Those track gates in Wilmette were pretty neat to watch. Glad you got that on camera! Also it's neat that they got the Oakton Street station open too. Great video!
The IRM charter train I was on also had the rollsign issue. It seems to happen when all of the third rail shoes have no contact with the third rail, like at grade crossings.
Purple Line trains COULD switch over to the inner track before Addison and back to the outer track past Addison, but any switching maneuver can cause delays. Since the Sheridan station isn't all that far from Wrigley Field and it already has two island platforms, it's easier for Purple Line trains to stop there for Cubs games. Perhaps they should have reworked the Addison station to a two island platform arrangement.
Addison Street used to be two side platforms on the Evanston tracks, and it was a B station. That meant Howard-Jackson Park "B" stop trains had to switch to the outer tracks to stop at Addison, then back to the inside tracks at the Belmont Avenue junction.

Nice work! There's not enough great catches like this out there.
Great Video & Locations. Chicago is such a great city.

The train coasts through the crossings. There's enough inertia to keep it going until it contacts the next section of third rail.

Something random I noticed: The Pink Line uses the same marker light combination (red and white) as the Metropolitan Douglas Park trains.
However if it comes to stop for some blockage, it will have to reverse and come back again to pick more speed up.
2012 good years
How does the crossing thing work?? Where do they get the electricity form??
At 4:38 it appears the sides of two cars have been scrubbed below the windows. Is this graffiti removal? Is graffiti a large problem on the CTA?
I think the purple line should stop at Addison and not Sheridan at Cubs games
Ohh ok thanks!
