- I test out kitchen gadgets for lemons. They're supposed to make life easier, but are they actually genius or a waste of time? I try a lemon juicer and spray bottle, a lemon zester and a storage pod to keep the fruit fresh.

Love the juicer sprayer combination. I can zest with much smaller results with my mini grater. Wouldn"t call it junk, just not as efficient. Like the lemon dome, but don't use lemons enough to warrant buying it. And I have always rolled my lemons as you do to get them juicy. Love that skewer idea to keep the lemon whole and still use it. Great video. Keep them coming Dave.

I love food huggers for leftover halved fruits and vegetables. they come in a pack of multiple sizes. i use them for cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, lemons and limes, eggplant.. anything with a circular surface after being cut. not big enough for a melon. i use silicon stretch lids for those.
I bought the juicer sprayer combo about 5-6 years ago and I've loved it! It's continued to work really well and I just put it in the dishwasher to clean it:-)
a nice pepper spray to "calm down" rioters
You can use it for small oranges too, To spray it on your favorite dishes, or any other citrusy fruits

Citric acid irritates eyes, so you could use lemon juice as a defence mechanism

I bought the first one, the juicer/spray bottle about 5-6 yrs ago and I've loved it! It has continued to work really well and I just put it in the dishwasher to clean it 😊🍋
Lemons do not need to be refrigerated, so after I use half a lemon I leave it cut side down in a ramekin. Enjoy your videos Dave.

I think with the spray pump that goes right in the lemon, you're supposed to roll the lemon around on the counter first to break up the insides, like you did when you used the skewer. I feel like maybe you even did that when you tested the same gadge before. The "poke a hole in the lemon" method works, but if you rolled the lemon first, then put in the sprayer, it would let you spray it instead of drizzling it. And you could cover it and preserve the remaning lemon/juice more easily.
No because screwing in the pump should break it up

Rolling it won’t help..For some reason putting a pump in a lemon just doesn’t work as well, I’ve seen similar ones and it’s just more easier and more useful (and causes less juice waste) to squeeze the juice out into a sprayer!

@07:30 life hack: keep lemons from drying out by coating the exposed bit in salt (coarse is better). You can then just wash off the salt (or use it too) and you’re good to go 👍🏼

I think the size of the zest really just comes down to what recipe using it for, so it'd be a lot nicer to have some way to adjust the size on the gadget

You actually made a video on the lemon screw in sprayer and it worked really well on that video 5 YEARS AGO
tie size of the zest depends on the application tbh
as for how we store lemons when we are finished with the partial one we cut, we just put them in a zip lock baggie and take out all the air, does the trick really well
I love the first 2 items, the sprayer and the zester. The zest was fine for me and a lot easier than using a grater. As far as the storage thing, I have silicon "caps" in different sizes and can be used for all types/sizes fruits and veggies. Love your reviews, thanks!

If you use a lot of greated lemon zest, get a microplane greater
Clearcut make them, but l'm sure other companies do too
It's what professional cooks use to zest lemons/oranges/limes,and is both easy to use and gives you fine zest
They are also great for greating :)) garlic for curries and whole nutmegs

4:00 - If the holes are small you'll get nicely cut zest, but you also loose a lot of it because there is no way to get all of it from the side of the grater you've shown.

I guess we don't beed that last lemon gadget but it does look nicer to use that than to just leave the lemon in the refrigerator. So I'll say yes for the aesthetic it brings at least (but yeah one can argue that it's a waste of plastic).

The larger zest pieces actually have a purpose. While smaller zest with traditional lemon zesting tools or the small side of a cheese grader does get you smaller pieces, usually these are used for flavor in lemony dishes. Whereas the larger ones you get from this zester are meant to garnish the tops of dishes and deserts. Kind of a way to make them look fancy. This can also be done with both limes and oranges. Thought you might like to know.
Though the tip that makes the longer strands does come in handy. Just depends on preference I guess.
I think the only one of these that is useful in any way is the first one. The combo juicer and spray is nice and that it comes with a mini filter is also a nice touch.

That screw in sprayer works great for me, had it for years now, also there is a bit different nozzle that works better than one in a video. Also you cut that lemon too much, so it leaks.

That zester seems a bit naff honestly. All of them have minor flaws. I would imagine the filter on that first sprayer would get clogged pretty quickly. The life hack is great! I liked that one
You could use the palm zester on other vegetables like carrots for a carrot cake.

At 6:54, just use Suran Wrap. As for the lemon screw sprayer it seems like you either got a dud item with a defective spray peice, or it clogs up. If it clogs up I would just try to add a filter into the bottom of the tube like the first lemon spayer.
