes a few arguments why knives are interesting. for example knives and knifelike objects (pointed, edged) are more readily available, even in so called weaponless zones. think a pen or pencil or some scissors.
Dude i like this video you really show how to demonstrate the techniques and understand that combat knives NEED GOOD HOLSTERS with perferablly a clip that allows the most comfortable, preferential and most effective positioning or ability to position the blade.
I always practice pulling it out raoidly under pressure 😊. Then no one can escape the claw. Seriously though great video. I got a yojimbo that came with a wave type accessory on it so it deploys when i pull it out of my pocket. Firearm should be last resort depending on the scenario.
Firearm should come in ahead of a knife if you can get to it. Both are deadly force and juries hate knife use especially a hardcore self defense knife.
I deeply respect you for admitting you are a felon. Good for you. I love this video about self defense knives. I live in California where it is difficult to get a CCW to carry a gun. So I carry a knife. Thanks for the video.
Not only do I ccw my Glock26 I also carry my TKell Combatant for self defense and EDC. I think of a fixed blade as a last ditch, if I can not get to or use my fire arm for what ever reason (jam, empty mag) or your dominant hand gets incapacitated.
Jared's right. Training is EXTREMELY important! He's also right about the fact that a street fight can go a million different ways. Trust me! I've won fights that if it was a sanctioned fight in a controlled environment, they woulda beat my ass 6 ways from Sunday lol!
I think the most suitable lock for a folding knife intended for self-defense is the axis lock. With axis lock you get convenient one-handed operation, high deployment speed even in stressful situations and sufficient strength.
@@James777921I think it's worth it. Mini Adamas, despite the prefix "Mini", is a full-size knife. It has a more durable design than Griptilian, and its size and weight, unlike the original Adamas, do not leave you feeling like there is a brick in your pocket. Cruwear steel will cope with any reasonable task but it is not a full-fledged stainless steel (however, the Cerakote coating practically eliminated this drawback).
I think you are right on with what makes a good self-defense knife. Training makes a huge difference. I feel you should understand the legal side because you could survive the attack and spend a lot of time in prison. If you're fighting knife against knife you have to expect to get cut because it's likely. Best thing is to be aware and avoid situations if you can. If it's life or death do whatever it takes.
As always a great video, To add to any swlf defense , pepper spray is amazing, I have stopped 5 dogs, three at one time from attacking my dogs on leash ona walk with pepper spray, and it doesn't take much.the dogs are still okay and while on a walk I am always armed with a collapsible baton , side arm, knife, and of course the pepper sauce! Thank you for what you do sir!
Bastinelli scalpel. Yep, it's more or less a shank but...absolutly crazy(!!) sharp from the box. Cares super deep, there's only the small black ring sticking out so it's stealth to carry. Small thin blade but it will cut to the bone. The finger ring isn't that thick so I wouldn't use it for punching but it's great for quick deployment and retention.
I think the handle is a bit to thin for anything serious, better than nothing that's for sure but I think ergos and grip are extremely important to prevent twisting and turning as much as possible
I recommend the Matriarch 2 or the Cold Steel Black Talon II, which has a similar (but larger and more robust) recurved hawkbill blade, as well as the Demko Tri-Ad lock They’re both around $110 - $120, so just pick whichever suits you best
The best knife sharpener is made by Accusharp its a v configuration tungsten knife sharpener. It has a guard and is extremely easy to use, when used correctly you only need about 7 to 9 passes and you get a razor +, sharp edge.
