It's surreal that our June 2022 visit to Windsor Castle pictured in this episode has become somewhat of a time-capsule in only a few months. With the announcement of HM Queen Elizabeth II passing away only 4 days after publishing this episode, I was overcome with gratitude for having been present at Windsor Castle during her reign. Our time in Windsor has left us with lasting memories. Please feel free to share your thoughts, comments, and reflections below!

I took some friends visiting from the States to Windsor Castle. In 'spoons afterwards I suggested that if they wrote to the Queen saying they'd been to the Castle they'd get a reply from the palace. They didn't believe me so I got them to do it when they got home. A few weeks later a handwritten letter from the palace saying that the Queen was pleased to hear they'd enjoyed the castle and thanking them for writing arrived. The mail man must have been impressed!

That looked pretty cool. As for Blackberry bushes, I think most Brits will stop and eat them, they're everywhere in the UK and pretty tasty.

You HAVE to go find the Valley Gardens in Virginia Water in late April/ May when the whole landscape becomes a riot of colour, azaleas and rhododendrons en masse, plus waterfalls, roman ruins and Royal Holloway (one of the most impressive buildings ever). Having grown up in Windsor, that was our best kept secret

Went there in may 2001 and it was breathtaking indeed.
We are so lucky to have such a beautiful country but sometimes we take it for granted.

I re-watched this episode this morning and felt even more grateful to have been there before her passing. The world lost a dedicated and inspiring soul. I'm grateful for your kind words and that you found appreciation in the episode Stephen :)

I used to live in Windsor. Not so picturesque when the squaddies are out on the town on a Saturday night. Nor when the Household Cavalry canter down your street at 7,:00 am on a Sunday morning making the devil's own racket. But, hey, a walk around the Great Park is a very pleasant few hours on a good day.

Great video Michelle, brought back many memories of the castle. Grew up in Slough so had a few school visits as well as with the Scouts and family. My Father worked as a warden in the state apartments for many years, was there the night of the fire. A bit worrying but he was fine, helped move some of the artefacts out of danger. The bridge over to Eton is pedestrian only now but i can remember driving over it. It used to be the main route into Windsor but was closed when a boat going under the bridge noticed cracks appearing as a tank transporter going to one of the Army barracks was going over. It has been closed to traffic for over 50 years. Another fantastic video, keep it going.

@@ACanadianAbroadMichelle That was always my complaint, even with news readers but you are now correct. It seems that the flag has been called The Union Jack so many times that it is now officially accepted as being correct in either form. Grrr. A lovely video and the first one involving a Thames kayak ride that I have seen. Subscribed.

I used to eat them as a kid. But when you realize all the fly's and spiders that lay eggs , No way. Must wash them and check them out. Same with raspberry's. But its not killed anyone yet. I Just rather have them cleaned. Happy eating.
