    Hey, somehow I am triggering the FLEXIBLE update, and when I click Update the Downloading window appears and proceeds to download and install, not allowing the user to use the app nor showing the Snackbar with the Install button... Any ideas?

    I find error
    onFailure: Install Error(-10): The app is not owned by any user on this device. An app is "owned" if it has been acquired from Play. (developer.android.com/reference/com/google/android/play/core/install/model/InstallErrorCode#ERROR_APP_NOT_OWNED)
    the only thing i don't made it , signing config -> release -> [ this section]

      Please have a look at the documentation: developer.android.com/guide/playcore/in-app-updates/test
      You need to download the app from the Play Store first.
      My demo app won't work at the moment, because it needs to be signed with the same certificate as the one on the Play store.

    I have an issue with testing this feature. The notification shows up on real device and I can perform an update, but when i try to do this using emulator nothing happens. Any ideas why?

    • @MikeJohnston355
      @MikeJohnston355  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you need an emulator with Google Play Services. Check the docs for more info.

    Hi @Mike,
    is this feature working only in kotlin? I've tried to implement it in java and i don't get the popup.
    I can see that there is a available update in Google Play but when i open the app i can't see the required update button like in your demo.

    • @MikeJohnston355
      @MikeJohnston355  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will also work in Java. Did you read the docs on how to test In App Updates?
      You need to do a signed release build, same as what you would upload to the store.

    • @robertporancea4426

      @@MikeJohnston355 Yeah i know. I did this but still not working. Like i said i can see that an update is available in Google Play but when i open the app, i don’t get the popup.

    will it work immidiately when my app update available on my play console or when my update is availabe on play store, actully play store takes more time than play console because of some caching problem of play store mobile app.

    • @MikeJohnston355
      @MikeJohnston355  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure of the exact behaviour. I just know it will be available once Google has approved the update on the Play Store.

      Correct, it can be any number that isn't already used to start another activity for result.

      Testing this stuff is very tricky. You need to sign the APK with the same keys as the prod app. Check the docs for more information if you're still stuck.
