12:41 is that chromatic exercise like doing enclosures? or different if so how so ? I don't read
Yes, somehow I believe so. It's picking one note, then descending chromatically one whole step, and then coming back to that note, like C B Bb C. It's kind a enclousure but the last step it's not chromatically, it's a whole step. This exercise of melodic cell is presented here as a chormatically workout, but you can think of it diatonically too, like picking a chord and doing this in the notes of the arpeggio etc. :)
