I’m not gonna lie… I feel like we have SO MUCH more to see at these electronics malls. Next time I’ll bring a local tour guide to show us around, do you want to see a part two to this video??? 🧐
Definitely would love to see more.. the history behind those stores is fascinating as well, they arent necessarily "fakes" its people taking designs and concepts and adding there on personal touches and tweakes to it.. like you can get a phone that looks exactly like and iphone but has a spot for an SD card for extra storage, or you can get an "iphone" with a regular android charging port, or 3 sim card slots.. its amazing
Just spent two weeks in Shanghai. There’s such a stark contrast experiencing the country and its people for yourself compared to the perception most of us have from the western media narrative we are fed.
I was in villages outside of Beijing and "poor" and "suppressed" regions like Xinjiang and oh boy... do we get fooled big time by western media and western "academia" (so called western "China-Experts" haha). Not just economy wise, but about EVERYTHING. That said, I can highly recommend visiting villages in China and even the most lied about regions such as Xinjiang. China is full of hidden gems, stories of massive progress, beauty and harmony. Fk western media for fooling us.
Let’s be honest here. You’re not a western citizen. You’re a chinese man pretending to be from “the west” to push a “chinese” narrative. Look man most people are watching this to see the electronics because they are interested. Why do you guys have to bring politics in every single one of these chinese videos. I dont care if you dislike the west and china number 1 and all that. Neither does most people in watching the video
Wrote a long comment thst dissapeared... but ill summarize ithere and say that its usually the govt that sucks. People are almost universally cool. Its govt vs govt or govt vs ppl in wars.
love the videos Jake! Thank you for sharing your life in China it has opened my eyes so so much and now I am planning to go to college in China. Keep up the good work dude!!
Watch serpentza, laowhy86 and china uncensored video's first before moving to/supporting bad dictator country. Most chinese and westerner doesn't even know what happen in tiananmen square in 1989. What a sad world to live in. China is also dangerous for foreigner since the ccp spread hate speech against foreigners. If you didn't heard about the stabbing of foreigners which the ccp tried to hide it and remove the video of it, then you should search it. You probably can only find one on youtube, because other videos are removed by the ccp. That's why the channel above I mentioned those are the foreigners who lived in china and speak china and the ccp banned them because they speak bad about china.
Talented pianoist. Huge W. Wow man, happy to watch your content, so wholesome. Camera quality is good man. City is bustling and thriving it seems. Haven't been back home in many years.
Some of them are hobby shops, yes. But most are mostly for wholesale. They will sell to individuals to fill time and build goodwill, but are really there to supply other businesses. Just be aware that there are a ton of small electronics businesses in Shenzhen and China in general (as well as lots of foreigners coming to buy). The line between hobbyist and small business is often blurry. Also note that there are lots of different shops there. Shops offering higher level services will use the parts from smaller shops.
I wish that stranger parts guy knew Mandarin like Jake here, this is a mecca for electronics nerds. Anybody wants to start an alternate electronics store that is way cheaper and as reliable as any of the established brands, would have to sift through these to find quality suppliers.
I really really liked this video, it was super interesting to see all of these massive places in the city for niche products. I thought all the products would be super untrustworthy and unsafe but after watching the video and you explaining them, I think some might be okay to use depending on what they are lol. I am looking forward to the next China vlog to see and learn more of it since youre pretty unbiased!
The last place where burger king was, is a wholesale snack market. Great place to get international snacks you wouldn't normally find at the local supermarket.
Video & audio is good in daylight however after 12:56 when the sky is dark it looks like you are in front of a greenscreen in selfie and when you are pointing with your arm out in front it looks like FPS game. Still looks good though. You and your friends' streams and videos are great at showing how much more is out there.
Seeing that these videos only get 20k views but someone that doesn't stream on twitch with no where near the quality content is getting millions of views is crazy.. I never even see your shorts on my feed
I tried to visit the electronics stores in guangzhou during my long layovers (both ways) but both times they were closed, first because of CNY, the second Google and baidu bot said they were open but they were closing the shutters and turning off lights as I got there
Great video Jake! Really puts it to scale the market style in America, 😅 nothing as extravagant as china's shenzen electronic emporium! Thanks bro, best to you God bless
3:49 Looks like a bunch of random surface mount (SMD) transistors (at least the SOT23, SOT89, TO92) and assortment of Integrated Circuit (IC) packaging formats to me. Can't read chinese because I'm too whitewashed but I'm guessing they're a wholesaler and maybe will work with you to design your own custom ICs. Seems geared towards corporations, university teams and hobbyists that are looking to make their own custom electronics.
the ABC song! yes, the way that the lady sings is the exact way most Chinese learned when we were in school! but when my daughter who is born in Australia learned her Australian way of saying ABC, I was shocked like you too.
That blind pianist and the graffiti on wall which marks "WE ALL LOVE SHENZHEN" got me real homesick since I have been in the UK as an international student for nearly a year without returning to China once..
Haven't been there for a while. the last time I was there, a lot shops went down suffering the impact of covid lockdown meanwhile some electronic shops surviving the pandemic transferred to sell imported snacks or cosmetics.
Chinese alphabet song blew my mind! That one guy.. that one time.. that brought that song over to China... forgot, improvosed and failed his nation and people 😂😂
I found camera quality not so great. especially near the end where you asked about it. It feels like the frame rate is low, it's not smooth. Despite streaming 4k@60fps.
I’m not gonna lie… I feel like we have SO MUCH more to see at these electronics malls. Next time I’ll bring a local tour guide to show us around, do you want to see a part two to this video??? 🧐
Ask your girlfriend to take you to Xichong Beach(西冲海滩) in Shenzhen for vacation. It is a must-see attraction in Shenzhen.
all those electronic goodies, board level. Used with Arduino's, Raspberry PI and other hobby-prototyping gadgets.
Definitely would love to see more.. the history behind those stores is fascinating as well, they arent necessarily "fakes" its people taking designs and concepts and adding there on personal touches and tweakes to it.. like you can get a phone that looks exactly like and iphone but has a spot for an SD card for extra storage, or you can get an "iphone" with a regular android charging port, or 3 sim card slots.. its amazing
yes please
Hell yeah
Just spent two weeks in Shanghai. There’s such a stark contrast experiencing the country and its people for yourself compared to the perception most of us have from the western media narrative we are fed.
I guess speaking Mandarin now is a commodity. Crazy how China has exploded throughout the decade. Though there still many knockoffs too. 😂
I was in villages outside of Beijing and "poor" and "suppressed" regions like Xinjiang and oh boy... do we get fooled big time by western media and western "academia" (so called western "China-Experts" haha). Was it futuristic aswell?
Wrote a long comment thst dissapeared... but ill summarize ithere and say that its usually the govt that sucks. People are almost universally cool. Its govt vs govt or govt vs ppl in wars.
Love you Jake! Somehow you've managed to remain authentic and uncorrupted after many years of streaming - a rare breed!

