I think the reason John Wick does not fit is because even when John kills a lot of people, a majority if not the entirety of his kills are cleaner than any MK character. John does not dismember or torture people - he tussles sometimes, gets a clean shot with a gun, or sticks a pencil in someone's eye, and then moves until he encounters his next target. He does not abhorrently maim his enemies, unlike Punisher hanging one of his targets on a meathook for them to bleed to death.
A large problem with MK characters is that they kill for the sake of torture really which kinda hurts their personality and just turns them into function characters. I want an MK where not all finishers are fatalities but rather one that just beats up the opponent. That way, we could get Ryu or pretty much every character. In the state MK is right now, in the future the guest spots will eventually run dry.

I think The Mask would be a phenomenal addition to the roster and I would love to see a character with toon force on the roster and see the wacky combos they’ve make for him and also the comics unlike the movies are actually quite violent and do not shy away from blood or gore and killing
My personal ideal guest is definitely Vergil from Devil May Cry. DMC5 and MK1 are two of the most visually impressive games in their genres, the composer of Bury the Light worked on the soundtrack for MK1, Vergil’s lore and power set fit super well into the MK universe, and between weapon switching, devil Trigger, and concentration, he’s got potential to be the most technical and hype characters on the roster. The banter between him and Bi-Han would be PERFECT.
My only thing with DMC characters is that they only really work visually in games with lots of aerial play like obviously MvC or anime fighters. Having Vergil stay grounded is a little weird considering most of DMC is air combos and teleporting lmao

But if that’s just too big a dealbreaker, I’ll say Travis Touchdown. His comedy would fit well with the MK cast, he’d have a really fun combination of swordplay and Mexican wrestling, and at least in NMH 1 & 2, he’s much closer to on par with the MK cast.
I think Art from the terrifier would be a pretty cool choice given the mysterious nature of his power and love of dismemberment wouldn’t be hard to get licensing too they don’t even need a voice actor

Guts from Berserk would be a perfect addition to mk imo: Grappler who uses the sword like Kotal from mk11, crossbow with EX being the gun (maybe a popup). Fatality involving the God hand and another with the berserker armour
I overall agree with your ranking for pennywise as his main form of interaction is phycological, he gets into people's heads. However, in it 2017 in the last fight, he does act physically fight the kids, turning his arms into giant spider like appendages and such

Add an Atreus kameo in with him, his gear could be his axe or his blades (maybe as a pair), there's plenty of outfit ideas from the games themselves, and he's brutal enough and is a very experienced kombatant. Idk if repeats are even in the cards but I would love to see Kratos

Any Valve character would be great. Coach from Left 4 Dead 2 or Gordon Freeman would be amazing picks, though I could see Chell or any TF2 character going in too.
Someone from Dead by daylight would not only be cool in terms of characters, but can be a bridge for NRS to obtain licenses like Michael Myers, Resident Evil, and other horror characters, it's mainly a personal want, but DBD in MK would be cool (and maybe we could get a MK chapter in DBD as well).

