My Poppy was a seabee during the Vietnam war, and was station in Vietnam and once in CA. He always said can do. Today is his second birthday in heaven. I learned so much from him.

God bless the US Military... especially the Seabees. You should be recognized for the great work you have done over the decades. My dad was a CPO, First Class during WWII, Brother was USMC and son is US ARMY.
I was A Seabee in MCB 53 I served two tours of duty in Vietnam South east asia. It was a great unit with some of the finest men I have ever known. Can Do
My dad is a 20 year fully retired Seabee. He served in Vietnam and was part of the crew that flattened Monkey Mountain and built the runway. He mentioned it often. I always watch these documentaries and look for my dad when he was young. TY for the video
My Uncle Cmndr Martin L. Sowle was in Nam Not sure of his rank then but he was the last commanding officer of Davisville before the Navy shut it down. He lived in North Kingstown RI. In Nam he was in charge of building airports & fuel dumps.
I spent two tours with support activities at Saigon and DaNang 65-66 & 69-70. I traveled from far delta to DaNang servicing various support bases with water purification equipment. Seabees were everywhere. Saw lots of action and lucky to come back. I can honestly say the Seabee legend lives on. I have been there and saw it all. I am a retired UT Chief.
I did two tours in Viet Nam with MCB 4 stationed in Da Nang (1966 - 1968) We won best of type in country on my first tour. What a great bunch of guys I served with, they certainly had the CAN DO spirit.....
Same here, MCB 4 , '65...'67. Chu Lai first then DaNang. Not only Can Do but also "The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer"
Dad was deployed to Danang maim base..his best friend was killed right next to him in the barraks by stray sniper round. He was in NNCB 3.(electrician).I served(active duty ) in NMCB 7 after desert storm (Gulfport CBC.. Nice to see this footage. Thanks SeaBee Museum.(Mechanic)
The seebees were so underrated. They built roads in harsh geographical territory with the reality that they could die at any moment from a mine or a guerilla attack. Vietnam was already lacking infastructure, which was a very bad logistical problem for the US. if the seebees had not been there, imagine how bad their logistics might have been. The war might have even ended a bit sooner.
I am seabee, only reserves-was, that is. My friend was Marine and I think we are friends because of the story of while he was recon 1968- he tells the story of meeting up w/ seabees and having the only warm meal he had while in nam. He treats me w/ friendship that I cannot and do not deserve. I would lay down my life for any Marine and feed him if I can.I don't have much but I will give you what I got.
My father was MCB121 1968-70. Specialty: Dozer and Motorgrader. I really regret not serving when I was younger. Prob to old now at 39. My father would always tell me that even tho he seen and experienced some terrible things in Vietnam, the two tours with the Seabees in Nam taught him more about being a man then anything else.

I have all the respect in the world for the Sea Bees. As a Navy Combat Cameraman in Vietnam I was lucky enough to be assigned several projects with the Sea Bees. One project was to cover a Civic Action Team in the Central Highlands in the general area of Dalat. The provided assistance and medical care for several local Montagnard tribes...
My father, John R. Beard was a Seabee Equipment Operator....joined in late '53 working in Alaska and went ashore in Vietnam in 1965 at Danang. 3 deployments in Vietnam serving all over the place from Saigon to Hue. He must have been attached to a dozen different battalions and ended his 21 year career with 31st NCR. All Seabees can be proud of their critical role in supporting our armed forces around the world.

I was in MCB 6 in 68 and MCB 40 in 69, spent both years either at Dville or Porta Rico. Davisville, Quonset Point and Roosevelt Rhoades are all housing developments now, but they kept the Chapel in the Pines at D-ville and the old drydock at Rosie Roads as a marina. I wonder of the water ship still docks there? Quonset Point was our oldest Navy Base too, but time moves on. Wish I woulda been a better CB!