For real
It amazes me that these shops sell enough small electronic components to stay open. Are they seen as hobby shops in China?
Some of them are hobby shops, yes. But most are mostly for wholesale. They will sell to individuals to fill time and build goodwill, but are really there to supply other businesses.

Most of the shops They probably won’t sell you just a few pieces cuz they are too lazy to deal with it or they will sell you with a high price
I wish that stranger parts guy knew Mandarin like Jake here, this is a mecca for electronics nerds.

I will be visiting Shenzhen in July. This place looks amazing.
I really really liked this video, it was super interesting to see all of these massive places in the city for niche products. The video quality and Audio are both really good.
Noted!
Keep it up jake and wawa. The content is interesting and fun. Plz visit the rural parts too, I've heard they are so brilliant.
Great video and I'm excited to see part 2! ❤ Super cool to see YT specific content rather than uploads/cuts of livestreams.
OG content. Damn China is a powerhouse.
First person that came to mind is Strange Parts. dude literally made an iPhone from the parts sold in Shenzen he’s great
Are there any live streams from Shenzhen ? Or did he only do a YT vlog ?
A/V is great, keep using it. Always watch your live streams but loved the vlog!

stop overthinking. you are really entertaining. A/V is good here.
You still in Shenzhen? Come down to HK and let's do a video!
Jake the ABC's need to be investigated, that was wild because the melody was there and then all of the sudden just... weird
Yah we gotta get to the bottom of that…
Yes, Part 2 plz.
Also, the new camera is much more stable and less dizziness for me.
Banger video as always ❤
its nice to see the people have an outlet even now that allows them to buy at affordable prices
been waiting for this one!
Nicely done Jake! Well done
Longer vids please!! Quality and audio is solid!
Looking forward to part 2
This was so awesome! Loved every minute of this video
Seeing that these videos only get 20k views but someone that doesn't stream on twitch with no where near the quality content is getting millions of views is crazy.. I never even see your shorts on my feed

That bombastic side eye like "wat dat fack gwalow"
It's been 24 years, and I realize our ABC song is wrong. I got the same face with that kid
That sideeye was GODLIKE
The camera looks amazing

Great video Jake! Really puts it to scale the market style in America, 😅 nothing as extravagant as china's shenzen electronic emporium! Thanks bro, best to you God bless

No, really. I’ll be in Shenzhen by the end of October. Let me know if you wanna do this :)
the ABC song! yes, the way that the lady sings is the exact way most Chinese learned when we were in school! but when my daughter who is born in Australia learned her Australian way of saying ABC, I was shocked like you too.
Awesome content man 👍🏻👌🏻
That blind pianist and the graffiti on wall which marks "WE ALL LOVE SHENZHEN" got me real homesick since I have been in the UK as an international student for nearly a year without returning to China once..
Thanks for making a video about an electronics market where you basically showed no electronic products! Great job dude!
He streaming from DJI ?
My cheap earplugs come somewhere from there 🤣🤣🤣 I've been buying them in bulk for 10 years

@11:00, she's too cute! It's funny that she straight up asked you guys, "Why are you live streaming..?".
Haven't been there for a while. the last time I was there, a lot shops went down suffering the impact of covid lockdown meanwhile some electronic shops surviving the pandemic transferred to sell imported snacks or cosmetics.
i miss the livestreams bro
Whats the song at 7:07 called?
warrior of the darkness by eason chan
If a blind man can play a piano so masterful then theres no excuse for anyone to say "i cant" . Lessons in life
I used to go here all the time when I lived in Hong Kong!
waiting for part 2, insider edition
How do they all stay in business?
I was there last month😄 honestly the market is so massive!!!
new camera makes your eyes deep blue ^^

I found camera quality not so great. especially near the end where you asked about it. It feels like the frame rate is low, it's not smooth. Despite streaming 4k@60fps.
