Wow! This beat is f-----g dope. Reassured me that it was a good decision to get the Octatrack. Just got one and slowly starting to realize what a crazy ninja weapon this is. Great work man!
Octatrack is the desert island instrument. Without even bringing samples, you could sample the noise floor of an empty input jack and between pitch shifting, granular synthesis, internal audio effects, and resampling you could orchestrate a whole album seeded from white noise
I got away from social media a little while and was really glad to find back your channel and see that you kept on being productive and even expanded your gear! It's not easy to stay consistent, good job
I think this comment is cursed. I've tried replying twice and both times my reply disappeared! :P Thank you very much, man! I'm so glad I've managed to stay in the groove this long. I'm taking care not to get burned out, and it really helps that I've gotten so much support and positive comments this whole time :)
Nice track Ivar, I always love your minor key melodies with that haunting piano sound. The Octatrack is quite a puzzle to say the least. I hope that maybe in another 2 years time that, I'll have the "Holy Trinity" somewhat mastered (Digitakt-Digitone-Octatrack) Lol
Thank you! I'm still trying to find a workflow on the OT that suits me. It's just not as fast and fluid as the Digitakt, but it can do a lot of things the Digitakt can't. I've barely even started exploring the DT/DN/OT trinity myself, there's too much stuff all at once :D
pretty nice ! broken piano soudns really nice :D you definitely have "your sound". When you are in some music playlist my youtube throws at me, i can recognize the drums and piano chops, and i'm like "oh yeah that's totally Ivar either on the DT or OT :))) "
Thanks! It's a short slice from a synth loop from a pack called Phandora's box that I applied a lot of bit reduction to on the Digitakt. There's a bit reduction on the Octatrack's lofi fx, but I think it has a slightly different character.
Thank you! I'm pressing func+cue to reload the part. This resets all the changes I've done so far. This lets me easily switch scene A from the LFO filter effect back to the default scene without any fx on it at the same time as I'm muting and unmuting stuff on the Digitakt.
I have to check how much new stuff I've made since my last album. Once I have more than 30 minutes of new music, I'll upload a new album! I think I'm close. Thanks for asking, man :D
You and Voltagectrlr are the masters of making good shit on the Octatrack. Did you sell yours? You seem to favor the A4 and DN these days. Would love to see your workflow with this machine.
Great track Ivar! Lots of really nice glitches and effects. Does the Octatrack feel like a step up from DT? Do you think you will try combining them in the future? I'm very tempted to try the Polyend Tracker as DT partner, just a shame it doesn't sample in stereo.
Thanks, Sabrehart! I think I'm getting better sounding results when using the OT, but that's for two main reasons: I'm using my DAW a lot more and sampling or copying loops made there into the OT, and I'm spending more time tweaking things on the OT than I do on the DT. This also means that I'm spending a lot more time just fine tuning stuff instead of creating stuff. I've only had the OT for about a month, but so far working with the OT isn't as fast and fun as working with the DT, but it *does* make me pay more attention to the mixing part of it. I've yet to explore using the OT as a mixer though! So far I've mostly used it like a DT with longer stereo samples and clunkier controls :P
I imagine the guys at Elektron scratching their heads and asking themselves how something like this is even possible on one of these monstrously complicated machines they created! 😂 I suppose it's like drawing the sword from the stone or something like that... 🤔
Best of your Octatrack jams to date dude! Loved those digital synth buzzes sitting under pianos. Vibes for days!
Thank you very much!
Awesome jam as always man! Love the Massive Attack vibes I get from your tracks. :)
Thank you very much, miles!
Yes! This is what the Octatrack has been designed for. Great piece of work man
Thank you very much!

Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Really awesome lo-fi track!
Thank you very much!

shatteredsquare that is a dope concept fr
Oh, damn. I can imagine you can do a *lot* with just white noise. Compressor, filter, spatializer, eq, resampling...
Those basses are killer!
Thank you! I'm very happy with the bass sound :)
Beautiful music, full of promise that only pensive thoughts can bring.
Thank you very much, man :)

I love it, great, Ivar! 👍
Thank you, Ivar :D
Great song man, sounds like you're getting a hang of that thing!
Thank you! I'm using it pretty much like a Digitakt at this point, hehe. I'm really looking forward to exploring different workflows :)
Very cool. Has a Middle Eastern feel.
Thanks a lot!
Diggin’ 🤙🏽
Thank you!
Lovely as always
Thank you!

Absolute mad lad
Thanks!
This is fire! 🔥🔥🔥 well done
Thanks a lot, man :)

Hehe, thank you very much! I'm glad I have a recognizable style :D
Second this man!
That bass sounds awesome.
How are you getting it to buzz like that?
Thanks! It's a short slice from a synth loop from a pack called Phandora's box that I applied a lot of bit reduction to on the Digitakt. There's a bit reduction on the Octatrack's lofi fx, but I think it has a slightly different character.
Inspiring!
Thanks!
Hi, great performance 🖤, what did you do actually in minute 01:00 by pressing CUE?
Thank you! I'm pressing func+cue to reload the part. This resets all the changes I've done so far. This lets me easily switch scene A from the LFO filter effect back to the default scene without any fx on it at the same time as I'm muting and unmuting stuff on the Digitakt.
Great composition, it's the kinda music I had no idea was electronic back in the 90's (:
Thanks a lot! I've always loved this genre :D
Great track ,, love the vibe ,, reminds me some what of Radiohead ,,, well done another great one :-)
Thank you very much, SJ! :D
great
Thanks :)
ready for the ganster rapp
Hehe, yeah :P
I believe this music you make should be sold to visual artists
Thank you!
fucking sick. Skills man
Thank you very much!
Yes the OT is one of the most exiting machines so ever. All other Elektron boxes are not comparable so far
It really does require a lot of attention. I feel like I'm not making the most of it if I'm not studying it :D
When are we getting another album, man? I like the vibes on this. Kinda reminds me of some stuff I heard in the 90's experimental expansion.
I have to check how much new stuff I've made since my last album. Once I have more than 30 minutes of new music, I'll upload a new album! I think I'm close. Thanks for asking, man :D

Sphincter abuse
I love your music AND skills. But I think you should try to leave your comfort zone
Thank you very much! I also think it's time to switch things up a bit :)
