Ren is the most talented artist I've come across in decades. His musical range is both broad and deep. He is going to do even more amazing things in the future than he has currently accomplished. But, I think there is a real danger here of creating a cult of personality that Ren will have a hard time living up to. Lifting human beings onto a pedastal sets both you and the artist up for disappointment, as he can't possibly live up to the expectations being set here. Appreciate his art, praise his talent and super high work ethic, support his art by listening to his music. But respect that art and give him the space and permission to change and grow. If you overwater a plant, you will kill it. Artists on pedastals often get locked in a box by their fans, and that is where art goes to die. Cindy Lauper, of "Girls just want to have fun" fame, could have stuck with that formula for the rest of her days and had great commercial success, but chose to explore a huge range of different musical styles over the years. She has produced a large catalog of great music, but few know she is even alive anymore. Respect his art, forget the pedestal.

And his new victory, his #1 album, is indeed how I found you. And this video. And I am so very grateful for that fact. Better late than never as they say. But there is a very different and unique perspective that you have brought to this that no one else has. It's the simple humanity, the empathy, the appreciation, the shared human experience, the understanding and the celebration. And a celebration where we really honestly are so happy for someone else because what they achieved was beyond well deserved. The desire to cry because you are so proud of someone and their journey and what they have done with literal nothing. To steal and "edit" a quote by a writer I love, I have to say that in spite of it all, despite it all, quitting being the easiest of all options, "nevertheless [he] persisted". And watching him do so, listening to the courage and relentless effort so easily evidenced in his words, his music in all it's genres, and then finally the voracity with which he put it all out in the last couple months, I am a changed person. I have faith in myself, in this world, in healing from illness and grief, in starting over whether you think you have 1 day or 10,000 years still to come. I hope and prayer that I find the bravery to put myself back out into the world and make a difference. Of any sort. Even if it's only for 1 person that is plenty. I don't know if you know of Brene Brown, but she is one of the other most inspirational people I have had the great fortune of finding in my life. She has a TED Talk which I believe is, or was, the most watched TED Talk in their history. And what she spoke of is what you just mentioned. The power and strength in being vulnerable. She wrote a book about it as well and the title is what I will leave you with because I think it sums up your kind and human video here and Ren's efforts and to not go gently into any night ever. You both accomplished what she said we all could by "Daring Greatly". Sorry this was so long. You just have an aura that deserves to know the impact it has on others for it is so much larger than your analytics could ever convey. With that, I thank you. And Ren. And I smile.

Love your respective of Ren and his music. I had tears. I have followed him for many years. I always thought he would be important voice for many people. Beautifully put ❤️ In this safe community, which, by its existence is a sign of the healing, may I ask...if crying is healing me, is there a time where I'll stop crying when I see and hear these things? Between reactions like yours and the Ren rabbit hole, I've cried daily for a couple of months now lol. I feel the connection and the hope but I'm still crying lol. Early 50s male, not used to crying much though I always have "been a bit soft" like that. Just wondered if I'm doing it right lol. I've seen Ren show parts of Charlie Chaplins "the great dictator speech" in his video of money game 2, that video used to tear me up in my younger activism days. I believe that crying is a natural and healthy way to release emotions and can be a part of the healing process. There is no timeline for healing, and everyone's journey is different, so don't worry if you're still crying. It's okay to be vulnerable and allow yourself to feel your emotions. It sounds like you're taking care of yourself and doing it right. Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely check out Ren's video of "Money Game 2". Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator Speech" has brought me to tears and excitement so many times. There were times when I would listen to that speech 10 times in a row! Though alone is my preferred crying space lol. Yes isnt that speech just awesome. We put up a big LED screen at one of our protest events and I insisted we play that video on it. So cool to almost recreate the large audience though it was largely preaching to the converted I guess. Thanks also for all your work. I believe that crying is a natural and healthy way to release emotions and can be a part of the healing process. There is no timeline for healing, and everyone's journey is different, so don't worry if you're still crying. It's okay to be vulnerable and allow yourself to feel your emotions. It sounds like you're taking care of yourself and doing it right. Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely check out Ren's video of "Money Game 2". Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator Speech" has brought me to tears and excitement so many times. There were times when I would listen to that speech 10 times in a row! Yes isnt that speech just awesome. We put up a big LED screen at one of our protest events and I insisted we play that video on it. So cool to almost recreate the large audience though it was largely preaching to the converted I guess.
