Yessss! The Black Prism is such a good series. The good thing about it as a chunky series is that it is complete! You can read them without waiting for a new book!
Thank you for pronouncing Raisa correctly :) My name is spelled differently but... same pronunciation. Makes me smile every time someone gets it right. I bought Demon King specifically because of Raisa but I've never gotten around to reading it. One day... one day... I love the Lightbringer series. One of my favorites though book 3 goes in a VERY different direction from the rest of the series. i've only read Way of Shadows but it's also very very good. I think you'll like it.
The fact that you ended the video by stating that you didn't want to go into the second half of 2024 starting a whole new series is personally hilarious to me... because I just started The Realm of the Elderlings and have immediately realized that both my wallet and bookshelves are in trouble. I already have a big TBR pile that I was doing really well making progress on, but all my brain wants is Robin Hobb's world now. 🐎
🎠Godamnit at the start of this video I thought I was safe... none of these were anything I was even vaguely interested in.... until you started talking about the first chapter of black prism 😑😑 (I'm ignoring the existence of other Hobb books until our RotE readalong is done 😂)
I remembered DNFing Magician's Guild and actually had to check my goodreads for The Novice as the cover looked so familiar. Turned out I read it in 2017, rated it 2 stars, and hated the writing :D
The Black Prism is a book I have heard a lot of negative opinions about and I can wait for your review. I trust you completely in the area of fantasy and I hope it is as good as the first chapter :)
Trudi Canavan has written books in a different world: the Age of Five trilogy. It’s my favourite of hers. It is heartbreaking in parts though, so be warned. The Black Magician does get a lot better than that first chapter. Sonea doesn’t get scooped up into that school all that easily. She doesn’t want to go and you meet some great characters while she is trying to hide from the magicians.
🦔🦒🦛🦞🦑🐙 Made it to the end. But couldn’t find the horse. So, I left a selection of interesting creatures. 🐷🐘🐿And pumpkins cause in the PNW pumpkin spice season arrived and I’m happy 🎃🍁🎃🎃🎃
🐎 I DNF’d Shaman’s crossing, and thought it meant Robin Hobb wasn’t for me. But as you’ve said the fitz books are better, I’m going to try the first one. So thanks for that.
Oh I saw Feed behind you. It’s not fantasy but I love that series. I also love the Demon King series. That series is YA too. I’ve met the author. She’s a lovely person.
I read the Magician's guild in 2006 and was hooked, loved it. I don't want to write that out, but thats almost 20 years ago?? 😱 Not sure how I would feel about the book now
🐴🐎🎠 Loving the video’s you are cracking out at Becca’s, love your video’s anyway so hoorah for that one. If someone were to gift you Black Prism that might be a way round it as no purchase was made by your lovely self. May have to check out a few wish lists and see what I can do…
I love the idea of hanging out in a friends library and reading their books! I'm sad that The Novice isn't your jam because I DEVOURED that series last year after having them sit on my shelves for years. It does expand into a much wider world with elves and dwarves and lots of societal drama and adventures in alternate dimensions. It was a fun time. Matharu did have an adult fantasy debut this year that I'm excited to check out as well. I'm glad you found some things to interest you! I'm also excited to see what other videos you pull out of Becca's library! 🐎🐎
And Trudi Canavan....ugh, so disappointing as well. I read the first 2 books in the yhe Magician's Guild series and...she is a bitter one. And also, other issues with the storyline. Trued her other series, and didn't continue it.
Black prism is one of the worst books I wasted 3 hours of my life reading half of it, brent weeks is a sexist fat-phobic author and it got worse as the book went on 😂
"PUPPY" - I yell to myself, alone in my apartment. I am easily pleased.
Same.
Same!
I'm on staycation and I have binge-watched so many of your videos that my inner monologue now has a Scottish accent 🖤

🐎🐎 I am anxiously awaiting to see The Black Prisim in your next book haul 😂
Love Becca’s vlogs! This'll be fun!
Girl. You match the sofa, in a delightful way. Score. 😊 🐎
How fun that you get to be in her space! I'd totally want to look at all the books!❤

What a great video to film with access to someone else’s books.
Such a fun video!! 🐎

I need another high fantasy long series on my tbr like I need well nothing I really do not need to add things to my tbr but here we are.. 🎠
Super interested to see what you think of Shaman's Crossing and if you decide to continue the series 👀👀

I've read The Black Prism, but I still haven't picked up the second book.
I probably will, eventually, but I was a bit more meh on it by the end.
🐎🐎🐎I have the Soldier's Son trilogy
I read it when it was released & all I remember is that I loved it & it IS very different to FitzntheFool💛🧡💛
I didn't know Robin Hobb has books under another name! 🐎
