I would love Odin 2 but RG 556 is what I could buy and it doesnt disappoint.
For the price to performance it's a phenomenal deal to be had. A decent processor, excellent screen, decent ergonomics. Only the plastic quality let's it down as one of the best budget handhelds out there. But at the price something had to give and I'm glad it was just the plastic finish.
I love my rg556. I would probably like the Odin 2 even more, but the rg556 being like half the price when I picked it I think it is stellar. I agree that the plastic is the biggest low point. The sticks aren’t perfect but I’ve been playing first person shooters on it and loving it to be honest
I agree, the RG556 is a great little handheld. If it had a textured finish and Odin2 sticks it would be a 100000% recommend buy for me. Although for the price I still very much rate it as a must buy if you don't already own an Odin2 or RP4Pro.
Good to see you again, man. And great vid!
Been a while since I messaged you...
The screen and ergs are the winner here aren't they. Just wondering if the screen is better than a Samsung Galaxy phone (eg S21FE), which I'm planning to consolise on my next phone upgrade. I know nothing about AMOLED/OLED screen comparisons though. What do you reckon? Would the RG556's screen be a marked improvement vs a Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, HDR10+?!? Any thoughts gratefully received. Cheers and take care, Pete
I can't really confirm how good the screen is compared to the Samsung display. But on paper the Samsung specs are better with the 120Hz etc. I will say the OLED of the 556 is a very nice uplift from what I've used previously on a console, and that being the OLED PS Vita. I have an OPPO Find X5 phone which is also OLED and 120Hz and I wouldn't say it was a noticeable improvement over the 556.
Consolising an old phone is a great idea these days since most mobile phones, even fairly mid range ones are pretty powerful. the X5 I mentioned about has a Snapdragon 888 which might be an old flagship chip but its still pretty capable. I'll be testing this phone on the latest Abxylute extendable controller (hopefully, I believe they have me earmarked for a review unit). 😎
@@handheldgaming4life Great reply and very useful. Thank you for taking the time! Defo interested in vids on extendable controllers for phones/tablets. Thanks again.
Agreed lad. Agreed.
I have an rg556. the screen is really good. but I don't like the design, it's a bit strange. For comfort, it is very comfortable to hold
General shape wise its not exactly pretty. And the bottom 4 buttons (home/back etc) could be better placed. Ergonomically though it works well. Maybe if @Anbernic were to make a 556 lite they could redesign to omit the bottom edge "bumps" to make it look a little nicer although there would soon be a market to add 3d printed bumps back to make it ergonomic again. 🤣
@@handheldgaming4life rp4pro design+5,5 inch oled screen+Snapdragon 870=perfect for me
Sir shun connory is into retros? Pog
I'll take that compliment. 😂
