Spurs were often thumped by other teams because their defence was so woeful. Managers came and went, but one thing never changed was the lack of decent defenders! This game perfectly summed the chronically poor defending. The fortunes of Spurs were not to change until Martin Jol arrived on the scene ten years later.
I was at quite a few matches of this season. It was disappointing. But Klinsmann was a joy to watch
