- In our latest Reaction video we watch the Indian Epic Mahabharat Episode 1, 2, 3, 4 by BR Chopra from the TH-cam Channel Pen Bhakti.
King Bharat sows the seed of democratic thinking by appointing a commoner as his successor. Many generations later, King Shantanu risks the tradition when he marries Ganga and promising never to question her for anything she does.
Bound by his promise, Shantanu does not question Ganga as she sacrifices seven sons. When he protests at the birth of their eighth son, Ganga leaves him. Years later the son is returned, trained and educated as Prince Devarata.
Devarata is crowned as Yuvraj, heir apparent. But, to enable the marriage of his father to a village girl, Devarata renounces his rights to the throne and also vows never to marry. Gods shower blessings and Devrata is renamed as Bhishma.
Bhishma (Devarata) defends his sacrifice and carries out his duties to look after all the affairs of the State. King Shantanu dies in grief and guilt towards Bhishma.

Apart from Krishna,the personality that I got impressed in Mahabharata is Devarath Bheeshma 🙏 He was very powerful. You will see that in the coming days. Even today people remember Bheeshma for his unshakable oath, the Bheeshma pratijna🙏

I remember We used to have 1 or 2 TELEVISION sets in neighbourhood… and EVERYONE in the neighbor hood used to be in front of those televisions on Every Sunday to watch this Series ….. No cars used to be on THE ROAD…. NO TRAFFIC at all …. Even in Mumbai…😄

You refreshed my memories showing this epic, very delighted to watch it again. In that era, there was no Democracy, kings were ruling countries, responsible to be a very good ruler who think about people before family, that’s the probable reason that they have not showed politics, but as we saw in the first episode that king has to make decision that is best for his country and people. King Bharat didn’t choose his son, he adopted a son Shantanu who was suitable to be a ruler.

Please don't get offended but since there are less Gurukuls and our education system mostly doesn't support our scriptures! In my school Bhagwat Geeta was thought in Music Subject as a music and they never explained the meaning of Shlokas. And same was the problem with other schools I researched of.. Mostly Youth of this generation doesn't read them! This is what I meant with my sentence!

I watched Mahabharata more than 10 times during my childhood and during corona pandemic lockdown I watched it 4 more times. Up until now I have remembered each and every plot line and dialogues of this serial. I know what a character is going to say or how are they going to move. The pace of the series is a bit slow but it's good for reducing mental agitation. Mahabharata story is not what appears on the surface but is multilayered and very complicated as it involves many lifetimes.

@@TheB657 Hey B! You have to manually sync up the videos but it's pretty easy to do. Sabine does a countdown on our video and you hit play on the Pen Bhakti video at the same time as Sabine... And there's a timer on our video so it's easy to see if they are synced. 🙏🏼💙 And oh yeah, it takes Sabine for ever to edit...

According to Mahabharata, then warriors had shastra (hand weapons) and astra(launching weapons), divyastra(divine launching weapons). Only greatest warriors were in possession of divyastra. In serial divyastra are shown as arrows raining fire, rain, storm etc.
Also vasus are kind of gods, so be born as mortal humans with all the human sufferings were considered curse for them. This is recurring theme, divines were cursed to born as humans and go through life's sufferings. Obviously from human perspective it is atrocious, but from those divine perspective they were releases early from sufferings by Ganga. And thats why Bheeshma is more so revered because he goes through entire life of suffering and dies very old.
