I got a 2008 camry SE and having similar problems radio turns on but no sound and one of the rear speakers is making a loud static noise. Was working just fine until i disconnected the battery to replace ignition coils and spark plugs

I have the same exact car! I have been riding in silence for 8-months! This car was not cheap! For what we paid, there is no reason not to have a working radio!!

That car is $23k brand new.... that’s pretty damn cheap for especially for the worlds most reliable manufacturer.

Okay if you're having the same issue still it's 6 years after BUT there is a fix. It's the audio amplifier chip Toshiba TB2915AHQ you need solder skills to be able to replace this but any electronic shop should have no difficulty and you have to remove the radio and take out the main board. The chip itself is $10 only found in China

@@bros1083Please help, how did you find out that was the bad component.
Have you posted a video of you doing the repair?
My husband should be able to do it. He was an aviation electronics guy in the Navy. And my son took one class in highschool, they did some soldering.

Dude this same thing happened to me 2008 Sienna. Never had a problem, I was I stalling a sub and amp and after that upon testing the sub to tune the amp ALL the speakers just stopped working. Then they came back on a few minutes later, it did that a few times, then they were off for about 30 min. I checked all the stereo fuses after watching this and reading comments, because I had crossed the speaker wires accidentally. But none were blown, then I turned it back on and they were all just working again...been about 2 songs, so far so good!?

It's an amp issue, but go through the easy steps first, like fuses. Then someone suggested disconnecting one terminal of the battery for a few hours.
If you can find one at a junk yard and try it (no guarantees it would work either) then you'd know.

Essentially Toyota cheaped out and under the immense stress the IC feels the heat generated isn't being transferred onto the heat spreader and slowly dies out with it making a crackle noise and finally dying. Replace the chip and it works again, just make sure you ruled out the wiring issues like fuses and stuff beforehand as this job takes at least a month in getting the chip and then soldering it on

I just got this issue with my 2012 toyota camry xle. It’s either going to be a bad head unit or a bad amp. Luckily I don’t have an amp in my camry. I replaced the radio with a used oem and my sound came back. My used oem radio cost me 85.00.

All 4 speakers of mine stopped working at the same time. No sound AT ALL (distorted or otherwise) not on mute. The touch screen radio (think called headset?) appears to be working normal even under audio features. Tried AM/FM/Bluetooth which even connects phone but still no sound. During a tire change the guy said he didn’t notice any problems w fuses? How can I check for self if I know nothing about cars let alone these intricate details / wires / trouble shooting. Really don’t want to face what some say needs replaced (the whole touch screen radio and was quoted around $800) could it be something else what should I look for / check ? Thanks !!!

For almost 8 months I've been driving with a malfunctioning stereo (no sound). YUCK! I finally figured out what the issue was. Pop open your hood and open the fuse panel on the left side of your engine (driver's side). Look at the schematics on the back of the fuse panel plastic lid. Find the 15A fuse that corresponds to the AMP. Replace that fuse and BOOM, you're back in business. What did you say again? I didn't get that... YOU'RE WELCOME.

When you put too much stuff in the trunk, and push it back, it will push this spring bar out of it's retaining bracket. This allows it to drop down, touch the other spring bar, and short out the amp. If the design of this bracket were reversed, that wouldn't happen.
