  • So good, had to make a video. I'm actually obsessed with this thing. I don't work for Epiphone, but if they keep making guitars like this, maybe I will apply :)

Incredible sound, and it looks gorgeous. I shouldn't have watched this because now I want one even more.

Just bought one and I can't put it down. Such a spectacular instrument for the price. Best thing I've ever owned

Just got mine last week from sweetwater. It is everything you described and more! The sound is in gibsons play ground. BTW, it's a bone nut and bone saddle. I also got the epi edread case, it's plush and remarkable! Only one thing is the bridge pins, they were jammed in on quite a few. I changed em out for the tusq presentation style bridge pins ( traditional style too big) with ernie ball 2153 and wow the sound is like a grand piano! Enjoy man and thanks for the inspiring review!

Purchased one yesterday and cannot wait to try it out. I have a rather beat up old Gibson B-45 12 string and I want to see how close they sound with that "Gibson Sound". Your overall presentation with all your varieties in playing helped me a lot in buying this 12 string Epiphone. Thank you very much.

I’m interested in buying the Gibson 12 string the beat 45 or this Epiphone is there a huge difference? Or the Epiphone sounds close enough, and I could save some money.👍😁 Thanks.

I have the 6 string version of this Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird (gave up on 12 strings after breaking a bone in my hand), and it’s awesome. John Denver played a lot of songs on 12 strings (Rocky Mountain High and I think Annie’s Song, probably many more), if you’re looking for more songs to play on it. Enjoy, it’s a beautiful and beautiful sounding instrument.

Thank you! Like yourself, I cannot believe the incredible beauty and value for the price! It is a treasure to keep. The color is like a sunset itself! James

As you were strumming, you hit a chord that brought this song from 1963 back to mind. It was recorded with two 12 string guitars.
WALK RIGHT IN, by the Rooftop Singers. I don't know what kind of music you play, but listen to this tune.
1963 was an eclectic year at the top of the charts, with #1 hits coming from crooners ("Blue Velvet"), girl groups ("He's So Fine"), an underage superstar ("Fingertips (Part 2)") and even an import from Japan ("Sukiyaki"). There was even room for folk music, as the Rooftop Singers hit the top spot with their adaptation of this Jug Band classic originally recorded by The Jug Stompers in 1929.
The song was written by two members of The Jug Stompers who used to perform at medicine shows: Gus Cannon (banjo, jug) and Hosie Woods (guitar, kazoo). When the Rooftop Singers turned it into a feisty singalong, Cannon and Woods got huge windfalls. Cannon, who once hocked his banjo for $20 worth of coal, not only got royalties for the hit, he also got a recording contract with Stax Records.
The Rooftop Singers were Erik Darling, Bill Svanoe and Lynne Taylor. Darling, formerly of the Tarriers ("Cindy Oh Cindy," "The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)") and the Weavers (he replaced Pete Seeger), put the trio together specifically to record this song. Darling modified some of the original lyrics; "Two way woman" became "new way of walking," for example, and the group recorded it using two 12-string guitars. Follow-up songs "Tom Cat" and "Mama Don't Allow" barely made the charts, but this group that was put together to record one song stayed together more than four years.
This being the '60s, many listeners spotted a marijuana reference in the lyrics, "Everybody's talkin' 'bout a new way of walking... do you wanna lose your mind?" It's doubtful that the writers of the song had that intention - especially in 1929.

Bought this guitar earlier this year as in 2011 I lost the opportunity to buy the Gibson version. It's heavily built and neck heavybut after six montgs of heavy strumming it started to open up...still not as good as my my Guild F512 but the thinner neck makes it much easier to play.

I agree totally! Got mine in June from American Musical Supply. Had to do a review for the first time on an item I purchased. Have had Guild, and Rickenbacker 12 string guitars. This is every bit as good. Epiphone is making very high quality acoustics in their inspired by Gibson range, and Masterbuilt lines. I will be going back for another.
There should be a sticky on one side, velcro on the other piece to hold that battery back in place. Enjoy.

thanks for the heads up! maybe it went loose. I haven't changed the strings yet, so haven't really inspected the interior.

I have a 1998-2000 Gibson epiphone 12 string acoustic guitar and I can't believe how great it sounds. I bought it used for only $200 and I have to tell you the quality is excellent condition and the sound is just as good if not better than your hummingbird.

Solid top guitars and the necks all need humidification to remain stable as well

    • @salimalamistheone

yeah, probably a good idea! I just get lazy for cheaper guitars. But yeah the top can be affected as it can morph and bend.

Is yours from the "Inspired By Gibson" range or from the lower tier of the Epiphone line? I have the inspired by one and absolutely love it.

yes! Inspired by Gibson. They are much higher quality. I used to own a normal Epi line Hummingbird but it felt like playing cardboard

Cmon $900 and the battery pack is rolling around inside. Such a simple thing, makes you wonder what other shortcuts they took.