That is the worst knife Sharpener sorry to say, you should check out my Sharpening videos including pull through, I explain exactly what they are doing to your edge on a microscopic level and what a properly sharpened edge looks like and why it's so important
@@NeevesKnives you are the one that's incorrect on this issue, tungsten is the quickest and best way to get an elite edge on any knife that has good steel, if it doesn't work for you, I dare to bet that you didn't use the right angle, or use the correct direction while using the sharpener. How do I possibly know this you ask, it's simple in my line of work, a sharp & effective tactical blade means the difference between life & death for me and my team mates. @@johnsmith-i1n as a professional sharpener that actually tests his results in a way that is as controlled as possible i can promise you its far far far far from even being mediocre, esp with actual good quality steels which have carbides inside of them and in some cases are hitting up to 70 hrc you must use diamond for those steels, however even lower grade steels still should be sharpened by a proper abrasive because there is a science to sharpening, just cutting in a v at the apex is not that. it should be cut a certain way, as theres also the serrations which pull through will not have th ability to do, have you ever seen what it looks like under a microscope? or possibly ever done a controlled edge retention test to see if its a proper sharpening or not, because its not the edge goes dull extrememly fast, and it does not strop back and the more you do it the faster your edge will dull

On that note, I didn't know you had charges, very honest of you using yourself as an example of someone who can't carry a firearm. Whatever it was that happened we know you do your best for you and your family so kudos on that. Cheers!
🙏
True. Keeping it sharp or don’t. Carry it period.
Something else to consider….SMKW has the pulsefire flamethrower for $550…..I would rather be hit with a bullet than lit on fire lmao
glad to hear, black powder is another option
Those are stellar ideas. I didn’t know a non pump air that hard. That’s pretty amazing semi…
How bout a nail gun..lol.
@@MLGB0Yz I hope you and others can change the "no guns for felons laws." Nothing in 2A that says you should be punished for the rest of your life after you pay your dues, you should be able to regain your constitutional rights. All of 'em. BTW, I too am a big air rifle fan. Although I don't have anything bigger than .25 cal. Alot of PCPs out there now chambered in some big bores! Cool technology.
I carry a pistol and two knifes. But I think that I need to upgrade my knives, so this video is helpful. I've drawn my blade twice in self defense, but I didn't need to draw any blood. I believe that the visual of a shiny blade may have some deterrent value.
thats a blessing for sure, and i def recommend having a quality blade that is reliable regarless if its fixed or folding
You must not be living right lol
My concern about liner lock knives are the toughness in a bad situation.
it depends on the liner some are made to fail while others are made to break before fail, also cerain ones have a lot of strength while others dont, like a compression lock is usually stronger than most regular liner locks, yet its still a liner but the pressure between the stop pin makes it much stronger
For my folding knife I really like the Yojumbo and for fixed I use the Civivi orthrus
I love your videos Neeves. Its great you talk about and show knives in the self defense department.
A knife has one distinct advantage over a gun; it is a silent killer!
@@lamegame420That depends on the jurisdiction. Where I live a licenced CCW gun carrier will win in court against a "Thug" knife wielder.
@@OldBadger1 a ccw permit holder is not very likely to commit armed robbery. The thug coming at you with a gun is most likely not carrying legally at all.
I carry a cold steel safe maker now.... But those shivwork p'kal's are something I'd really be interested in.
great to see an influx of blades designed for how fights actually go down
Excellent info as always brother! Just ordered the Clinch Pick 2.0!
Jerad, great approach to a subject that often goes untouched in our community! 👊👊👊
Awesome breakdown on tactical high and low points of these Jared! Keep it coming….
You like the pinero in terms of just everyday forget dress and carry?
Bro that closing line needs to become
Your thing!!! THATS HOW YOU CLOSE A VIDEO!!!! You need to adopt that line and make it yours!!!! Hands down best closing line in any video on TH-cam
I'm looking at adding a fixed blade to my edc and when I run my CCW. I try to also carry mace, just in case. Levels of escalation are important to understand.
Gotta say, with classic belt buckles I love me some belt buckle carry.
Much love to everyone and I hope you never have to do the ultimate sacrifice but you should always be prepared for the worst. Especially in the way our world is turning🫡 much love J&K stay safe and healthy both 🫵🏻😘👍🏼
Good points and knives overall. You should have included the Spyderco Karahawk, it’s the fastest deployable folder I have ever found.
+1 for the double edged clinch pick 2. I wanted something ambidextrous for when I'm driving. Once you had someone lean in your drivers window and start swinging you start thinking about an easy access defense. That guy from Shivworks knows his stuff.
