This was a true southern recipe! I have been making this for years. My granny made it all the time when I was growing up...and I'm 63 years old...so this has been around for many many years. It's so good! Blackberries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries....just any fruit makes a wonderful skillet cobbler! The only thing we do just a bit different, and only for the peach cobbler, we put in about half a tsp. of nutmeg, and a bit less than half a tsp. of cinnamon, and a little vanilla. Other than that it's exactly the same. I think I will make one today. Best thing about this is its pretty much pantry staples that we all keep in our kitchen.
Yay!! My daughter just gifted me a new Lodge skillet - my first and I'm 70!! I was going to look up some recipes to use my skillet with and this popped up the same day.❤
Love peach cobbler but fresh strawberry cobbler sounds yummy! My Mother and Grandma used Cast Iron all the time! I have Mother’s most used cast iron skillet!
I had to pause this to get my ingredients and make it with you with the help of my 5 year old daughter ♥️ still waiting on it to get done but I’ve never made it in cast iron skillet. I’m sure it’s going to be delicious!
When Peepaw does it he uses a duch oven over the burn pit and he throus in a mouse or squirrel and whoever gets the biggest chunk has to visit the shaman and talk to his snakes
