Thanks for making this video. I've been building Zoids and gunpla for years, for medical reason I've never been able to drive so I haven't had much interest in cars, but I've always loved the AE86. I saw this model at my shop and wanted to see how different building a car would be from a robot, and thanks to this video I ended up buying the kit. Yours looks great!
I have the Fujimi kit but it has less details than the Aoshima, I feel like Aoshima is way better than FUJIMI and tamiya in terms of details and quiality. Nice build btw!
Hi, it depends from paint type also. For example if you are using some stronger solvent based paint, direct contact with plastic without primer coat in between can damage the surface. Also if you are using acrylic paint surface primmer is recommended. Primmer not only helps to increase surface adhesion, but unifies surface - if you are using filler, metal parts, wood and plastic combination you must prime to unify them before initial paint coat. Hope that somehow helps :)
@@rrumsterr4862 It greatly depends on your expectations, budget and prior experience. For tools - basic is enough: hobby knife, sprue cutters, some paint brushes. As for paint, it depends what painting method you choose, but I assume beginner will start with few cans of Tamiya TS spray and some Vallejo colors for interior painting with a brush. So around 4 to 9 different colors. And also you will need special glue for plastic models, because supper glue and similar is not recommended.
Hello very nice detailed video i like it, the ae86 levin has been one of my dream cars for long time i always thought of buying like a display model to have but there isnt anything really good out there and its all expensive, althrough i see these modeling kits for reasonable prices therefore im considering to buy this not sure how difficult it would be because i literally have 0% experience in building kits, so im wondering would you or anyone give any advice would this be a good starter kit or what equipment or paint i should buy for a first time builder. Thanks :)
I must admit, if You never tried building a model (any kind) results could disappoint You. If it would be only one time experience just to get ae86 display model, i'd strongly recommend saving up for AE86 from Ignition Model, if You still want to give a try with modelling- try prepainted kit from aoshima, although I think only Trueno is available right now. If You feel like diving with all "Your guts" into this modelling thing, get model that I show in this video and tamiya spray cans, acrylic paint and brushes - if it still will not turn out as you expected there is a big chance You will have heaps of fun!
I’ve been trying to research this kit and all of the AE86 kits I’ve seen, are RHD. Do you know of any company that does a LHD dash, for this kit? Or how I’d be able to convert it to a LHD dash? Thank You.
If you really need LHD that bad, there is conversion kits from "Hiroboy", these are high quality and made from resin, and I know for sure there is one for ae86 interior with LHD
@@guy5828 if it is your first model kit, make sure to do some research. You need specialized glue and paint, regular art supplier paint or CA glue won't work.. Cheers!
Красивая модель! В Сибири таких много еще ездит, стоят не дорого и копаться в них одно удовольствие. Успехов вам :)
Sorry I can't really read russian, but I appreciate Your comment :)

Wow. Love the detail on this build. It looks so simple, but the small details really make it pop. Great video.
Im getting one
Good build, man, I like all of you videos, now that's a Toyota sports car classic.
If my local hobby store has this one in stock next time I’m there I’ll snag it.
very nice build mate! love all your videos, really helpful. Make me want to build the Levin too. keep'em coming!
Thanks!
Nice clean build!

I believe that's true. But I stopped chasing details long time ago, for me its about making most of what you have on hand :)
Simple models thank you for the response, that’s a very good mind set.
beautiful
Love your videos hope you continue to make them dude 👌
WOW... super pro built!
Love this video,i love how good that details
Nice build 👍
You just miss one thing
THE TURBO
It's important to note this is the version with engine, be careful as the std kit does not have the engine
That is why I am showing box of the kit before building it :)
@@StaticModel Its a pity they cannoy include the engine as standard now in the new rebox, it's only 1 sprue
PERFECT👏👏👏
Is priming necessary? Some people say that sanding the model before painting is enough. Sorry if my question is dumb, I'm new to scale models.