Craig Douglas also designed the Spyderco p'kal. It's got a trainer also. It's basically a folding Disciple, with a wave opener
This is a unique video among all the reviewer content here. Also, did not know you were felon. Pretty awesome what you accomplished with the channel. Love your take on things with a sharp edge. I hope we see a collaboration with your channel and Shivworks soon.
He's a good kid with a good heart.
@@-Only.Facts-Definitely a good guy. You see that as plain as day with just the videos.
Slowly becoming one of my favorites sir, appreciate the ideas. I never live in good areas , not by choice.
So glad to find weapons I can legally use in my country!!! The shiv works blade is like it's made for me.
Very good points here Jared! Take care
Lynn Thompson (Cold Steel) said it best. "people ask what steps I would take if I got into a knife fight?" "my answer is BIG ONES" as he strides off screen.
And that guy makes a living selling knives for "combat"
Great video though.
Agreed
A tire thumper can be useful as well
Juat carry a screwdriver
I have the same setup on my Matriarch 2. I also carry a Spyderco Police model and a
leather folding coin purse that will fracture a collarbone or a jaw if necessary.
I love my clinch pick
Thanks for another awesome presentation!
Crossbar lock style knives can be deployed fast with practice by deploying with the lock itself. I've tried button lock autos but you have to make sure to hit that button right Wich isn't as easy in a panic situation as on thinks. Thanks for the other suggestions keep making good content.
I love this clip. As Bio-Mechanical beings our limbs/hands can be turned off. Muscle/Nerves/Tendons drive the train…turn off impulses and ya don’t have to go for lethality if ya don’t wish. Thx brotha! Just ordered the Clinch Pinch with the Omni sheath cuz of your video. Keep up the great vids!!! Can’t wait to get the knife but hope I never have to use it. If I do I’ll tell em Neeves told me to buy it. 😂
You only get what you settle for, stay strong
It takes about two hundred deployments before you begin to achieve muscle memory. I always do some practice runs before I leave the house. Just make sure I'm fully familiarized with my weapon.
Bottom line training makes you faster. And the fastest man to the party wins every time.
I'm a collector of defensive blades. The Bastinelli Diagnostic and TOPS unzipper are also incredible tools for the purpose.
One of my favorites is the Spyderco P'kal with the Emerson Wave - also designed by Craig Douglas.
Very cool video thanks.good job Jerad.
I promise to stay hard for you, Jerad! 💪
I have the TKell Gideon v1 and absolutely love it. Tims knives are the best !
@kvernesdotten yeah I grew up in the projects low income areas in the Chicago area I've seen violence and been apart of alot of violence and yeah you for sure don't want to be seen as a threat, more weak there's a middle ground
@@NeevesKnives Sorry for sidetracking this so hard off the video topic btw, I know (or think at least) the premise is if you HAVE to fight, whats a good knife, and you do a really good job on that. I just find the topic really interesting. Really appreciate you taking the time to answer comments like these btw!
I just subscribed and look forward to more of your videos...:)
push is prob my fav EDC but i also have an OTF i carry for intimidation if need be. the best defense is mental
love the tie-wrap wave suggestion!
Michael Janich had a great course in Estes Park, Co. He still might.
i met him at blade show this year
I opened my hand up with a Spyderco Civilian 8 years ago and it still hasn’t healed properly. I now need an operation to repair the damage. I’d say that’s a pretty effective tool.
Nice one Jared. Thank you. What about the TOPS Unzipper? Imo pretty underrated Blade.
Great video Jared👌🏻
I used to work around police in the drunk tank a few of them said knives scared them worse because a determined attack could cut through kevilar and in under 2 seconds could go from standing 8 to 10 feet apart to the knife stabbing into you. Guns are mighty, there's no denying that, however many encounters happen at intimate distance where it simply takes longer to pull and point than an attacker grabbing and slashing.