A kinda obscure pick I’d like to see is Vecna from Stranger Things. I imagine he could have his telekinesis, his vines, his ability to put people into a trance, and open portals to the upside down to have demogorons and demo dogs assist. I think it could be cool. Unlikely, but cool.
I 100% agree with wesker because like you said about popularity especially considering his fate in the r e franchise is currently unknown because there’s a lot of evidence to say he’s still around but a lot to say otherwise but I would argue that Derek Simmons from resident evil 6 is a better fit because he has more potential with combos than wesker because of his c virus mutation which allows him to morph his body matter into anything but both are good fit
As a Riot follower, there is a dent in bringing in Jinx into the mix: Riot is already making their own fighting game and it'll be a little bit awkward to include her at the same time as her appearance in Project L. HOWEVER: It goes without saying that it isn't impossible to have another league rep be in MK1, hypothetically... yet, it's a toss up of who could realistically be in and who won't. Take for example, one of my favorite characters that actually would better fit in the setting: Jhin. He's got everything covered of what you'd want in a MK character and a little bit more. He's a serial killer, comes from a eastern-inspired Land, has fucking guns and gadgets like crazy, has a very charming personality, fatalities/brutalities can actually instead cause flowers and trees to grow out of the opponent instead of blood and gore (because murder is beautiful, apparently) and even brings fourth a possibly unique mechanic that relates to a certain number he obsesses over. Hell, he even had a history with using a Rapier at one point! Point being, its still a toss-up. I personally argue at best that with the existence of Project L, Jinx might bump down to ":/". (Fun fact: Apparently Riot is reworking lore to have everything they release in terms of media outside of skinlines to be canon, so... Apparently, Arcane is going to become canon and intertwined with the game lore.)
Postal Dude would be a cool idea. But with the direction that MK 1 is taking with the guest characters? Not likely. But oh so sweet to imagine take place. “I regret nothing.”
My joke pick would be Monika/Yuri from DDLC, that game doesn't shy away from unaliving someone so it is appropriate. Also the 4th wall break element would be really nice from Monika. My serious pick would be Raiden (the MGR version): has the same name as the other Raiden so it's cool (both has lightning, but this Raiden has lightning for effect only). I guess the only problem is that he would be a bit similar to Kenshi, but Raiden has multiple weapons at his disposal (Mistral's staff, Monsoon's parry sai, Sundowner's scissor blade) and the finisher could be MG Rex or Excelsus or he could just chop up the kombatants with zandatsu. He's appropriate, doesn't shy away from dismemberment, and really possible with a lot of movesets.
Marcus Fenix from the Gears of War franchise would be great. Understandably he’s more of a shooter than brawler, but the gore and intensity will be there. The lancer as a mid/far attack, the chainsaw attachment for grab move, and the Gnasher for close range. His fatalities would be the hammer of dawn strike and riding in on a corpser/brumak. Plus his interactions with Mileena and Baraka would be great.
It would’ve been so funny if each time Deadpool gets a fatality he gets dismembered and whatnot and all of a sudden a “Im still here” comes from his head
As a HUGE MK and The Walking Dead fan, I'd pay my Ps5's price again just to get Negan in Mortal Kombat. His humour, brutality, psychopathic behaviour, everything, plus the fact that he's been in a fight game already, all work in his favor.
A really big stretch but an addition i would love to see is Hunk from RE: raccoon city, he is a badass person and has no problem killing both people and undead, he also can make a good moveset with guns being his long range and his cqc as his close range
Personally i would have gone for a different vin desile role, riddik. It’s brutal, violent and would fit quite well. Only real issue is that there hasn’t been a riddik movie in fucking years Edit: it has just come to my attention that a new riddick movie was announced some months ago, so the problem if it not having had a recent installment is now moot
For pennywise I’d make him use his spider form for his attacks like his arm or leg turns into a sharp spider leg his special moves could be his balloon that pops and has different effects and he could use the dead lights to hypnotize/debilitate his opponents

It might be due to recency bias since I finally crossed it off of my to read list but I feel like Eric Draven or The Crow would be an absolutely fantastic pick especially after they brought on Spawn, my personal dream pick for a dlc character
I once got a question on who I would add for Mortal Kombat, and my 3 choices were Punisher, Santa Claus, and O'saa, from Marvel, Chainsaw Man, and Fear & Hunger 2: Termina, respectively. (I didn't talk about any character already confirmed or rumored, such as Doom Slayer) I'm not the biggest fan of the Punisher, but he's an excellent fit with a massive cult following, although I would have chosen a symbiote over him in hindsight for a myriad of small reasons. I chose Santa Claus over Chainsaw Man because her fatalities would likely be more bizarre, but I feel that choosing a Fear & Hunger character already does that, and she just isn't as iconic as Denji himself. Although saying that Santa's in Mortal Kombat would be hilarious. I'm not replacing my desire for O'saa in Mortal Kombat. Using the power of eldritch gods of unspeakable horrors would make for some really great fatalities. Nothing is as brutal as blowing up people's limbs and getting them to VOLUNTARILY stop breathing. And it'd be similarly brutal for someone's face to get turned into a Francis Bacon self-portrait. I think my fourth option would be Nidus, from Warframe. Garuda is the obvious choice, since she's the blood Warframe, but the Infestation is some of the most gruesome body horror out there and Nidus's abilities would lend themselves nicely to both interesting gameplay and good fatalities. My new 3 choices would be Chainsaw Man, Nidus, and O'saa, with Venom as an honorable mention (solely because I don't like him as much)
I want Mario n Luigi in Mortal Kombat. Ngl, I would love it if they put a rated E character into mortal kombat one day. Seeing them get destroyed and vice versa would be a sight to see

