Hubby’s friends OWN an apartment in Son Parc Menorca - it is up such a steep flight of stairs that Sherpa Tensing is often found half way up, ready to help with the ascent by handing out climbing ropes and oxygen tanks and masks - 😳😫😵💫 but Menorca? What’s not to love about the island? There are so many beautiful, peaceful and tranquil beaches and bays to visit (the more “commercial” - avoid like the plague! 🫣) I spent my honeymoon there 30 odd years ago in a little place called Santo Tomas - only two hotels, a vaaast expanse of beach and a little rustic beach bar/cafe - that was “it” - returned to visit it 10 years ago - not so “deserted” anymore but still lovely, if you decide to venture out to Menorca again, see if you can hire a little car and visit around the bays that holidaymaking tourists do not seem to know about - you will see sea that is just so blue it looks fake and sand that is pure white. It would be so worth it! A two hour flight into a paradise 😍
😂 you had me at oxygen tanks! If we visit again we will certainly rent a car and take in more of the island! It was stunning and so welcoming. A great place to relax for even a weekend!
Ok here goes, France: Marseille,Nice. Spain: Cap Salou, Mojacar, Alcudia (Majorca), Gran Canaria, Barcelona, Valencia Gibraltar. Italy: Genoa, Florence, Pisa, Vatican City, Rome, Salerno. Croatia, Portugal, Turkey: Antalya, Bodrum Canada: Newmarket,ON. Domican Republic, Margarita, Tunisia, Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt). Have spent many happy days and weeks across the length of breadth of Britain from Lossiemouth in Northern Scotland down to Land's End in Cornwall. Recently returned from out first trip to the US (Vegas and NYC) with Jamaica upcoming next June.
Are these all places that you have visited, Lee?! Croatia is and has been on my list for a VERY long time; a place that’s generally not on a North Americans radar. I love Jamaica (hopefully) planning a trip there in a October! Have a wondering time!
I much prefer hiring a villa abroad than staying in a hotel. I know it's more work as in getting all your shopping etc, but it gives you independence. Car hire is essential IMO. I'm jealous after watching that..
Just come back from seven days staying in neighbouring Santa Tomas. During that time I've spent three absolutely wonderful days nude on Son Bou's Platja de Talis beach. Platja de Talis beach is predominantly nudist, but with a proportion of swimwear wearers, and topless young Spanish women, who all share the beach most harmoniously, making for a really relaxed and pleasant experience. I'm already looking forward to returning next year for a fourteen day stay, which should see me enjoying Platja de Talis even more.
Yes. You're mad. The thing about Spain is you either act like British tourists (English bars, English food, racing around like crazy). Or you take note of how the inhabitants live, watch, listen, learn. If there are no locals about, there's a reason. If you are passing locals on the street, there's a reason. If you are the only ones doing step races, there's a reason. The thing is the Spanish have the highest longevity on the continent. There's a reason. The Spanish have something called the 'paseo'. Worth checking out. They also have something called 'hora de comer', 'siesta' and stuff like that. It kinda works. Plumbing is for plumbers. Taxis are a thing. You'll rarely see a sports clad, panting, sweaty Spaniard around. Not a thing. Still, each to their mad, crazy, incomprehensible thing, I suppose. Felices vacaciones.
In complete honesty, my idea of a perfect holiday is traveling somewhere unfamiliar where I’m immersed into the culture… where we were in Son Bou wasn’t overflowing with Spanish culture - it is villa vacation hub. It was all a bit familiar and yet completely different. However, the people were wonderful, the beaches lovely, and we had a great time! What’s at the top of your holiday destinations list (abroad or local)?

Loved this!!!
Was a great way to unwind (clearly I needed it lol)!

Now that I’ve done the villa thing, I think I agree! Also wish we had rented a car while on the island so we could see more or Menorca - next time!

Should have doubled down on the tea pot cocktail by drinking it from a tea cup! 😃
Now that would have made for some controversial content 😂