21 feet or less, someone can get to you with a knife before you can unsheath your pewpew and get a reliable purchase, aim, then discharge. Knives can be very scary!
@@cueball981 Correct, but it wont be necessary or probable to aim at that close proximity
The Cold Steel black talon 2 is just like the Spyderco. Nasty knives
Great video, keep up the good work
I liked the video a lot, you showed a great models of knives and you said very smart things.
He one of the best channels on the tube love the fact he goes there n is knowledgeable about keep it up bro
Excellent realistic advice take heed
Cold Steel Black Talon II is also a nasty option with a Wave...
When I walk my dog I usually in the front pocket my Spyderco Ronin 2 or my clinch pick 1st gen
I have a TKELL nightstalker CQC Too , Great recommendations
Good stuff Jared!
I deeply respect you for admitting you are a felon. Good for you. I love this video about self defense knives. I live in California where it is difficult to get a CCW to carry a gun. So I carry a knife. Thanks for the video.
Awesome video!
Not only do I ccw my Glock26 I also carry my TKell Combatant for self defense and EDC. I think of a fixed blade as a last ditch, if I can not get to or use my fire arm for what ever reason (jam, empty mag) or your dominant hand gets incapacitated.
also in the case the thing you need to might be a sharp blade to cut something or someone free or many other reasons
@@NeevesKnives Very true! That is why many first responders carry a blade as a tool.
@@James777921Mini Adamas ;)
Great video.
Keep video like this one coming💪
"cannot" not "can not."
Once an editor, always an editor.
As always a great video, To add to any swlf defense , pepper spray is amazing,
I have stopped 5 dogs, three at one time from attacking my dogs on leash ona walk with pepper spray, and it doesn't take much.the dogs are still okay and while on a walk I am always armed with a collapsible baton , side arm, knife, and of course the pepper sauce!
I cannot say enough about stopping a fight before it can start!
Lowes sells the one I use, it comes witha small elastic band holder I put it on my non dominant wrist, and still have access to all the above mentioned while maintaining my pets.

i am so certain that the shiv works is not legal is alot of countries lol. Brutal as hell.
I'm sure they are not, I'm in the USA
Bastinelli scalpel. Yep, it's more or less a shank but...absolutly crazy(!!) sharp from the box. Cares super deep, there's only the small black ring sticking out so it's stealth to carry. Small thin blade but it will cut to the bone. The finger ring isn't that thick so I wouldn't use it for punching but it's great for quick deployment and retention.
The Fred Perrin Street Beat is a great little knife in this category.
What do you thing about CRKT Minimalist Katana?
I think the handle is a bit to thin for anything serious, better than nothing that's for sure but I think ergos and grip are extremely important to prevent twisting and turning as much as possible
Your Vid’s are spot on!!! Excellent thought process 😊
Kinda freaks me out carrying behind the belt buckle...i dont like dangerous things so close to the warrior.
Yeah I get it, you can carry on the outside instead
I don't own a self-defense knife yet but plan to start building my collection over time. Which 1 of these knives would you recommend I start with 1st?
I recommend the Matriarch 2 or the Cold Steel Black Talon II, which has a similar (but larger and more robust) recurved hawkbill blade, as well as the Demko Tri-Ad lock
They’re both around $110 - $120, so just pick whichever suits you best

There’s a time and a place for everything. OC is another big one people don’t think about or skip over. Guns are the best option in those situations where they would be the best. But it’s obvious if you don’t have a smooth brain that you can’t always resort to that. Also like you said there’s a lot of people that have had there rights taken away from past mistakes. Me personally I would do everything I could do to look into getting them expunged. But even if you can’t. There are ways of legally owning black powder guns for at least home defense. Granted not the best but still it’s better than a bat in your house. Over all i agree with your list and explanation. And honestly if you can afford it Shiv Works is one of the best out there.
I’m a new gun owner and am now looking into an edc/defense blade option. Totally agree that a blade can be the better tool in some defensive situations. Also, I fully intend to abide by the gun laws making a blade the only/best defensive option in some settings.