Yes, Deadpool is also owned by fox, but those are just the rights to his on screen appearances. So sadly, there will never be a marvel character in MK. One could dream though..
Reckon theres quite a few characters in DbD that would fit well into mk. I'm especially thinking Trapper, Wraith, Doctor and Knight as they all are (1) big and menacing (2) specialise in hand to hand kombat and (3) have a lot of potential for fatalities, ewpecially since they already have their own mori animations.
I think Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen would be great in Mortal Kombat. Due to his Idle Transfiguration he would have an extremely fun gameplay and I would love if for his fatalities instead of killing the opponent he would turn them info transfigured humans

Someone from Dead by daylight would not only be cool in terms of characters, but can be a bridge for NRS to obtain licenses like Michael Myers, Resident Evil, and other horror characters, it's mainly a personal want, but DBD in MK would be cool (and maybe we could get a MK chapter in DBD as well).
Ok ok now hear me out I think The Mask would be an amazing addition to the MK roster if you’ve read or seen some of the comics they are actually very violent and bloody and have a lot of wacky and crazy deaths and it would be really interesting to see a character with toon force in the MK and the wacky combos and fatalities they could come up with and if they got Jim Carrey to voice him it would be just perfect and his different customers could be things he wore in the movies or different skins from the comics of characters in the comics who’ve worn the mask
A kinda obscure pick I’d like to see is Vecna from Stranger Things. I imagine he could have his telekinesis, his vines, his ability to put people into a trance, and open portals to the upside down to have demogorons and demo dogs assist. I think it could be cool. Unlikely, but cool.
I would recommend Lich King, CJ from GTA SA, Master Chief, Let Me Solo Her, Lady D and Leon Kenedy!
I 100% agree with wesker because like you said about popularity especially considering his fate in the r e franchise is currently unknown because there’s a lot of evidence to say he’s still around but a lot to say otherwise but I would argue that Derek Simmons from resident evil 6 is a better fit because he has more potential with combos than wesker because of his c virus mutation which allows him to morph his body matter into anything but both are good fit

As a Riot follower, there is a dent in bringing in Jinx into the mix: Riot is already making their own fighting game and it'll be a little bit awkward to include her at the same time as her appearance in Project L.
HOWEVER: It goes without saying that it isn't impossible to have another league rep be in MK1, hypothetically... yet, it's a toss up of who could realistically be in and who won't. Take for example, one of my favorite characters that actually would better fit in the setting: Jhin.
He's got everything covered of what you'd want in a MK character and a little bit more. He's a serial killer, comes from a eastern-inspired Land, has fucking guns and gadgets like crazy, has a very charming personality, fatalities/brutalities can actually instead cause flowers and trees to grow out of the opponent instead of blood and gore (because murder is beautiful, apparently) and even brings fourth a possibly unique mechanic that relates to a certain number he obsesses over. Hell, he even had a history with using a Rapier at one point!
Point being, its still a toss-up. I personally argue at best that with the existence of Project L, Jinx might bump down to ":/".
(Fun fact: Apparently Riot is reworking lore to have everything they release in terms of media outside of skinlines to be canon, so... Apparently, Arcane is going to become canon and intertwined with the game lore.)
Postal Dude would be a cool idea. But with the direction that MK 1 is taking with the guest characters? Not likely. But oh so sweet to imagine take place.

