Libation author here. Thank you so much for your kind review :D I'm incredibly flattered that you included Libation in your channel. This is really surreal to actually watch a stranger using my software. Of course I know this is what happens with every user but I don't witness it. Thank you again!
I don't think that's actually the author, but my network monitor said it basically only uploaded a few kb to authenticate, all other traffic was download. Your books are your own. Unless you share them
Many thanks, sir! I liberated my small-ish audiobook library from Audible using the software and steps you detailed here. You saved me countless hours of research and fumbling through the process.
Thanks for this! I love my audiobooks but fed up with large companies like Amazon, removing content I purchased!! I was confused how to set up libation but this was very helpful!
As far as I know there's nothing quite this easy. I'm only slightly into eBooks so I'm not sure. There is a self hosted app like audiobookshelf called Kavita for ebooks and comic books. and I know using the kindle pc app and a program called Calibre you can backup the books and strip drm. Ill add this to my notebook and make a video on the subject someday. Hope this helps :)
Hello I did the audiobookshelf setup similar to you. How do i access it on my mobile? I have an app and it asks to enter a Http link but the url, the local host url you have in your video, similar to mine, It is not working. Any suggestions?
If your on your wifi or a vpn to your network it will be IPOFABS if you want to access the library externally, youll have to either port forward in your router or setup a reverse proxy. I use cloudflare to proxy my internal services along with multiple vpns into my network just in case
Thank the Internet for this vid. Been using it for a bit but it wasn't obvious how you add a file to be downloaded. Clicking the traffic light next to a book! Would be nice if the creator made that more obvious. Other than that, great software.
So do I own audiobooks or does it still need to be used by another program? Like can I use the audiobook as an MP3 on my computer or does it still need to go through an app?
Libation is downloading and stripping the drm, you could open the files in VLC or plex even (plex has a remember track progress setting if you set the library up as music) or you can use audio bookshelf like in the video to host your own version of audible
Great video thank you I have a question. I wanted to do this so that I could listen to my audiobooks on my fiio portable digital audio player along with all my music which I have copied from CD. I have the Fiio M15s. It does not seem to be able to read the m4b files, so I converted all the audiobooks within libation into MP3 files which are visible on the Dap. However there is now no chapter control and this is really not a great experience can you advise me how I can get that back or how I can get the dap to read the m4b files. Anyone else reading this or even the libation author if you are reading this please let me know. Libation is awesome and I am definitely considering making a donation as I am thrilled to have liberated my books from audible
Your hitting a limitation of the codec. Mp3 doesn't natively support chapters to my knowledge and if your mp3 player doesn't allow you to remember progress you won't be able to do what your trying. Sorry about that

Good question, while i dont know the developer personally the source code is open and thousands of people have used and modified the software. Obviously anything can happen in the tech world but id say its as safe as it can be. I feel far more comfortable giving libation my audible / Amazon details then I do giving plaid my bank details lol
Hi. Thank you. I am using Libation. It works great. Please, I have a question. How can I "refresh" my library in Libation? I mean, I had 18 audiobooks is my Audible library. I connected it to Libation. One a second thought, I removed 5 from the Audible library AND from the Libation "queue - library" before converting 13 of them . All well up to this point. BUT now, even though I have reselected those 5 books into my Audible library, when i do "import - scan library" on the Libation menu, nothing happens. Is there a way to reconnect them? , Thank you.
Really? I wonder if the devs will find a workaround. You still have the website you can stream from but i know its not as good as the app atleast on Android. Maybe apple will approve their app store appeal?
You can actually get abs on ios you just ha e to go through beta flight but if you want a quick and dirty method set up a new music library in Plex and under the advanced settings there's a setting you can check to remember playback progress which will keep your playback progress in the book you won't get anything like bookmarks or anything fancy like that and unless you have metadata local plexus and super good at metadata for books but it isn't working quick and dirty method it's what I used to do before I found audio bookshelf
It worked very well, thanks, but one book failed to convert, repeatedly, with no explanation. Any ideas about that? Fifty some odd other audible books in my Amazon account were processed fine in Libation except for three that had disappeared ("borrowed"?). Can I get the books to play on my Kobo device? I haven't found any information about doing that.

I've never had an issue with any titles not working. as for the Kobo question I'm not sure, I have a boox tablet in house rn for testing but I've never used one of the kobos, you'd have to look into that on the GitHub. if the kobo can install android apps or at least play the converted files, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
