@@jamesedwards686 to be honest I've never had a problem with either I just do the other one faster when I'm rigging up eight or ten rods for some reason. Honestly not sure why.
Top one is a palomar. Bottom is improved clinch. Top is imo the best knot in fishing period. The strength retention, consistency, simplicity to tie, everything is incredible. The ONLY thing that sucks about it is you have to pass a doubled up line thru the eyelet of your hook. It's not an issue for almost all fishing except fly fishing. Especially midges, small dries, and nymphs. You can't pass doubled up 7x thru a size 22 griffiths gnat. Or if you could it would take you 20 min. It's why I use improved clinch for fly fishing and palomar for everything else.
@@whybothertry8642the Palomar will not untie, even with slick "super braids". It is superior to the Improved Clinch for this purpose, and also on heavy mono of 20 lbs or more. I still use the older knot on light mono though.
A slight variation is a Uni Knot, which is more versatile. I consider it one of the best knots to understand, as you can base many other knot solutions on it.
@@StingerFlop uni-knot takes longer to tie and the clinch or standard american knot just works perfect. I know both but always use the standard. ALSO the uni-knot isn't that good for tying different fishing lines together. It's a bit bulky. There are smoother knots that won't get hung up on the eyes of your fishing rod like a uni-to-uni knot will. I don't even know the name of the knot I use but you twist a folded braidline around your fluoro or mono or whatever then pull the fluoro through it. Very smooth knot.
I've always used the one on bottom, since I first learned when I was 11 over 30 yrs ago. Think it's time to try one of these other ones. I've always been told "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but hey, it's worth a try.
Same, I’ve broken hooks using the fisherman’s knot, but i just rub my fingers together on the two parts of the line to spin it faster then wrapping it around, since it basically does the exact same thing in the end
Top is a palimore, middle is a mystery to me lol, bottom is an improved clinch. I used the bottom for decades, but I switched to the top in the last two years
Middle knot takes too long. Bottom knot is what a lot of us were taught as kids, and many still use, but top Palomar knot is far superior... simple, fast, and stronger with two lines through the eye of the hook.
I always do the bottom one but after wrapping around 5 or so times I push it thru the bottom circle twice with no need to loop it back thru the above one. Has always been quick and never failed for me
for those wondering, the top knot is the best...2 line support at the inital stress point, least amount of pressure points on the line itself, and will be able to sustain the most weight.
I use the bottom mostly. I'll use the top for dropshot for catfish. Middle looks interesting. Never seen it. If you want a challenging knot, it's the nail knot to attach a leader on a fly line. Even with the tool it's very frustrating for me. Lol
I learned the bottom one in 1997/1998 at the age of 5/6 for fishing with my dad during the summer since he and mum split around that time. Good memories fishing with him during summer vacation.
Bottom one all day takes less than 5 seconds and your fishing agin top knot is also good but you better spit on it that double thread will burn your line
That's not a trilene it's an Improved Clinch, which the Trilene was derived from. The Trilene was one of the early knots for "super braid", before the Palomar reigned supreme.
Improved cinch (bottom) and palomar (top) are the only two knots you need to learn to tie terminals. I don't know what's going on with the middle one lol
I've used the bottom one since I learned to tye one....this is no bs...I use to go fishing before the school bus ran..catch a mess of perch leave them with mom and somehow she'd clean n cookem up...I may smell a lil fishy gin school that was ok in the early 60s.
Here in hawaii, everyone uses the top on which is the Palomar knot because the only good fishing store here tells everyone that comes in to use the palomar knot for there hooks and wieght
Pre-rigged lines are good for beginners, or people who are not dexterous enough to tie the knots themselves, since you can basically just use a shoe double knot and call it good lol
Polomar knot Tornado hh knot Improved Chinch knot. I like the Polomar for anything above 12lb line and a Trelene knot for anything less I preferr the double loop over the cinches single.
El 1ro tiene mas resistencia a la traccion por unirlos El 2 es el mejor amarre que puedas aser en fuerzas positivas y negativas ... El 3 no se que sera pero ... xD
When I was Fishing all of the time when I was in my Teens. The bottom one was the one that I used all of the time. But if I ever get back into it once again. I will try the other two.
The middle one is my favorite has never let me down, it is commonly used in cases where such a good fight is about to be, and the extra support is necessary. 😊
The bottom one is literally called a classic fisherman's knot in the USA but I prefer the top knot.
I use the classic knot and iv never had a knot slip using classic style!! Fast easy and strong as hell!! Line will break before knot slippage

I've always used the "rapala knot" 😂😅 you can find the instructions on the inside of most rapala lures 💜
It's actually called an improved clinch knot.
The top is scientifically the strongest knot. The Palomar
But one end is cut so if friction was low enough it could untie

The bottom one is the most simple. And the knot will always be stronger than whatever lb test your line is
A cinch knot.
Agreed always my go too for bass simple but the most effective I’ve tried other before and they always have had atleast one snap these never

@@spitty3456 cLinch, actually. Improved Clinch in this case.

I learned how to tie the top one from reading a fishing line box when I was 8yrs old and have used it ever since

Palomar knot for the win! (Top)
I use the top knot, the palomar knot never fails. Ive never seen that middle one before.
💯 % the best in my opinion. I learned the clinch and improved clinch knot used that for years. When I found the Palomar it became my favorite
Been fishing all my life and the bottom knot was all I ever used and it never really failed me and thus I still use it
The middle one is what we all should be doing. But the 3rd one is the go to for others. I prefer the 1st method 😅
Looks like a wate of time to me. Bottom knot works
Been rocking the 3rd one since I was young. My grandfather taught it to me.
Nothing beats a good old hangmans knot.

The Top ones for catching catfish
The middle ones for catching trout
The third ones for catching bass 😂

Carp anglers would never use the bottom knot mainly for small fish blood knot

I've only ever used the bottom and have never once had it fail
Palomar is my go to
The top and middle are technically the same, since there is only one pass of string through the eye of the hook
I use the top and bottom ones. They never fail when you get a big fish. If anything, the line will break instead.

Palomar is the only knot i use. Braid, fluoro, or mono. Works with em all and its super simple

Isn't the polamar supposed to have the tag end go through the loop?