My joke pick would be Monika/Yuri from DDLC, that game doesn't shy away from unaliving someone so it is appropriate. Also the 4th wall break element would be really nice from Monika.
My serious pick would be Raiden (the MGR version): has the same name as the other Raiden so it's cool (both has lightning, but this Raiden has lightning for effect only). I guess the only problem is that he would be a bit similar to Kenshi, but Raiden has multiple weapons at his disposal (Mistral's staff, Monsoon's parry sai, Sundowner's scissor blade) and the finisher could be MG Rex or Excelsus
or he could just chop up the kombatants with zandatsu. He's appropriate, doesn't shy away from dismemberment, and really possible with a lot of movesets.
I feel like Krieg from borderlands could work pretty well
Marcus Fenix from the Gears of War franchise would be great. Understandably he’s more of a shooter than brawler, but the gore and intensity will be there. The lancer as a mid/far attack, the chainsaw attachment for grab move, and the Gnasher for close range. His fatalities would be the hammer of dawn strike and riding in on a corpser/brumak. Plus his interactions with Mileena and Baraka would be great.

As a HUGE MK and The Walking Dead fan, I'd pay my Ps5's price again just to get Negan in Mortal Kombat. His humour, brutality, psychopathic behaviour, everything, plus the fact that he's been in a fight game already, all work in his favor.
I would go with Revenant from Apex Legends. His introduction alone would make him a perfect fit for Kombat. His Scythe would be so awesome.
A really big stretch but an addition i would love to see is Hunk from RE: raccoon city, he is a badass person and has no problem killing both people and undead, he also can make a good moveset with guns being his long range and his cqc as his close range

Personally i would have gone for a different vin desile role, riddik. It’s brutal, violent and would fit quite well. Only real issue is that there hasn’t been a riddik movie in fucking years

For pennywise I’d make him use his spider form for his attacks like his arm or leg turns into a sharp spider leg his special moves could be his balloon that pops and has different effects and he could use the dead lights to hypnotize/debilitate his opponents

I once got a question on who I would add for Mortal Kombat, and my 3 choices were Punisher, Santa Claus, and O'saa, from Marvel, Chainsaw Man, and Fear & Hunger 2: Termina, respectively. (I didn't talk about any character already confirmed or rumored, such as Doom Slayer)
I'm not the biggest fan of the Punisher, but he's an excellent fit with a massive cult following, although I would have chosen a symbiote over him in hindsight for a myriad of small reasons.
I chose Santa Claus over Chainsaw Man because her fatalities would likely be more bizarre, but I feel that choosing a Fear & Hunger character already does that, and she just isn't as iconic as Denji himself. Although saying that Santa's in Mortal Kombat would be hilarious.
I'm not replacing my desire for O'saa in Mortal Kombat. Using the power of eldritch gods of unspeakable horrors would make for some really great fatalities. Nothing is as brutal as blowing up people's limbs and getting them to VOLUNTARILY stop breathing. And it'd be similarly brutal for someone's face to get turned into a Francis Bacon self-portrait.
I think my fourth option would be Nidus, from Warframe. Garuda is the obvious choice, since she's the blood Warframe, but the Infestation is some of the most gruesome body horror out there and Nidus's abilities would lend themselves nicely to both interesting gameplay and good fatalities.
My new 3 choices would be Chainsaw Man, Nidus, and O'saa, with Venom as an honorable mention (solely because I don't like him as much)

Even though it would be very cool to have someone like deadpool or the punisher in Mortal Kombat, js the fact that Netherream is owned by Warner Bros. meaning that would NEVER happen. Yes, Deadpool is also owned by fox, but those are just the rights to his on screen appearances. So sadly, there will never be a marvel character in MK. One could dream though..
