This is the sequel POD game to the original. The original sporting a dome using projector tech. This is using lcd displays and no actual pod. The game is getting ripped to emulation even as we speak and will likely be available via vr headset.

Does this thing have a coin slot or do you need the dumb banapass/ic card?

I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember. I think I had to pay via IC.
That's fine though, an IC card is very normal to have and a much better way to take the metro compared to using cash and paying for paper tickets. Calling the IC card dumb is... pretty dumb.
You need a Bananapass or alternative Amuse IC-compatible card to be able to save progress anyways, so if you're the kinda person visiting Japanese arcades I don't see why you wouldn't have one.

@@m-as9637 What is an IC/bana card? Is it something conencted to your bank account or just some sort of pre-paid card you load up with money? I saw someone on the first game getting a card with the "side"-Earth Federation or Zeon-he was playing with? Is that still true? Or can you play both sides with one card? I know the old game had ranking/system sort of like prestige in CoD.
What arcade did you play this at?
Also, I see you targeting the building, are the buildings all destructible in this game? What about that thing that looks like a highway overpass?

@@2ndlaborofHercules I don't live in Japan and I"m not Japanese so I might get some of these wrong. An IC card is basically just a card that uses NFC technology (the same used in a tap-to-pay credit/debit card and Apple Wallet/Google Pay). A very common kind of IC card are the ones used for transportation (e.g. SuICa and Pasmo), which is, as you guessed, a pre-paid card you can load up with money. You can use these for paying for the subway which is significantly easier than using paper tickets, but the cash inside can also be used in many other services, like at some arcade machines with an IC payment reader installed, or paying at a convenience store.
The other kind of IC card mentioned, BANAPASSPORT, is essentially an account card to be used with arcades, which saves things like scores, equipment, etc. These are part of the "Amuse IC" system, where multiple arcade game publishers agreed to use the same standard for their account cards. In the past, companies like Bandai Namco (BANAPASSPORT), Sega (Aime), and Konami (E-Amusement) all used different standards, so you'd need a seperate card for each company. Thankfully, this isn't an issue anymore, and any arcade account card purchased in the last several years will work with basically all games in Japan. (Here, I'm using an e-Amusement (Konami) card to play a Bandai Namco game).
You can play both sides with one card.
This was at the NAMCO arcade at Aeon Mall KYOTO, a pretty walkable distance from Kyoto Station.
I don't remember anything about the destructible buildings. I played this game months ago and that day was the only day I played. Most of my arcade time was spent playing O.N.G.E.K.I. because that game is incredible.
