      I cleaned house when I moved from Wisconsin to Iowa - I only have nine current models right now :)

      Hey I just bought my blower and used it for the first time today and when it’s not under load it surges what you think it could be

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's actually normal for a snowblower. You can't adjust the fuel mixture on carbs on snowblowers to smooth that surging out. But, by closing the choke a little it should smooth out. Once the engine is fully warmed up you can usually open the choke all the way back up.

    Sir, we just accidentally ordered this machine and I found this video. What you showed here is nothing but perfection. The way you speak, show and describe things deserves the deepest respect. Bloody well done. Thank you and keep going. You literally made my day confirming my decision was good plus you showed me details hard to study elsewhere. God bless you.

    I said it in your last video, Paul.
    But you are a God-send for people trying to determine which blower to buy.
    Excellent content!!

      Yes, Just use the menu at the top of the page to go to the snowblowers. Troy-Bilt always sends you to the parts page first with affiliate links like these.

    This Troy-Bilt is an impressive machine for the price class, very well engineered and shows a smart use of materials. Thank you for the presentation and commentary.

    Great review Paul explaining in great detail why the drive system of Troy-Bilt Snow Blowers are very well made. This is the type of in-depth review you need to know before buying a snow blower.

    Paul, hope you can review the Airens Kraken. Happy New Year! Thanks for the great videos. Much appreciated

      I won't be able to put a Kraken through it's paces this year but I do have a walkaround with the snow manager from Ariens.

    Paul,
    I love my Troy Bilt 2890 Storm Tracker but I will say the only problem I have had is with the Polymer Drive wheel. I have had to replace both after 7 years. The center hub piece starts to crack. This issue could be eliminated if they just made them of metal like I have seen aftermarket wheels made as I have seen for other models which have the 10 cog drive wheel. Other than that one complaint the machine is a beast for residential use.

    Nice machine, wish I would have got a tracked unit for my steeper driveway. But my 30" ariens efi hasn't let me down yet here in the northern WI snowbelt except the tires slipping a bit if it's icy.

      If you like your Ariens and decide you want track seriously look at the Ariens RapidTrak. It give you the maneuverability and speed of a wheeled unit AND the benefit of tracks when you need it.

    right at the start of the video I can see a yellow cap on the engine casing.... i guess what i am asking is what is the yellow cap on the side if the oil fill and dip stick are on the top?

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Todays engine blocks have all the holes predrilled for any application that it may be used for. That yellow cap is just a plug for one of those holes. (it's the oil fill for other applications)

    Hello Paul, I apologize that this comment is off topic. Based partially on your reviews, (Thank you very much for these) I purchased an Ariens Deluxe 30 EFI from my local True Value. They put it together a couple days ago. My question for you: When I was maneuvering the machine at the store I heard very loud clicking as I manually made turns with it. Machine was not running.
    Is this OK? or could they have messed something up in the factory or during assembly at store? Should I insist they do some adjustments on it before they deliver it to me in a couple days or refuse to accept this one?
    Thank you very much for a reply

      @PaulSikkema  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Problem! Yes, the snowblower is working correctly. What you hear is the auto-locking differential releasing to make the turn. Here is an old video that shows you exactly how it works and why it makes that noise. th-cam.com/video/99aIQN5X6AE/w-d-xo.html

      Here is the inside of your Deluxe 30 EFI. I talk about the Auto-turn starting around 14:30 th-cam.com/video/TcT-cdugH_I/w-d-xo.html

    I have a MTD looks just like this one but when I put mine in the service Position the gas leaks from the carburetor. Is there a fix for that please and thank you.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the year. Make sure the throttle in in the off position. The newest ones will leak a couple of tablespoons out of the carb and then stop.
      The older ones will continue to leak until the fuel is below where the gas hose connects to the fuel tank. If you have one like this I recommend emptying the fuel tank before you tip it up. The easiest way is to use a turkey baster and remove as much fuel as you can. Here is a turkey baster. amzn.to/3Z7tQoR You can get one at Walmart for less. Put the fuel back in your gas can.
      The remaining fuel may drip out - just use oil dry, kitty litter or corrugated cardboard to soak up the spill. The fuel dripping on the auger housing will not hurt the paint.
